**Our first guest post of the summer comes from Josh Drzewicki, who's been a regular here
over the past few seasons. He takes an interesting look at which squad members had the highest and
lowest total of points per match started, which produces a "best eleven" that not many would have
come up with otherwise.
In the last blog we talked about the last time the USA played in Canada. The day was Nov. 9, 1997
and it was the game where the USA clinched qualification for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Roy Wegerle
scored twice and new Hall of Famer Claudio Reyna added another as the MNT booked its spot for the
tournament in France.
Come the 2012/13 season, the Arsenalians blog will be restarted. The design and the template's been
changed, and there'll be a few more different things here, starting July 2012.
Regular readers of my efforts for this blog will know that, like many other United fans, I place
little credence in 90% of the stories which appear in the media about who is leaving and who is
joining our illustrious club. There is so much media "noise" going on at the moment about
movements, and [..
To Glasgow last weekend to spend the nicest, hottest Saturday of the year sitting in a basement bar
on Bath Street talking about football.
That's never a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon but on this occasion there was also a - slight
- point to the outing.
I was very happy to be invited along to have my say in the Scottish Football Forums end of season
podcast.
As you will know, this is a blog about Arsenal. Hence the name.
Obviously I have a keen interest in all things Arsenal. I want the the club to do well, to win
things, to compete and to sign good players. When we sign those players, I will welcome them
(unless they're one of these signings in which case I'll hedge my bets and make a 'this tastes
yukky' face whilst suggesting we should wait and see how they do), and players we don't sign don't
interest me in the slightest.
On Thursday, Part 1 of Mark's blog looked at off-the field factors that influenced Town's
10th year in the second tier of English Football League.
Today, Mark looks in detail at the man in charge of the on-field action, the man who currently
holds the key to the future of Ipswich Town, the man I've been trying so hard to have faith in this
season: Paul Jewell.
The New England Revolution are prepared to take on D.C. United at crumbling old RFK Stadium
tonight. The Revs are trying to avenge their only home loss of the season, which came at the hands
of D.C. about a month ago. United, meanwhile, are looking to continue a good run of form that has
seen them leap to second place in the Eastern Conference.
Howdy gang. Cardillo here. In the vein of remaining 100 percent honest -- if to a fault -- with
this little old blog-o-roonie, have to come clean and admit my interest in Saturday's United States
soccer friendly with Scotland is low. As in, I'd probably rather go see "Battleship" -- alone --
than schedule my Memorial Day Saturday around this particular game.
The season is done and dusted, 4th place it is then but as we know because of Chelsea's antics
in the Champions League final we have no Champions League football down at the Lane next season.
What impact this will have to the squad, with players in and out, is unknown for the time being,
but that is discussion for another day, along with a whole host of subjects that this blog will try
and delve into over the summer months.
Those industrious chaps over at STV are in the process of unveiling the top ten Scottish players in
the Online Writers' Player of the Year awards.
I was delighted to be asked to take over as profile compiler when they reached number five: West
Bromwich Albion's James Morrison.
Another year of solid improvement for Morrison, a key part of Roy Hodgson's improving West Brom
side and now an established international presence.
Look a new post! Fellow AOs, I know it has been a long time coming, but I wanted to extend an
appreciation to all of you for sticking by this blog. I, like most of you, was yearning for new
posts over the past month, and like most of you, I watched this blog daily for new threads to no
avail. We kept the banter alive in the Wigan thread hoping and waiting for news to come, and
then sadly the day came when JG stepped up to let us know that he and the rest of the blogging team
needed to call it quits due to various real life activities.
Twohundredpercent's semi-resident artist (he has a kennel out the back) Dotmund loves
international football almost as much as he fears shop mannequins. So, to celebrate the approach of
UEFA Euro 2012, he has produced 16 new pictures for each participating country. One of these will
appear here every day in the run up to the kick-off of the tournament, which mathematicians will no
doubt tell you is in 17 days today.
Everybody, kiss your sister
For the first time maybe since starting this blog I
didn't watch a Rapids game. I spent the weekend at family events in Seattle and my schedule hasn't
allowed me time to watch the game yet, but I didn't want to leave anyone hanging. ;) I have watched
the goals and read other write-ups but I'm not going to try to do any sort of comprehensive review
of the game.
Remember those conversations back in late April about how packed the schedule was? Nine games in
32 days it was to be a proving ground. Sure, the Seattle Sounders are 4-1-1 +5 two-thirds of the
way through that stretch, but come on, are we really going to ignore the 0-1-1 -1 in the last two?
The team is struggling right now.
If you are a regular visitor of my blog, you would have known I posted THIS before the season
started and wrote about how the season would be
"A big big season for the old guard". The
first paragraph I wrote has come true!. I said:
Everyone has written Chelsea off this season haven't they and doesn't it really
frustrate and wind you up?
Now imagine running a blog like this for a second. You hope that people can relate to you first of
all and then of course you hope to be able to spread the word!. I was asked if I would be
interested in receiving some branded T-Shirts for my website so as you can imagine was more than
happy to!
So I received these two shirts recently and have been well pleased with the quality of the items.
Welcome to the New England Revolution versus Houston Dynamo live game thread! The Revs are
trying to make it two in a row at home tonight after pasting Vancouver 4-1 last week, while the
Dynamo are playing their third match in a week, having drawn 0-0 with Portland on Tuesday. Lineups
and live blog after the jump!
Picture tells a thousand words, as they always said.
I shall not dwell on too long over the newly announced national team squad list in prep for the
upcoming friendliest against Hong Kong and Malaysia.
And I thought the depicted picture shall more or less tell a thing or two of my reaction to the
announcement.

