I just wanted to include a link and comment on this article by Kartik Krishnaiyer on the Major
League Soccer Talk blog about Sven Goran Eriksson's early success with the Mexican national team
and how the U.S. National Team could learn from that. I essentially agree that Eriksson has done a
good job with Mexico and that I too was somewhat skeptical about this appointment when it was made.
One of my favorite blogs out there is almost always interesting Climbing the Ladder.
Men and those with sensitive stomachs may want to click out now. Still here? Okay. Don't say I
didn't warn you. This post is all about welcoming you, our dear (and especially our female) readers
to our newest blog, HABs Offside. But by way of introduction, I would like to share [...]
The Islanders have won again.
A reader* wrote in with the suggestion that I post something about the U.S. government's takeover
of AIG, since AIG sponsors Manchester United. I originally didn't want to because I don't really
understand the whole AIG/giant economic meltdown. But Kevin Drum doesn't understand soccer and
still posted on it, so I suppose I will write something.
While over reading Tony's Kansas City this morning, I came across a link to Bottom Line
Communications, a blog that proclaims to be "examining all things media...". He has a
post on the recent layoffs the KC Star is doing. One of those names should stand out to Wizards
fans, and that's Bob Luder. Luder, along with Pete Grathoff have been covering the Wizards for the
past few years.

There were many dissenting voices to my article about the academy and whether players coming
through it are being ostracized both in the comments on this blog as well as on the forums that
picked it up.
The main arguments were that, if good enough, players will come through and, even though I've got
my reservations about that (would Jamie Carragher have made it at Liverpool if he'd come through
now?
I was reading Goff's blog the other day, and he broke down the first round of the 2008 SuperDraft.
Frankly, there wasn't much to write home about. Of the 14 picks, only Sean Franklin in LA has
played significant minutes, and he is a defender on the worst defense in the league. He then
mentions a [...
Here is an excellent article from Kartik Krishnaiyer on the MLS Talk blog that goes through the
differences between the managing styles of Bruce Arena and Bob Bradley, and also provides some
interesting thoughts on the recent callups that Bob Bradley has made for the U.S. National Team.
For the most part, I agree with Kartik's column, but I disagree with the comments he made about
Clint Dempsey.

Well done by an ex-FCD coach.
Okay, let's look at the bright side.
Um...
I know there's something...
Oh, got one! Actually, more than one!
1) Jérémy Toulalan gets better every game, and is looking more
attack-minded as well. He's becoming less wary about shooting from distance, which can knock
defenses off guard a good thing, as our offense can be extremely predictable.
Over the history of FC Dallas Burn there have been too few moments of glory.
The latest on the Cooper and Shea injuries
Wizards rookie defender, Jonathan Leathers was the winner of the poll here and at The Back Post for
this week's player interview. Thad over at The Back Post has posted the interview, including the
fan question that was posted in the comments section of this blog.
Personally I'm a fan of Leathers, I think he's going to do very well here.
SoccerByIves is reporting this trade which was posted as a rumor here yesterday as done. Here's an
excerpt:
Toronto FC has acquired right back Hunter Freeman from the New York Red Bulls for two supplemental
draft picks and other considerations, sources with knowledge of the deal told SBI on Friday
morning.
FC Dallas has announced today via their blog that they have promoted Andrew Daniels to the senior
roster and signed New Mexico alumni Jeff Rowland to the developmental roster. Rowland twice made
the Real Salt Lake squad under Ellinger only to be injured and lose out both times. Most recently
Rowland has been playing with Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL Second Division.

If you go through my previous articles then you will see how much Ade pissed me off over the
summer.
I was very disappointed by his flirting with Barcelona and AC Milan and I let it be known here on
my blog.
Before his summer antics I defended him when others were knocking him. It seemed a personal insult
to me when he outrageously believed his own hype, and possibly even believed that he was bigger
than Arsenal.

ESPN: The Magazine weighs in on the portfolio-enhancing pull owning an English soccer team has on
wealthy American sports baron's. It's nothing we haven't read before, but worth 5 minutes of your
time if you have it. And I know you do because you're reading this blog instead of spending another
minute in Excel hell.
I read lately an article on the Dutch Blog on how many young talents they possess. Polish
football, on the other hand, is not known for wunderkids spread around Europe. That's why we're so
thrilled with Michal Janota, a guy who at 18 already scores for the Feyenoord senior team.

Crap. Working in post secondary education means that this is the craziest time of the year for

David Beckham played his first game under Bruce Arena. The game against New England
Revolution played out to a 2-2 draw.
"He works us hard to ensure we understand exactly what he expects on the pitch. It's not going
to happen overnight, but the signs are there and we're all behind the manager" Becks said in
his blog.
Now that is one very fine fake photo, don't you think? (It's actually an enhanced (in more way than
one, if you ask me) version of the HDC, site of Dynamo's third championship postgame celebration.)
Unfortunately, I can not take credit for it, which goes instead to the excellent blog The Original

1. Everton - Liverpool. And yet, no amount of having a soccer blog could keep me from writing email

If you don't know what this article is about after reading that title, then please, stop reading
and check into your nearest kindergarten. Your stupidity might be compared to a certain Wayne
Rooney, and I would rather avoid all mentions and comparison with that player in this blog.
The Best
Luka Modric in the long run should prove to be the best signing of the summer.
