Arsenal 7 (Seven)-1 Blackburn Rovers Premier League 4th February 2012
After a sustained period of dismal performances and almost no points, Arsenal needed to
rediscover their mojo on Saturday if they were to stay in the hunt for a top-four finish.
We've already seen Mario Balotelli celebrating a goal by revealing a t-shirt asking 'Why Always
Me?'. Now he's changed tack and language to declare his love for girlfriend Raffaella Fico. After
scoring against Blackburn in today's late kick-off, Balotelli lifted his shirt to show the message:
"Raffaella Ti Amo.
It shouldn't come as any surprise that the same twenty-five in clubs from last week's rankings are
all in this week's edition. That's been pretty standard recently. Nevertheless, there was more
movement than usual this week because of movement at or near the top of the tables in several of
Europe's top leagues.

How about that? The very same batch of players who managed to earn Steve Bruce a paltry 11
points from 13 games have since raked in 19 points from nine games under Martin O'Neill (including
last night's 3-0 victory over Norwich), a run that would see them topping the Premier League had
they begun counting after O'Neill's first game in charge of the Black Cats; a 2-1 win over
Blackburn on December 11th.

This may or may not be the guy
After months of vitriol and increasingly pathetic attempts to oust him from his position from
the more ridiculous sections of the club's support, Blackburn manager Steve Kean has admitted to
having hired a bodyguard to protect him at all times.

From what I've read from Mirrorfootball's 'exclusive' is that an Arsenal fan group are planning to
put bin-liners on all empty seats in the ground, in the next home match vs Blackburn, to highlight
dwindling attendances... One problem with that chaps Arsenal play to a full house practically every
game.
It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. Naturally, I'm describing Arsenal's
2011-2012 season. I'm a nice guy, and I don't want to hold Arsene wholly accountable for the team's
woes, particularly due to the simple fact that, well, that's what everybody else already does.
Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has publicly spoken of his side's recent struggles after the
Gunners could only muster a 0-0 draw against Bolton earlier this week. Arsenal have been in a poor
run of form of late, prompting many media outlets to question the future of Arsene Wenger.
"We had a lot of chances to win the game at Bolton, but once again we've not been good enough to
take them," said Arsenal's Spanish midfielder.

Ever have one of those days where you wish you hadn't gotten out of bed? Steve Kean is having one
of those seasons. Arsenal, came into the game without a win in 2012. Blackburn came in sucking. It
was bound to get ugly and it did. Quickly.Oh, where to begin... Van Persie with a goal in the 2nd
minute to start out his hat-trick.
For much of this season, Spurs number one Brad Friedel has quietly gone about his business and
at times, solid performances across the back four have provided him with little to do. When called
upon, the American is an uncomplicated keeper who has brought calm between the posts where once
there was chaos.
Alan has talked about a couple of players that haven't been used much recently, but the
Newcastle manager thinks will soon come to the fore. Ben Arfa scoring that fantastic goal against

International Ben Arfa and Shola Ameobi to come forward and help the team during their vital 13

In his press conference yesterday Alan talked about the league game tonight at Ewood Park

vicious fan protests against their manager [.

Anyone who has ever watched Sky Sports News on either August 31st or January 30th will already
be well acquainted with Jim White; the insufferable, eardrum-rupturing Scotch twat that covers the
deadline day vinegar strokes, booming away like a foghorn as, say, Bradley Orr arrives at Blackburn
for a routine medical, etc, etc.
Newcastle managed to keep all their top players during the January transfer window, and even
bring in top Senegal striker Papiss Cisse for £9M from SC Freiburg. The Senegal strikers Demba Ba
and Papiss will not however be available for tonight's game at Blackburn, and the big problem we
have about this game is who is [.
Some time in December, a story emerged in the papers linking Spurs with a move for Manchester
City's Carlos Tevez. In truth, nobody really believed it but at the time, a ‘source' stated that
it would be the biggest deal since Klinsmann.
In the end, we got a transfer that was reminiscent of a deadline day deal that happened a few
years ago.

Fabricio Coloccini as expected is back in the starting line-up for Newcastle at Ewood Park
tonight. Coloccini missed Saturday's FA Cup 1-0 defeat at Brighton with a slight groin strain, but

Newcastle halted their recent decline with a very valuable away victory at Ewood Park.
Newcastle United are up to fifth in the Premier League after they beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0,
while Arsenal's poor run of form continues as they were held 0-0 at Bolton.
Newcastle are now just three points behind Chelsea and a UEFA Champions League place as the
Magpies leapfrog both Liverpool and Arsenal with the win.
A delighted Alan Pardew was full of praise for his players last night, after the lads had won 2-0
and beaten Blackburn for the third time in four meetings this season. Alan Pardew
congratulates goal-scorer Obertan last night Standing just outside the tunnel of Ewood Park last
night after the game, this is what Alan Pardew told nufcTV: "I felt we [.
Critics may already be writing off Arsenal's chances of a top-four finish after last night's
goalless draw at Bolton but manager Arsene Wenger has evidence that his side his actually
improving.
In his post-match press conference, Wenger was reminded that earning only a point in their last
four fixtures had pushed the Gunners to seventh position in the Premier League standings.

This one's for JS; a GIF or two of Blackburn winger Junior Hoilett's awful, downright shameful
attempted penalty con against Newcastle last night that eventually led to Ryan Taylor getting
booked for having the gumption to be majorly pissed off by the Canadian's little flop.
Here is your chance to win VIP tickets to see Arsenal face Blackburn in the Premier League at
the Emirates on Saturday in a game that is vital to Arsene Wenger's outfit's season.
After the disappointing run of form, Wenger will be desperate to see off the Rovers challenge
and grab three points so crucial in the Gunners' bid to capture a top four spot.

After I wrote a while ago that Manchester City were the clear favourites for the Premier League
title this year, my opinion seems to have changed over the past few weeks. Their recent form has
seen them playing decent enough but Manchester United have gone that extra mile. Manchester City
has lost on far too many occasions this season.
Blackburn's Junior Hoilett does his best Scuba-Diving impression against Newcastle last night
and not only does he get away scot free, his opponent Ryan Taylor is given a yellow card for
venting his anger. It's time the FA stood up and banned this type of behaviour once and for
all!

The winter transfer window closed this past Tuesday, and a pair of Americans who secured moves
during it will be looking to make their debuts this weekend.
George John and Robbie Rogers could make their first appearances abroad for West Ham United and
Leeds United, respectively, as the Championship gets back into a full weekend swing.
There are rumours that Arsene Wenger is considering giving Robin Van Persie a break this weekend
against Blackburn to try and freshen him up for the three upcoming away games against Sunderland,
AC Milan and (probably) Sunderland again. Van Persie has scored 21 goals in 23 games this season,
but his shooting hasn't been quite [.
