As the U.S. men's national team continues its winless stretch, the team keeps tumbling down the
FIFA rankings.
The United States is No. 31 in the latest rankings, down three spots after losses to Costa Rica
and Belgium earlier this month.

As you're probably all too aware, the 1-1 draw at QPR on Sunday was our 5th draw of the season.
And we've only played six games. And we remain unbeaten. You knew that, right?
Of course you did.
You might not be aware that this means we've drawn 83.33% of the (admittedly limited number of)
games so far, or that we'll finish up drawing 31 or 32 games by the end of the season if this
pattern continues.
Barcelona have confirmed that former Arsenal winger Alexander Hleb will spend yet another season
away from the Catalan club as he is being loaned out to German outfit VfL Wolfsburg.
Belarus international Hleb rose to prominence during an impressive three-year spell during which
he made 129 appearances and netted on 10 occasions in all competitions.
Over the next five days England have two very important games that will go a long way to
resolving what you'll be doing and where you'll be doing it next Summer. The answer we're all
hoping for is ‘watching England playing in Euro 2012' regardless of whether that's in the Ukraine
and Poland, in an Irish pub somewhere in the Med or (in my case) the biennial ritual hiding behind
the sofa with the curtains drawn whilst swearing your head off and trying not to scare the
neighbours.
Transfer deadline day deals: The view from the Championship is a post from: Just Football
WHILE the lavish spending of the Premier League's big boys captured most of the limelight on
transfer deadline day, there was also plenty of business done in the second tier. James McMath

Spector (left) has played abroad since 2003.Jonathan Spector was one of a few MNT players to move to a new club this summer. After five years
in London with West Ham United, Spector moved north to Birmingham City. He's still only 25 but he's
already been abroad for eight years. We asked Spector about the move and what he's looking forward
to this coming season with his new club.
Their Words It was a strange experience for me. I spent five years at West Ham which in soccer
terms is a really long time. Making that move was different and not going through preseason meant
there was a little bit of a learning curve and some catching up to do. I felt really welcome at the
club and in the end it was easy to settle in.

Europa League Preview: Tottenham, Fulham, Stoke and Birmingham in a confusing European adventure
- originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The draw for the group stages of this season's Europa League has thrown up a number of difficult
and interesting challenges for England's representatives, with qualification through to the
knock-out stages far from assured.
As last season began to draw to a close, it seemed as though Roman Pavlyuchenko would be the
first player to leave White Hart Lane this summer. Despite leading the scoring amongst our three
regular strikers, Pav was very vocal in his desire to leave for a chance of more regular
football.
All that seemed to change following his two long range strikes against Birmingham City on the
last day of the campaign.
Hibernian striker Garry O' Connor (28) was in hiding last night after the 16 times
capped Scottish striker was accused of failing a drugs test in 2009/10 while
playing for Birmingham City in the Premier League.
And to add insult to injury it is alleged that O'Connor was also charged with fraud after his
£100,000 Ferrari was mysteriously found crashed a few short miles from his home a few months
ago.
There was nothing concrete upon which to link Birmingham City winning the League Cup with their
relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, of course, but it didn't stop some
from asserting exactly this and it hasn't stopped panicky-looking managers whose main ambition for
this season is to finish seventeenth in the Premier League from effectively binning England's
second cup competition.

DDDWDDLWLLDDLLWL No, this isn't the code to unlock the hidden levels on Angry Birds. It's Arsenal
record in the league after their Carling Cup Final collapse in February against Birmingham City.
The wins for Arsenal came against Blackpool,...

It took an intense penalty shoot-out for Chelsea to overcome West London rivals Fulham at
Stamford Bridge and advance to the next round of Carling Cup.
After a goalless stalemate, which involved another injury for Petr Cech, a knock for Daniel
Sturridge, and a red card for Alex, the Blues needed an inconclusive spot-kick from the Cottagers's
summer signing Bryan Ruiz to emerge triumphant.
Owen Hargreaves backed for England return Manchester City | Mail Online.
Over at The Etihad Stadium tonight, one of the feel good stories of the season emerged
as former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves scored his first goal for his
new club Manchester City in their League Cup tie against Birmingham City.
Iceberg ahoy! Newcastle might be over-performing at the moment, but right-back Danny Simpson is
following a dangerous template for the season. The ex-Manchester United man wants the Magpies to
emulate Birmingham City's achievements last season. He told the Mirror: "We think we can go far in
the Carling Cup look at Birmingham last season.
The third round of Carling Cup continues on Wednesday night and some memorable moments occurred
on the day especially for Manchester City fans as they witnessed the return of injury plagued Owen
Hargreaves, who made a memorable comeback with a special goal.
The ex Manchester United player's goal helped his team to beat the Cup's defending Champion,
Birmingham City, a result which was followed by other top premiership sides, Liverpool and Chelsea,
who were victorious as well.
Manchester City midfielder Owen Hargreaves has been tipped to reclaim a spot in the England side
after a superb debut showing during the Carling Cup. Hargreaves netted his first goal for his new
club as Manchester City ran out 2-0 winners over holders Birmingham City in their Third Round
Carling Cup tie at Eastlands.

Back to black Not all footballers like the glare of media attention, but few quite as literally as
Espanyol striker Walter Pandiani. The ex-Birmingham City man is a sweaty chap and the bright lights
of television only exacerbate this problem. Watch as the Uruguayan's light grey shirt magically
turns black over the course of this [.

YouTube is being very uncooperative today, which is good, because they waited for the redheaded
stepchild of European competition gamedays to fail.
And speaking of lesser beings...
This is what happens when you allow a second division club into a European competition. Well,
not necessarily, it could happen to anyone, but the symmetry is simply too easy.
