Is Ashley Cole the dumbest man on the planet. Fresh from England's disastrous World Cup campaign in South Africa you would think this guy would lie low and keep his mouth shut, but no Ashley Cole goes out of his way to irritate the English people further, some of which have stood by him through thick and thin.

One of the few very few bright spots of England's miserable World Cup campaign was the form of Ashley Cole. The England left back had a decent World Cup 2010, and has avoided most of the criticism directed at the team by, well, everyone who saw the team play in South Africa. But a story in The Sun yesterday has ruined all that.

During the game between Spurs and City yesterday ESPN put up a graphic (above) that showed City heading to the Champions League and that could be further from the truth. Spurs won the game and are heading to the Champions League playoffs but ESPN got the graphic wrong so they get a FAIL.

Let's take a moment to light a candle simply because these men of Serie A are too ferosha for words and all of you are going to need Eye Drops every soon (except the hombres because Megan Fox didn't RVSP to this!) Anyway, because they're not exactly doing anything important these days, Uncle Galliani summoned the Rossoneri to turn up at the First Annual Champions Gala for the "Champions For Children" Foundation last night.

The World Cup is almost here and OTWT will be sending the national team in style. The tailgating gang has gotten ticket to see the United States Men National Team vs Turkey May 29 in Philly, it will be their final game before they head to South Africa.

Just got back to the home office from the USA Turkey game and here are a couple of quick thoughts:
• Someone should steal Spector's passport and not let him on the plane, he is terrible and I mean terrible.
• Findley's speed is going to be an asset late in games.
• For all of the crap little Bradley has taken over the years, he is our most consistent player.

The New York Red Bulls have started to tease the soccer world about their newest signing. Today in the New York Times, the MLS team printed a special section that showed off what the Red Bull company is doing and on the back of the magazine it had an ad for their newest player, which is expected to be TH14.

U.S. forward Sydney Leroux, the youngest player in WNT camp at age 20, has done well during her first-ever call-up, but she might remember the experience for another reason. The other day at training, she broke her right thumb. How does a soccer player break her thumb, you ask? Well, a ball skipped hard off the wet turf and caught her thumb at just the wrong angle.

It's an interesting day if you're a football fan who owns a smartphone. The BBC has announced it will make all England's World Cup games available live if you have the right phone.
Fans will also be able to watch clips of other matches whenever they like. If you don't know whether you have a smartphone or not, here's the definition of one from a Telegraph report:
"The smartphone is a mobile phone with 3G Internet connection, typically with a 3in or larger touchscreen display capable of browsing the web and viewing video".

Last night I decided to commentate on the Real Madrid – Barcelona game via Twitter for BlackBerry. In case you don't know, the Twitter concept involves users submitting messages of no more than 140 characters on whatever subject they choose. Of course mine is the World Cup and I wanted to keep a close eye on Lionel Messi after his recent performances.

It goes without saying that U.S. General Manager Pam Perkins is extremely busy on the eve of a World Cup. So when Landon Donovan texted her this evening, she was likely in the middle of five different tasks at the same time. A quick check of her Blackberry saw that Landon was asking if she had any "candies.

So my wife went shopping yesterday and bought a case of Coke, I know not a big deal. But the Coke packaging had all types of World Cup designs on them. It made me very happy. Even the soda has World Cup fever, who is going to be next to catch it.

As you can see, Lampsy is not best pleased with the delay in sending our birthday wishes for his 32nd year gracing the earth. He cares not of day jobs, hangovers, or Blackberry batteries that were never charged due to organizational issues and/or memory failure due to alcohol consumption.

In late July, I will be headed to see my favorite club team, Manchester United, play the Philadelphia Union. I can not wait.

Since the start of the World Cup, twitter has its issues just like officials at the tournament. Since most of the games are played during the weekdays and I use the social networking site for work, I have noticed something about site, it can not handle the World Cup. As the days have passed I have become very good friends with the "Fail Whale.

Here are my quick thoughts:
• Henry looks like he still has it and will be great in MLS. Nice way to start for him scoring against an old North London rival.
• With Croatia not making the World Cup that should give the Spurs Croatian group a nice rest and allow them to be fresh for the season.

Next up at Barclay's New York Football Challenge is Manchester City vs. Sporting Lisbon.
Here are so quick thoughts:
• The thing with City is very simple, they now have a huge squad. Its going to take a couple of weeks for them to all get on the same page. Which could set them back.

How many players are too many player well this is Manchester City squad, according to wikipedia. Now that is a large list and that does not include the possible signings of Mario Balotelli and Torres. I hope there is a plan to off load some of these player. That is just way too many players to have on one team.

During the course of the long holiday weekend I have been able to watch a couple of different soccer games and came away impressed by a pair of young midfielders.
On Wednesday, I watched United play Rangers in the Champions League and came away very impressed with Rangers six foot two inch 19 year old midfielder Kyle Hutton.
