Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie has claimed that his teammates outplayed Blackburn in
Saturday's 4-3 defeat and he is still shocked that Steve Kean's struggling outfit was able to score
four times.
Although the Dutchman acknowledged the need to stop conceding soft goals in order to rebound
quickly from a third defeat in only five Premier League matches, he reminded the Rovers that they
were fortunate to emerge as the winning side at Ewood Park.
Ok, before getting into the match analysis I just want to congratulate Blackburn Rovers and
Steve Kean. They worked hard, took whatever came their way, and fully deserve to move up from the
bottom of the table.
Now let's get on with Arsenal. What does one say after a performance like that?

a game of some lower placed teams. The game between Fulham and Blackburn Rovers and the ref was

There comes a point in every player's career when they must be sacrificed in favour of a younger
man. The natural order of football means there will always be a younger model, keen to take your
place in the side. This is even more pertinent in international football, with players increasingly
wanting to extend their club careers.

Protest seems to be the words on the lips of two sets of fans in the Premier League this week as
they have grown tired of their club's plight.
Everton and Blackburn supporters are not known for their militancy, in fact protest goes against
Blackburn's sleepy Lancashire town image. Evertonians meanwhile usually see protests as
‘something Liverpool fans do'.

Arsenal visit Dortmund, the self-professed football capital of the world, to open a Champions
League group phase that promises to be the toughest one in recent years. BVB are by far the best
team from the fourth pot and could quite possible provide a sterner challenge than the other two
teams in the group.
Save that could have bigger implications later
It's Friday and that means only one more day to Premier League football. We are visiting Ewood
Park tomorrow to play Blackburn Rovers. Although this comes directly after the Champions League tie
away to Dortmund and this being an early fixture, I believe there's ample time for the players to
recover from their midweek exertions.
Arsenal have a terrific record against Blackburn, and look a solid bet to get their season back
on...

It'd be hard to find many teams that have had a more difficult start to the season than the
Gunners. But few will argue that the next club to host Arsenal isn't facing desperate times.
As a Gooner one can sympathize with another club that is looking to do things the right way. The
new owners don't seem to be very popular amongst the Ewood Park faithful but won my approval when
they sacked Fat Sam.
The Game An early kick-off, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool to have
non-easy games on Sunday, this weekend could be the one in which our Premier League campaign
finally kicks off. As I said yesterday ...
This could be Arsene Wenger next week!
Blackburn Rovers came from behind twice to beat Arsenal 4-3 at Ewood Park today
in a pulsating seven goal thriller.
Gervinho gave the Gunners the lead in the 10th minute in his first EPL game
back from suspension, before Blackburn striker Yakubu scored his first of two 15
minutes later, however Yakubu's former Everton team-mate Mikel Arteta was to have
the last say of the first half with his first Gunners goal giving his side a half-time lead.
There is potentially some very good news being reported in the Sunday Sun today. Davide
Santon may be ready for next Saturday? And that is that Davide Santon's knee injury is likely to
be not as severe as first thought, and it may be that he is available for next Saturday's home
game against an improving Blackburn Rovers side.

After a disappointing result against Blackburn at the weekend, the hope is that the Carling Cup
will offer a welcome distraction from the travails of the Premier League. Certainly it will be a
youthful side put out by Arsenal, but there are a few fringe players in need of game time that will
offer experience.
After initially attributing Arsenal's shocking 4-3 defeat at Blackburn to fatigue and a stroke
of misfortune, Arsene Wenger has finally broken his silence on what he thinks has led to the club's
worst start in 58 years.
The Gunners have managed only four points from 15 in their opening five fixtures and their
latest setback at Ewood Park caused many to wonder precisely what it is that continues to cause
issues at the Emirates Stadium despite a host of major signings bolstering the squad at the
transfer deadline day.

In a move which will no doubt have taunted the Elland Road faithful, Sir Alex Ferguson moved
striker Dimitar Berabtov back into a central defensive role (alongside Michael Carrick, no less)
for the final stages of United's comfortable victory over Leeds United on Tuesday evening.

Why Arsenal must change their ways or risk being left behind
It takes many years to build a club and a reputation like Arsene Wenger has done at Arsenal. But
the way football is these days means you can destroy all that good work in the blink of an eye.
Fans have such short memories.
Demba Ba got his Newcastle goal tally up and running against Blackburn on Saturday at Saint James'
Park in sensational fashion. After early indifference from some, when he was not quite up to pace
due to his religious commitments, he's slowly started to build his fitness. He started to show some
of his movement, touch [.

Having apparently missed out on another footballing bad boy in the shape of El Hadji Diouf,
Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders has now snapped up former Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda.
The 32-year-old Frenchman, a free agent since leaving QPR in April, was part of Les Bleus' squad
at the 2006 World Cup Finals and has also had spells at Wigan, Sunderland and Blackburn.

The player we thought we had, and would have liked to have, was Andre-Pierre Gignac. Gignac is
a bit of an enigma: he scored 24 goals in Ligue 1 a couple of seasons back, which is hugely
impressive in one of the most defensive leagues in Europe. The problem is he's never been near to
that figure before or since (although his goals-to-games ratio has always been quite good).
Everton's troubles continue as they were only able to name 18 players, seven short of the
maximum, in their official squad submitted to the Premier League.
However, that 18 does not include Under-21 players, so the likes of Ross Barkley do not feature
but are still eligible to play as clubs can use an unlimited number of younger-age players.
International weeks are never welcome however, this international break has come at a rather
helpful time for Arsenal. If Arsene can pull himself away from his commentary duties on French TV
and get back on the training ground trying to sort out his new-look squad, we could emerge from an
international break a much more formidable team for once.
Rovers are revolting You will recall we brought you footage of Blackburn's hilarious advert to flog
chicken for their owners Venky's in July. Along with everyone else we had lots of fun with the fowl
as in chicken/foul as in poor tackle pun. But now Rovers defender Michel Salgado has confirmed that
the food genuinely [.
A tale of desperation and the struggle for points and fulfilment in a world where both seem
impossible. The game highlights the emotional and physical hothouse effects that bloom for two
distressed teams beginning their seasons like rats in a rum barrel: Fulham, behind a placid
exterior, hide an untapped intelligence and a yearning for something beyond the emptiness of
mid-table safety; Blackburn are arrogant, spoiled and cynical.
The standard narrative is that international breaks are an unnecessary disruption where players get
hurt and clubs suffer. But is that really the case?
The short answer is: it depends. Liverpool were worse after the international breaks in the
previous two seasons, had the same record before and after in 2008-09, and were actually better in
2007-08.

It always seemed a rather strange decision by the Venkys bigwigs to jettison Sam Allardyce for
not playing attractive enough football only to promote his second in command, Steve Kean, to the
top job.
Prior to jumping into the hot-seat at Ewood Park, the 43-year-old Scot had never managed a team
himself, instead racking up a number of assistant manager gigs at the likes of Fulham and Coventry
City.
According to reports Blackburn Rovers are interested in Watford forward Marvin Sorrell.
The 20 year-old striker is reported to have been scouted by Rovers as well as Liverpool and
Tottenham Hotspur.
