Singapore 1-1 The Philippines
So "first match jittery" does happen whenever we play our first game in any major tournament.
Clearly labelled by many as the clear favourites against the Filipinos, who prior to the opener was
thrashed 8-0 by Thai club side Nakhon Pathom, thus it's no wonder the expectation back at home is
high as the mood can be sensed in the recent days on the social media platforms.
So there we have it. After 18 months of political lobbying, journalist digging, scandal, corruption
and a last minute Royal-infused, David Beckham inspired dash to the line, England's 2018 World Cup
bid ended in dismal failure.
We are not alone though. It was also a grim day yesterday for Australia and America as they missed
the chance to host the World Cup to, of all places, Qatar.
The public anger is widely expected after the final whistle was blown (as pictured above - a screen
grab after the match from "Kallangroar.com" ).
Who could blame the fans for feeling that way, after all, in what it seen as the last hope to
preserve that sense of "national prestige" after the loss of the three domestic titles to the
foreign clubs, the Lions were knocked out of the biennial regional tournament by Vietnam and saw
them qualified together with the unfancied Filipinos.

So it's come around to Christmas again already. 2010 has been a great year in the history of
Stevenage FC. The club finally achieved promotion to the football league and have made a solid
start to life in League 2.
Whilst the last 4-6 weeks haven't been great, the signs are good for the future.
I think many of you read what was written on The Straits Times today, eh?
Nothing short of the usual woes we are facing in today's local football - the lack of quality
players and standard, the lack of bonding between fans and clubs, the lack of familiarity of the
teams and players, etc.
So nothing new and this tells us we know what are the problems that we are all talking about here.

All good things come to and end...or at least a temporary break. Regular visitors to the blog
will know that posting has been sporadic for a while. Time and cruel fate have conspired against
me, and finding the time needed to do the site justice just isn't as possible as it used to be.
Anyway, I hope to bring bridgeviews.
Duane Rollins of Canadian Soccer News is running a live blog on Decision Day, and since I'm not

Although I'm personally not on board with the idea of a MLS redux in Miami, I have to give credit
to those South Floridians who are trying to keep the flame of hope alive because those guys will
not give it up. But judging by the one of the latest ideas to surface they have reached the
creatively-desperate stage of their quest because someone down there is talking about turning the
disused aquatic stadium pictured above into this.
A video that I hadn't seen before, so apologies if you have.
Quick tour of the museum at Hampden and a bit about both Queen's Park and Third Lanark. Worth a

creative.
Irony is a dish best served ironically. Last year, EPL Talk banned Unprofessional Foul for
posting the script to the EPL Talk awards on Unprofessional Foul's own website (among other
allegations). We are humbled that UF nominated us for "best blog that deserves more traffic",
although that runs at odds with our nomination on another site for "best niche blog that would lose
its small-town feel if stampeded by too many feet.
Dear Lions,
All I would say is best of luck against the Vietnamese tonight at Hanoi.
I know it's gonna be tough in front a full capacity My Dinh crowd, but I'm always a firm believer

Good Luck to you.
Bit of Twitter chat about winter breaks and bad weather. Someone suggested a break could mean the

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back into another Happy Hour. This week has been truly interesting.
After taking some time to reflect, I am not as pissed off as I was about Qatar being awarded the
2022 World Cup. I still think it is a stupid decision, but as more time goes by my cares will
eventually fade away much like my reaction to the OJ Verdict.
This blog slaughtered Manchester United and Ferguson for their bungled attempts at retaining the
services of Carlos Tevez, who, as we all know, moved on to Manchester City in what turned out to be
a very acrimonious transfer. In the days and weeks that followed the Argentine's move to the club's
bitter rivals back in 2009, somewhat predictably, news of the striker's defection to City provoked

fantastic.

More bad news on the WPS front, as the Red Stars have announced that they are suspending
operations for 2011 ... and hoping to rejoin the fray in 2012. Obviously, this is not good, as it
whittles down the teams currently competing to six. However, on a brighter side, the league
continues!
Does it make me nervous to hear about this?

After last month's rocket-powered vodka ship to top spot on The Offside with an assist from good
ol' Tom and George, it was hard to know how things would shake themselves out in November without
an ownership scandal to keep people hitting refresh.
The New Paper gave a damning assessment on ISL-based Lions following Suzuki Cup exit.

I agree SPANISH HANDBALL doesn´t get the exposure it should, I am the first to criticise, but
Football is so big & dominates so much the local scene that this happens. Plus the blog is a
personal "hobby" with limited time in my hands & unfortunately for Handball fans I have to sway to
what the majority wish to read.
