Good morning! It's matchday again @The Cathedral of Football. The opponent today are the team every
MetroBulls fan loves to hate - DC United - aka The Forces of Darness (7:30pm ET, MSG). With the Red
Bulls still on a high from Wednesday's destruction of TFC, will we see another massive victory
today?
The league's oldest rivalry is, historically, a one-sided affair. D.C. United have traditionally
treated New York the way a dog treats a fire hydrant, raining on NY's parade in the regular season,
playoffs, Open Cup and more.
However, the tide has been turning over the past 18 months, punctuated by the 4-0 thrashing the
Red Bulls put on United back in April.
Steve Stoehr, of SB Nation's New England Revolution blog The Bent
Musket, and I exchanged five questions a piece ahead of today's Philadelphia Union-Revolution match
at Gillette Stadium.
tBG: The Union chose to pass on the opportunity to acquire USMNT
attacking midfield Benny Feilhaber.
Samuel Eto'o may have only been an Inter player for two seasons, but the legacy he leaves behind
will never be forgotten. "The Lion King" came to Inter in the summer of 2009, as somewhat of an
afterthought in the blockbuster Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Barcelona deal. Many people questioned how
the Nerazzurri were going to survive without the talent and skill of the Swede and if Eto'o would
be able to.

FA Cup, Steven Gerrard, Liverpool (2006)
A nice rivalry game coming up Sunday. It's on Fox Soccer Channel at 7:30 am and they provide plenty
of fodder in advance of the game:
Sir Alex Ferguson will take nothing for granted ahead of Manchester United's blockbuster FA Cup
tie with Liverpool on Sunday.
EUPHORIA: Kaka's goal, Real's 4th, giving us a 2-goal cushion - meant that all hope was lost for
the sunken Yellow Submarine and that the 3 points were all ours..
Real Madrid 4 – Villarreal 2. What a match! There are very few matches that get people to talk up
the possibility of having an attractive and utterly competitive game and actually live up to it:
Last Night's encounter was one of those few times.
Benfica say a deal for David Luiz is off, which is highly interesting. ChelseaTV isn't so
sure.
More interesting, however, is news that Fernando Torres is open to a move from Liverpool to
Stamford Bridge. Via the Guardian: "Fernando Torres has told Liverpool to sit down and
negotiate with Chelsea, having reached the point at which he believes that a departure from Anfield
is now the right move for his career.
Monday marked one of the craziest transfer window closing days in recent memory, with
blockbuster deals and several Americans making moves.
Fernando Torres stole the show, moving to Chelsea on an $80.5 million transfer, while English
striker Andy Carroll moved to Liverpool for an astonishing $56.
David Ngog was at the double as Liverpool Reserves romped to a 4-0 friendly win over a strong
Tranmere Rovers side at the Academy on Tuesday afternoon.
The Frenchman opened the scoring with a thumping 35th minute strike before Daniel Ayala and
Emmanuel Mendy put the hosts out of sight in the second half.
Inconsistent
Everyone has had their own personal go at FIFA over the past few months, with most of the
English nation angry that they didn't get the World Cup (and were humiliated in the process), but
the spotlight rarely falls on the English establishment of football and many of their agendas seem
to slip under radar.
Part 3 of a match made on the football fields of fantasia sees Arsenal and Barcelona

along.
The football fans dream and a European tie to savour. There are many names applicable to a clash
involving the two finest, most aesthetically pleasing footballing teams on the planet.

Manchester City's big money signing Yaya Toure insists that the Citizens can be better than La
Liga giants Barcelona. The midfielder traded in the confines of Camp Nou for the City of Manchester
Stadium in a blockbuster move, and with the money still flowing for new signings, Toure insists
City can better his old club.
Micah Richards' header sent Manchester City into an FA Cup semi-final blockbuster with
Manchester United next month as they eded out Championship side Reading.
It will be the Blues' first appearance at that stage of the competition for 30 years and they
will hope to avoid the nerves that affected them against the Royals.

