Liverpool has recalled Jonjo Shelvey from his loan spell at Blackpool as speculation mounts about
the severity of Lucas Leiva's knee injury.
Shelvey, 19, has scored six goals in ten Championship appearances for the Seasiders, including a
hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of Leeds earlier this month.
Jonjo Shelvey is now back at Anfield after being recalled from his loan spell at Blackpool, but
with Lucas out for the rest of the season, and Steven Gerrard still recovering from his injury,
Liverpool are lacking real experience in midfield. Will Alberto Aquilani also be recalled?
In his weekly press conference a few minutes ago, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish confirmed the
following:
"I think if you look at the rules you'll see that it's not possible [to recall Aquilani]".
With Lucas out for the rest of the season and Steven Gerrard out until January at the very
earliest, Liverpool and Kenny Dalglish face an extended run with their two best midfielders
sidelined. The club reacted by recalling Jonjo Shelvey on Wednesday, though few expect he's
returning to regular starting minutes at Liverpool despite his success on loan with Blackpool, and
even fewer would see him as a direct replacement for Lucas in any case.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has tried to lessen the significance of the loss of midfielder
Lucas Leiva by insisting all his players have crucial roles to play.
The Scot has to contend with being without his defensive midfielder for the rest of the season. And
while the Brazil international has been key to most of what has been good about the side this
season - and last - Dalglish is confident the quality of the team will absorb the loss.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish admits he has been impressed with Queens Park Rangers as he prepares

Jonjo Shelvey is on fire at the moment. The young midfielder scored 6 goals for Blackpool during
his recent loan spell, and after being called back to Liverpool by Kenny Dalglish (as cover for
Lucas Leiva) he scored two excellent goals for Liverpool Reserves in the 5-1 victory against Wigan
Reserves a few days ago.
Former Liverpool defender Gary Gillespie has reiterated his claims that Charlie Adam can be as good

The Spanish international became a cult hero during his five-years at Anfield, although left for

Skysports.com understands a host of clubs are tracking Shamrock Rovers striker Karl Sheppard.
Sheppard is out of contract at the end of the month and the news has alerted a number of clubs in
England to his possible availability.
Should Sheppard leave Shamrock Rovers any compensation for his signature would be minimal as he has
only been at the League of Ireland club for a year and joined them on a free transfer.
How times have changed. So many times in the past the FA Cup giant-killers, Yeovil Town, now
stalwart members of League One were knocked out themselves this evening, at home in an FA Cup
Second Round replay, by a non-league club. The Glovers had been comfortable in the first match
against Blue Square Premier promotion chasers Fleetwood Town with a two goal lead, but two late
Fleetwood goals earned a replay at Huish Park and this evening the non-league club finished off the
job with a two goal win that hands them arguably the tie of their dreams at the start of
January.
Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey feels sorry for his team-mates who have suffered injury or
suspension, but he is ready to step up as a replacement.
The £1.7million signing from Charlton in May 2010 was at the beginning of December recalled from a
loan at Blackpool by boss Kenny Dalglish after Lucas Leiva's season was ended by knee surgery.
Liverpool legend David Fairclough believes that the 'penny may have dropped' now for midfielder
Jonjo Shelvey, who enjoyed a very productive loan spell at Blackpool before being called back to
Anfield by Kenny Dalglish as cover for Lucas Leiva. Speaking on LFC TV, Fairclough argued that
Shelvey's recent loan spell might just be the 'spark that was needed' for his development, and that
he might be
FA Cup magic alive and well on the Fylde coast
Don't tell the people of the Fylde coast that the FA Cup has lost its magic. It will be
Fleetwood versus Blackpool in the third round and in the few days since our local rivals beat

Please do your bit to help Gary Parkinson, one of this world's good guys
It has been more than 15 months since Gary Parkinson suffered a massive stroke that means the
only way he can communicate is by blinking his eyes. Parky was in charge of youth development at

Middlesbrough, Southend, Bolton, Burnley and Preston.