I spent yesterday on the blog focusing on the Bayern Munich perspective and now today I want to
focus on Chelsea's coming into the game on Saturday. So let's start with Robbie Di Matteo and what
I believe to be an important message to his players within his press conference that took place on
media day at Cobham yesterday.

You will always be a legend...Liverpool Football Club have today
announced that Kenny Dalglish will no longer be the manager at Anfield next season. The Liverpool
legend won the Carling Cup and sent the Reds to an FA Cup final but it was his league position that
appeared to create the problem.
The other day I posted up on this blog a team picture of Real Madrid for all the global readers &
fans. I thought that it would be appreciated seeing the Club had just managed to win the Spanish
League title. Thinking as always on all the Spanish Football Sports Blog readers & the various
Clubs they may follow, in this case, the FC BARCELONA readers, I looked around for a team photo
that was
Like children before Christmas we wait with increasing excitement for the all-Edinburgh Scottish
Cup final.
For those of us with an emotional attachment, of course, this Santa delivers either the greatest
gift of all or a ginormous slap in the face.
High stakes.
Given I can think of little else it was a pleasure to join The SPL Podcast for a cup final preview
show.
Hi all. Hope you like the new design, but more importantly, the new direction this site will
take over the summer and coming season.
I don't want to speak for the editor-in-chief, but we're hoping the slight change of direction
will breath some fresh life into this site that is going on its sixth year.

We are delighted today to welcome back Ben Piggott, illustrator of the very fine images that adorn
this site and a supporter of a club newly arrived in our midst, Wolverhampton Wanderers. Here, Ben
conveys his mood as the Old Gold settle back among us. Ben previously authored an astute analysis
of the Championship players who featured in last year's UEFA European under-21 Championship for us
and can be followed on Twitter at @Apt_Pseudonym.
A few days ago, "Jogger" from the excellent Everton website, bluekipper.com asked me two answer 10
questions for the site's "away team" fixture on the eve of our game with the Toffees. In return, he
very kindly answered some questions of mine about both clubs, and the match today, so here goes!

Monitoring the evidence being given by Rebekah Brooks to the Leveson Inquiry is more than
entertaining...
... the collusion in corruption between power and insiders is evident.
In the dim and distant past, I undertook a Ph.D in Economics - the title of my thesis was "The

I am guest posting over at the Section 108 blog. Thanks to the Gues-monkey for letting me do

I don't think the point is getting across.
As it relates to a post, let me just say that it's ok if a reader "doesn't get it".
People can't be convinced or changed with a solitary article not at their core anyways.
Every time I write one of these, my brain screams:
- "Oh, but what about this?

Morning all, a busy Friday ahead with our last home game of the season coming up tomorrow
against Norwich and after a quiet week there's a glut of stuff to get through this morning.
We've been talking all week about how important third place is and the manager is quite well
aware of that, especially in light of results in midweek.
Below is a link to the transcript from the conversations between Neil Doncaster, Jim Spence and Jim
Traynor on BBC Radio Scotland.
It is taken from the excellent blog by Paul McConville - Scots Law Thoughts

Our latest guest post sees us very pleased to welcome Paul Harper, co-host of the Totally Tranmere
podcast and the author of an eclectic blog. Here at TTU, we would admit to having covered the
Prenton Park club less than we would like to have done in our three years of existence so to be
able to call upon the services of Paul is something of a boon.
This blog is mainly a place for news regarding Sporting Kansas City, but from time to time I like
to throw in a little historical perspective in there as well. With Toronto FC going to 0-7 over the
weekend, matching the record of the Kansas City Wizards in 1999 for futility.
So let's take a trip back through KC's history to compare Toronto's 0-7 start to Kansas City's 0-7
start in the 1999 season.
The WNT Blog will be taking a hiatus from daily postings as it is traveling south to Guatemala to

World Cup in Azerbaijain. You can follow all the news and happenings of the U-17s on the WNT Blog.
