Premier League fans in the United States will once again get the chance to see Burnley take on
their new Premiership opposition. This week it comes in the form of Sunderland at Turf Moor.
When the schedule was initially released before the season started, I doubt that many people
were circling this date on their calendars.
Is Harry looking to sign another of his former players?
Telegraph Sport can reveal that Spurs are trying to sign Anton Ferdinand from
Sunderland.
The 24-year-old central defender has been tracked by Spurs for some time – they attempted to sign
him when he was at West Ham – but he chose to move to Sunderland for £8 million.
The lunchtime kickoff match was as good as advertised. Both teams came into the match with
something to prove. Burnley had won eight straight matches at Turf Moor dating back to last season.
Sunderland, meanwhile, had only scored two goals in their last nine away matches
in the Premier League.
Premiership clubs have spent a lot of money on new players this summer and even
though it is still too early to make final judgment, some of them have already started to
prove their potential. Six games is definitely not enough time for players to show all
they've got, but a couple of summer signings have made a big impact already and I felt obliged to
create the top 5 list.
Done Deal
Stoke City have completed the signing of defender Danny Collins from Sunderland for a
fee of £2.75million. (Sky Sports)
After five years good service at Sunderland Danny Collins has joined his former Black Cats
teammate Dean Whitehead at the Britannia Stadium.
After experiencing a promising start in the top flight by defeating the current Premiership
champions, Burnley's form went crashing down with two heavy road defeats at the hands of Chelsea
and Liverpool, 3-0 and 4-0 respectively. Now, they have to defend their perfect record at home
against Sunderland, who come pumped and ready after thrashing Hull City 4-1 at home.
With yet another exciting Premier League weekend in the books it's time to review this weekend's
winners and losers.
Winners Robbie Keane
Robbie Keane emerges from this weekend as the biggest winner. The Tottenham striker has had a
relatively quiet start to the season, oftentimes playing second fiddle to the red hot Jermain
Defoe.
Following Sunderland's hard fought 5-2 win over Wolves, Darren Bent was in the spotlight once
again. Not only did the English frontman grab a brace (although the second goal has since been
declared an own goal by Wolves defender Michael Mancienne), but Bent stole the headlines with his
generous act of handing teammate Kenwyne Jones a penalty.
It's time for another edition of the Manchester Derby, and City must already be lamenting its
bad luck.
With Emmanuel Adebayor suspended, Robinho and Roque Santa Cruz definitely out with injury and
Carlos Tevez a serious doubt with a knee injury, the upstarts may be hurting for strike options in
Sunday's clash.

Mick McCarthy took Wolverhampton Wanderers to his old club Sunderland, but Wolves ended up at the
receiving end of a 5-2 scoreline. A flattering result for the Black Cats, but at the end of the
day, it is three points in the bag, and another home win for them. Final score :- Sunderland 5-2
