Arsene Wenger has his sights set on Sunderland captain Lorik Cana as he aims to bring some bite
to Arsenal's lightweight midfield. Reports from the Sunderland Echo suggest that Arsenal
will do their best to sign the Albanian midfielder when the transfer window opens.
Cana is a new signing at the Stadium of Light having joined the Black Cats over the summer.

Patience is a virtue, and for two of the Premier League's best players, that patience has
finally paid off. The crazy thing about it all? These two players are on the same team! And the
lucky team is Sunderland.
It was just last season that Sunderland were in the heat of the relegation battle.

Given the title of this article, I could be about to tell you about how the strike duo of Darren
Bent and Kenwyne Jones will be leading Sunderland to new heights in the Premier League this season,
but we will save that for a later date. I'd rather make a bold statement and talk about the bottom
of the table at the moment.

With yet another exciting Premier League weekend in the books it's time to review this weekend's
winners and losers.
Winners Robbie Keane
Robbie Keane emerges from this weekend as the biggest winner. The Tottenham striker has had a
relatively quiet start to the season, oftentimes playing second fiddle to the red hot Jermain
Defoe.

After experiencing a promising start in the top flight by defeating the current Premiership
champions, Burnley's form went crashing down with two heavy road defeats at the hands of Chelsea
and Liverpool, 3-0 and 4-0 respectively. Now, they have to defend their perfect record at home
against Sunderland, who come pumped and ready after thrashing Hull City 4-1 at home.

The first defeat of the season is always the most tricky one to deal with. Perhaps that explains
why some feel that the earlier it comes, the better. At the beginning of the 2007-08
season, a determined young Arsenal squad made a typically flying start to
the campaign.

Another week of Premiership action is now in the books, and Thursday means one thing: it's time
for the Thursday Throwdown from A to Z. Here we go...
AÂ is for Anelka. Chelsea fans should be counting their lucky stars that both
Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba are in spectacular form.

This summer may have seemed a bit boring as far as transfers go, but things are finally heating
up. Manchester City and Real Madrid were the overwhelming big spenders during the blistering hot
summer months, but with only a few days remaining the "smaller" clubs are working hard to fill out
their squads for the fall and winter.

As Chelsea strolled out of Sunderland on Tuesday night, most of Sunderland's players headed home
with their heads down and their tails between their legs. One man, though, is enjoying a phenomenal
start to life at a new club. That man is none other than Darren Bent.
In the first half Darren Bent gave the Black Cats a 1-0 lead over Chelsea.

Steve Bruce will face the first competitive game of the season as Sunderland
manager after impressing with Birmingham City and Wigan
Athletic.
After managing to avoid the drop last season, the influx of money has been the Black
Cats buy a few relatively big name players.

I am not quite sure how much of an audience an article about the German Bundesliga can get, but
I will still give it a shot. After all, if there is one league that has continued to offer an
air-tight title race throughout the year, it has to be the German first division. With two games to
go, as many as four teams have a realistic chance of being crowned champions.

Ten things I noticed from this week's Champions League semifinals:
1. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth
Results lie. Sometimes. If not, then in the last 5 years I've been privileged enough to watch
the great Greek team of 2004 justly claim their prize as the greatest international team in
Europe.

Ten things I noticed from this week's Champions League semifinals:
1. Much Ado About Nothing – Much to the woe of slobbering, over enthusiastic
journalists everywhere, the Barcelona myth was partially debunked on Tuesday. It's not that they
were awful by any stretch of the imagination, but when faced with an equally good team who didn't
stand aside and let them play through them they looked more than a little stumped.

It's always this way, isn't it? You wait forever for one bus and then four or five come along at
once. After a fairly drab season by Premier League standards, it's all gone frigging loopy as the
fight for European and domestic dominance reaches its final stretch. A month ago we (well mainly I,
but I'm sure you, too) were bemoaning the lack of really exciting games from the 08-09 Premier
League season.

So, lets get straight to it. It's the question on everybody's lips. Did Sir Alex Ferguson
disrespect the FA Cup by fielding the cast of Skins? There were rumblings as soon as I entered the
stadium. Some people had seen it on TV in one of the many bars, some had been phoned by friends,
some were just wildly speculating.

All season long the relegation battle has made pundits around the world look foolish. With no
true contenders in sight - or maybe far too many contenders - the relegation battle has been
anyone's guess. On the Premiership Talk Podcast, Taylor and I have thrown many guesses out there,
and in an interview Football Corner's Cathal Breathnach even suggested Portsmouth could be facing
the drop.

Following Liverpool's 4-0 victory over Blackburn, Rafa Benitez couldn't contain his obsession
with Manchester United. As he has done so often this season, Rafa had something to say about
United.
Like all of the other times, Benitez today said that the "pressure is on United." I'm not sure
about you, but I'm convinced that the Spaniard is obsessed with Manchester United.

While some of us Premier League fans must be jubilant with celebrations right now, others are
still sure to be hurting, as the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals is already in the
books. Rather than reviewing the Champions League results, however, this article focuses on moving
on to this weekend's Premier League fixtures for the "Big Four", and how their Champions League
outings will end up affecting their Premier League outings this weekend.

Most people in the UK cannot fall asleep before watching the final airing of Sky News, as they just
need their regular dose of football. Tuesday night, however, the entire UK watched as a major
development came into effect. This development primarily concerned only one region - the Northeast
- but it has the potential to eventually impact the entire nation.

I'll be the first to admit that before the season started, I was looking forward to seeing the
2008/09 Portsmouth team assert themselves within the top ten. I'll also to be the first to admit
that Portsmouth have been the second most disappointing side this season (second only to
Tottenham). Now, with Tony Adams out the door and countless stars sold, Portsmouth need a hero.

Ricky Sbragia must surely be thinking that he is living the life of luxury. Since taking over from
Roy Keane, Sbragia has slowly been leading Sunderland from the bottom of the Premier League to the
edge of the top half. Sunderland's 1-0 win against Fulham tonight propels them up to 11th in the
table, and just five points away from a potential European spot.
