AEK finally got around to releasing their new kits today, a full month after this blog unveiled
photos of the home jersey and a full week after I ordered (and took delivery of!) the official
08-09 jersey from soccer.com. AEK's official web-site now has the home (black), away (yellow) and
third (burgundy) kits for sale [.
My first footballing love was, of course, Sheffield Wednesday. They are currently in the midst of a
complicated and boring takeover battle, and I have set up a blog to talk about it. So if you're
bored of whatever you're doing, or wondering why I'm not posting so much, you can read about Geoff
Sheard's [.
I just wanted to include a link and comment on this article by Kartik Krishnaiyer on the Major
League Soccer Talk blog about Sven Goran Eriksson's early success with the Mexican national team
and how the U.S. National Team could learn from that. I essentially agree that Eriksson has done a
good job with Mexico and that I too was somewhat skeptical about this appointment when it was made.
I have begun tracking the 2009 Generation adidas class.
It's true, according to a vague anonymous email from anyone maybe to a blog.
But it doesn't mean it isn't true, or cool enough to post about.
Why...?
Because the source says Fulham is the team! Fulham USA!
I love it!
It's transfer time, and our defense is a sieve. So what's standing in the way of our purchasing
some really good defenders?
Two things: Money, and roster spots.
In short, we can't purchase any players until we get rid of a non-developmental player and his
salary to free up some cap space.
I don't often share viral videos on this blog, but: Two girls from Santa Monica High School show
their love for LA monument Randy's Donut. (Note the last line: "Let's see Mia Hamm do
that!")
Well, well, the U.S. in the moment of truth.
The running blog woke up just in time to see Nigeria score. Now the African team looks confident
and is playing some dominant soccer.
One think for sure, the U.S. can't keep depending on Japan to save their scalps.
45 - The U.S.
Yes, it could be happening.
One of my favorite blogs out there is almost always interesting Climbing the Ladder.
Cobb Futbol Club have relaunched their website as CobbFC.net. The new site has a sleek new look -
but as any decent blogger worth his salt will tell you, you've got to have the content to back it
up.
A quick scan of the some the juicer areas tells me that they are on the right track with the
placeholders but still have quite a bit of work to do filling it up with quality content.
Last month we reviewed the Nike Euro 08 shoes over at the football kits blog - and our friends from
SoccerPro were kind enough to send us a sample pair to test out and review. The Euro 08 category
features the Mercurial Vapor IV and Air Legend boots from Nike - we had already reviewed [...]
Finding stuff for a blog like this is a little like shopping at garage sales. Occasionally you
strike gold, like a mint-condition "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" book, aka a photo of
Ronaldinho getting in shape for the Olympics. Or sometimes you find total garbage that you would
never take home, like the toilet [.
Men and those with sensitive stomachs may want to click out now. Still here? Okay. Don't say I
didn't warn you. This post is all about welcoming you, our dear (and especially our female) readers
to our newest blog, HABs Offside. But by way of introduction, I would like to share [...]
Steve Goff has a rumor that I heard about two weeks ago...
In the past week, the Mexican press has reported that Jared Borgetti will be headed to MLS next
year.
It was a feast of football this weekend, particularly on Saturday. With Barcelona and Real Madrid
in action, as well as Arsenal and Man Utd, the fallout from the games was always likely to be
enormous. Let's start in England first, where Manchester United won comfortably away at Fulham and
Arsenal snatched an undeserved, last-gasp [.

This is just too damn weird. There has been no announcement from the club. But earlier this week, I
ordered the "08/09 AEK Home Jersey" from Soccer.com. The picture on that site showed the
black Puma jersey that we have posted photos of on this blog earlier this month but with no [...]
We have now switched to our new servers and will quickly ascertain what extra services we need to
keep up with the increased load we are getting on the site. SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "The

I've posted the greatest soccer commercial ever made on the blog, done by Nike soccer. Here is a
video of behind the scenes. It lets you see a little of the personalities of Ruud van Nistelrooy,
Wesley Sneijder, and Cesc Fabregas.

Jozy Altidore will be staying with Villarreal for at least the first half of the upcoming La
Liga season.
The U.S. national team striker and former Red Bulls standout revealed that he will not be going
to another Spanish club on loan, which had long been expected, and will stay with Villarreal as the
club deals with a rash of injuries at th forward position.
The Islanders have won again.
A reader* wrote in with the suggestion that I post something about the U.S. government's takeover
of AIG, since AIG sponsors Manchester United. I originally didn't want to because I don't really
understand the whole AIG/giant economic meltdown. But Kevin Drum doesn't understand soccer and
still posted on it, so I suppose I will write something.
While over reading Tony's Kansas City this morning, I came across a link to Bottom Line
Communications, a blog that proclaims to be "examining all things media...". He has a
post on the recent layoffs the KC Star is doing. One of those names should stand out to Wizards
fans, and that's Bob Luder. Luder, along with Pete Grathoff have been covering the Wizards for the
past few years.
Then a US National team watching party might be just what you need.
Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for... the announcement of who's won the RoM
competition for inventing a chant. Cheers to all of you that entered. I have sent the winning chant
Pete Boyle's way to see what he makes of it. The winner receives any t-shirt design they wish from
MancuniaMerchandise.
A nice little letter was posted yesterday on FC Dallas's team blog by General Manager Michael Hitchcock about the on-going coaching search for the club. Just as we talked about the other day, it sounds like the search is nearly over and we will find out more early next week.
Dear FC Dallas Fans:
I wanted to [.
There were many dissenting voices to my article about the academy and whether players coming
through it are being ostracized both in the comments on this blog as well as on the forums that
picked it up.
The main arguments were that, if good enough, players will come through and, even though I've got
my reservations about that (would Jamie Carragher have made it at Liverpool if he'd come through
now?
I was reading Goff's blog the other day, and he broke down the first round of the 2008 SuperDraft.
Frankly, there wasn't much to write home about. Of the 14 picks, only Sean Franklin in LA has
played significant minutes, and he is a defender on the worst defense in the league. He then
mentions a [...
Who the hell needs bodyguards when you've got Chris Klein out there doing his best, most-intimidating Jurassic Park-style velociraptor impersonations? If any of you other kids are thinking about hugging David Beckham on the fly, remember this image. You could be next.
And as my comrades in blog over at The Original Winger point out, you could also be on TMZ --possibly the only folks on the planet to ever refer to Mr.
This time, it's Spain v. Sweden. I think I've given up and I'm cheering for Spain, even though
they'll inevitably let me down. But I'm a Liverpool girl, so I have to cheer for Torres and Xabi in
the off-season, too, apparently. Anyway. You can follow the blog here or at This I Extra Time, and
like before, you can comment as well.
The above photo comes courtesy of a loyal reader in England who inquired as to who the un-named
American trialist was. From this we learn that a former Dynamo player may be suiting up for Ipswich
Town.
Normally we would not report on the trial of a player who had already left MLS.

Dave and I always like to play this game in the press box at RFK where we try to figure out the
worst XI in MLS history... the all-bust XI, and so on. In that vein, I ask you, the learned
audience of this blog to tell me who you think the worst coach in [...]
If you are surfing to this blog, you probably saw the USA squeak by Japan 1-0 to open up the
Olympic tournament for the Stars and Stripes. A fair result could have been 2-1 for Japan, which
created more dangerous chances than our boys and demonstrated more fluid passing and coherent
defense.
I'll delve into this more later but here are a few quick bits:
Brian McBride - Battled hard as always but there was seldom anyone available for the second ball.
Jürgen Klinsmann could have stayed in Orange County and coach South Coast Bayern instead.
