When it comes down to it, there are several categories which are splitting the Championship equally. The resurgence of the newly promoted teams is wowing everybody and shows that you do not have to spend large sums to get success. Unlike their Premier League counterparts, they do not have millions to spare and could prove to be tricky.

Optimism is abound at Anfield following a busy, yet successful transfer window period, in which numerous players of quality arrived.
Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Jose Enrique and Craig Bellamy are all established names with proven track records at their respective clubs prior to joining Liverpool.

Capello is right: alcohol DOES cast a shadow over our game

In football, just as in our ­society as a whole, there is a booze culture that is ­careering out of control. So, I was interested to hear Fabio Capello say Andy Carroll drinks too much. I have no idea whether the Liverpool star has been hitting the bottle too hard, but I know ­today's players are the product of a system that makes it tough for clubs to educate them how to refuel.

Unlike last week's loss, today held absolutely zero grasping-at-straws positives. An unhelpful, card-happy referee was the least of Liverpool's concerns. Nothing went right. No one played well. Tottenham won at a canter; a four-goal scoreline barely flatters an insipid opposition.

Why Adam's red mist means red card was inevitable

The problem with writing anything that resembles criticism of a Liverpool player is that the red half of the city seems to close ranks and take it personally. But the truth will always out – and Charlie Adam was a red card waiting to happen.

Listening to the last 15 minutes of the game last night my heart was in my mouth. Though it was a shame not to hear Connor Wickham net a last minute equaliser against the Budgies - I found it really exciting.

Shelvey Set for Blackpool Loan

Liverpool have finally been able to agree a deal to send Jonjo Shelvey on loan to Blackpool, according to Sky Sports. The prospective move comes around 3 months after the switch was initially mooted as part of the Reds' capture of Charlie Adam .

It's been revealed that midfielder Jonjo Shelvey will go out on loan to Blackpool in order to get more game time to help him develop.

Liverpool's midfield is already full of quality players and with the return from injury of Steven Gerrard, Shelvey will find it even harder to get some game time.
