Wenger targets Italian trio.
Italy Under-21 international Angelo Ogbonna has insisted he knows nothing about reported
interest from England.
The 21-year-old defender has come through the youth system at Serie B Torino and is now

Wenger plays hardball
Thomas Vermaelen may be Arsenal's sole purchase during the current transfer window as
Saint Etienne's valuation of star midfielder Blaise Matuidi differs from Arsene Wenger's, and the
Gunners' boss is not prepared to pay £8 million for the player he deems to be a new version of the
talismanic Patrick Vieira.

Hi everyone hope you've had good weeks up to this point and will be looking forward to the
Celtic game tonight to probably see a few young guns in action.
But what has caught my eye today is a few journalists predicting Arsenal to be in action on
transfer deadline day and throughout the week prior to it, I'll explain:
The Dail Mirror's Football Spy
From his insider knowledge or it could be what he just made up he is predicting 2 Arsenal moves
in the last week of the transfer window:
Blaise Matuidi
This story has ran for ages and you all know who he is by now so I won't bother with huge
details but he's a Defenesive Midfielder with a great talent.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger denied he made an offer for St. Etienne's Blaise Matuidi. Wenger,
whose only summer signing has been Thomas Vermaelen at the back, was speaking ahead of today's game
against Celtic.
He said:
I deny that. The only thing I can tell you is that at the moment we are not close to signing
anybody.

A little bit of news round-up from the early part of this week. First off, Cesc has been ruled
out for tomorrow's clash with Celtic. But this doesn't really tell us anything. Wenger has said
that it might have just been a slight tweak, in which case he could be ready to play against
Manchester United on Saturday; or it could have been a pull, in which case he could be out for 3
weeks.

Wenger makes another move for impressive French youngster.
Arsene Wenger has made a fresh move for St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi after
fearing Cesc Fabregas is facing an injury lay-off.
Arsenal captain Fabregas, 22, faces a race to be fit for Saturday's trip to Manchester United
and could be out for up to three weeks with a hamstring injury.

by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsene Wenger is anything but impetuous. So can someone explain why today's
papers are suggesting that the Gunners chief is ready to renew his interest in Saint-Etienne
midfielder Blaise Matuidi?
The argument is that because Cesc Fabregas has a hamstring injury, AW has realised just how
short he is of players who could be considered suitable replacements and so has put Matuidi back on
his radar.

Wishing upon a Blaise Matuidi shaped star can become quite frustrating. Of course, I would
welcome the boy and maybe he will grow into an impressive player under Wenger. Matuidi is however,
just one year older than Denilson and Song and is smaller than both, with no Premier League or
Champions League experience.

St Etienne's Blaise Matuidi (L) maybe on his way to the Emirates
L'Equipe is reporting Arsene Wenger approached Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud inquiring
about the services of Marouane Chamakh. The Bordeaux striker had his heart set for Sunderland when
Laurent Blanc excluded that move saying it represented a step down and calling for him to remain in
Bordeaux.

by CARL ELDRIDGE Another day, another rumour dressed as a factual story. But it's not the redtop
tabloids who lead the charge into speculative stories this morning. This time it's the
Independent that has a stab at guessing who Arsene Wenger will be bringing to
Arsenal.

Tuesday is a day when you forget how sh*t Mondays really are, and after the news about ex Gunner
John Hartson, it didn't seem right to post anything else yesterday. But as life goes on, I suppose
the news breaking at the weekend that Manchester City are negotiating a 170 thousand per week, 20
to 22 million transfer for our one and only "I would play for Arsenal for nothing"
Adebayor which was confirmed by Sky sports News sources will draw only a sigh of relief that with
that kind of cash influx, we can therefore afford a decent striker as well as 22yr old Blaise
Matuidi from St Etienne.

So after a long week of Melo will sign and Melo won't it appears now conclusively that Juve have
struck a deal and Arsenal can't financially and won't match it. So this leaves the door open for
the question who will we attempt to sign now, after our main target has moved.. I shall
discuss:
Blaise Matuidi
This transfers seems to be done on the evidence of things; he is apparently in England,
according to Sky Sports news and his current club St Etienne have signed Fernande's from Man City
(Central Defensive Midfielder) and appear to be looking for another defensive minded player, from
Greece somewhere.

Every transfer window, there are at least a few moves that completely catch you by surprise,
which is surprising in itself, considering that there are so many deals that are public news well
before they're actually completed.
We've got a few of those tidbits in this morning's roundup, and we've also got several new
signings to report and to add to the summer transfer lists.

Good morning to everyone reading this post (or should I say good day if you are reading it after
12:00). There have been many rumours and gossip flying around today though a few appear to be
substantial, which is quite good. I will digress:
Blaise Matuidi
Many of the morning's papers and various other media have been reporting that Blaise Matuidi is
to sign for Arsenal for a fee ranging from £2.

Sky Sports have been reporting that not only that Arsenal are interested in signing St.
Etienne's midfielder Blaise Matuidi, but that the player is in England at the moment. They go on
to day that the play is in England with his agent and has been shown around Arsenal, and I do not
think they meant a stadium tour!

by CARL ELDRIDGE TABLOID reporters talk to each other. A lot. They swap stories, concoct
speculation and generally set the agenda on what we read about the Arsenal every day.
So you would think the respective reporters at the Sun and the Mail would have had a deadline
summit on what is going on with Arsene Wenger's target Felipe Melo, wouldn't you?

Various websites are reporting that whilst Wenger fiddles, his transfer targets could be
escaping his clutches or are they really his targets?
It is being reported that Sakho is there for the taking if only we increased our offer and
Bayern Munich are lurking in the background ready to pounce.

Saint Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi will sign for Everton this summer, according to French
radio station RMC. 22-year-old Matuidi is extremely highly-rated in his homeland and it's no secret
that Arsenal's French scout Gilles Grimandi has already watched several Les Verts matches this
season.

This is the only new transfer gossip of the day from the press apart from the obvious Cesc
Fabregas measures which says Barca, Chelsea and Real are lining up a £50 million bid. We won't
sell, well not yet anyway.
Anyway more on Matuidi of St Etienne:
Career
Matuidi was born in Toulouse, to Angolan parents.