The New York Red Bulls have acquired Canadian national team star Dwayne DeRosario in a trade
with Toronto FC, sources have confirmed to SBI.
The trade, which will send Tony Tchani, Danleigh Borman and a first round pick in 2012, will be
announced this afternoon.
MLS is finalizing details on the first blockbuster trade of the new year.
Today's blockbuster trade sending Dwayne DeRosario to the New York Red Bulls just gave one of
the best teams in MLS ANOTHER star player and has fans in New York talking MLS Cup.
Just how good is New York now? Here's how the starting lineup looks like now:
Yes, Greg Sutton started the season in goal, but Coundoul was the starter last year and is
starting this week.
The New York Red Bulls return to Red Bull Arena tonight to take on the Houston Dynamo in the
first match since New York's blockbuster trade for Dwayne DeRosario (7:30pm, MSG2).
The Red Bulls come in off an impressive 0-0 road draw played without most of the team's top
players, while the Dynamo come in searching for a sorely-needed victory after starting the season
0-1-1.
The premise appears perfectly suited for such a tongue-in-cheek day: a perennially unsuccessful
franchise ships away its unsettled local star on a day best reserved for timely injections of
humor. The April Fools Day blockbuster struck between New York and Toronto FC surely would have
constituted a prank for the ages if it had not actually occurred.

Amid the hype surrounding D.C. United's blockbuster acquisition of Dwayne De Rosario on Monday,
the club's trade with San Jose for center back Brandon McDonald a few hours earlier largely flew
under the radar.
Following last week's blockbuster announcement that sent one of the best
playmakers in MLS history to D.C. United, things have been interesting at RFK Stadium over the past
seven days. It was tough to say goodbye to a quality player and teammate in Dax McCarty, but as Ben
Olsen put it, "you have to give up something of quality to get something good in return.
Liverpool Reserves made a thrilling start to life under new boss Rodolfo Borrell as they were held
to a 4-4 draw with Brentford on Tuesday afternoon.
The Reds got off to a flyer and it all looked to be going to plan when Suso netted a spot-kick
inside the opening 10 minutes.
However, the Bees responded and were level less than a minute later courtesy of a long range strike
from Emmanuel Oyekele.

Amid widespread rumors of Carlos Tevez seeking a transfer away from Manchester City this summer,
influential defender Vincent Kompany has moved to dismiss any thoughts of a downfall in the club's
fortunes. The Belgian center-back has been somewhat of a sensation for the Citizens, and he is
adamant that no one player defines the club, and is certain that they will adjust should Tevez
leave.

Thanks Moses, Jesus and Chewbacca the Premier League is back though, we can't lie, the opening
day was a little bit on the pap side here's our pick of the photos...
Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal: Joey Barton hoists Gervinho to his feet after the Ivorian had
collapsed in the Newcastle penalty area looking for a spot-kick.
All aboard shut the doors please! It is that time soon when the helter-skelter known as the
transfer window deadline fast approaches with many clubs hoping to bolster their squad before the
clock strikes midnight. Will Sagna and Song be joined by Malouda by the end of today? We have seen
some blockbuster moves [.
Farewell Mikel Arteta, hello Ross Barkley? is a post from: Just Football
by Jonah Loeb
A friend of mine, an Arsenal supporter, sent me an e-mail about fifteen minutes after
Mikel Arteta's £10m transfer to Arsenal went through. It began "Hope you're
holding up OK," and ended "I feel bad that it went down like this.
Give Torres until New Year... then sell him if he keeps firing blanks
Andre Villas-Boas should take some time to sit down with Fernando Torres before Sunday's
blockbuster against Manchester United. Not to advise him on how to take on Phil Jones and Chris
Smalling but to make him a commitment and give him an ultimatum.

United and City fans agree on very little, but they seem to be unified in their ire towards

Dalglish & Co Coming to Silver Screen in ‘Will'
Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard make cameo roles alongside several big names in football-based

Wenger's, Le Professeur...but he can't match this.....
It may come as no surprise that in the Fantasy Football competition hosted on the English
Premier League's website, the more a player is worth doesn't necessarily mean that that player will
produce more fantasy points.
Jack Dunn struck a double as Liverpool U18s continued their superb away form with a 2-1 win at
Manchester United on Friday afternoon.
The highly-rated England U17 starlet got the Reds off to a flyer when he drilled home inside the
first minute to net his fifth goal of the campaign.
United responded and Sam Byrne's neat finish soon after looked to have earned the hosts a share of
the spoils in what proved to be an end-to-end encounter.
