It feels like the season has really begun now, the international break is well behind us, the
Champions League & the Europa League are in full swing, and the big clashes are starting to come
thick and fast.
Here are my predictions for this weekend's Premier League fixtures - make sure you add yours to
the mix and check out the podcast crew's predictions for this weekend's big matches across Europe
as well.
Every club has one. That vital cog that keeps the team wheels turning. With the season in its
infancy, supporters up and down the land are still harbouring dreams of glory (or at the very least
over achievement, given that short of a billionaire Sheikh turning up on your doorstep, thoughts of
the title are confined to a privileged few these days).

Week 3 would bring more outstanding football action to your favorite football league. Chelsea
would continue their dominant ways and prove not to go down the same negative path as they did last
year in the Carling Cup with a 3-0 victory over Burnley. Chelsea's offense is clicking on all
cylinders and looks like it might be the best in the league this season.
Well, it looks as if Lee Bowyer has upset the Croatian Football Association. Following Bowyer's
tackle on Luka Modric during the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Birmingham City on Saturday,
which resulted in a broken leg for the Croatian international, the president of Hrvatski Nogometni
Savez (the Croatian Football Federation), Vlatko Markovic, has concluded that there is a conspiracy
amongst English clubs to injure Croatian players.
Aston Villa have completed the signing of Ireland defender Richard Dunne after the Premier
League ratified his £6million move from Manchester City.
Dunne was unable to finalise his switch to Villa Park on Tuesday despite the paperwork having
already been sent off to the Premier League.
Celtic's Scott Brown scored the opener for George Burley's Scotland side, still hoping to clinch
second spot in their World Cup group. Birmingham City's James McFadden made the game safe with a
great solo effort.

It has been a below-par start to the season for Liverpool in terms of results and performance, and
although nothing is decided in August or September, there is precious little room for error from
this point forward. As such, I have gone through the club's remaining fixtures for the season and
looked at the type of results Liverpool must arguably achieve in order to win the title.
That's right football fans. You're favorite palm reading psychic is back and this week Miss
Cleo looks to continue her good fortune with some more winning picks. After a 5-5 start Miss Cleo
used some Windex and wiped away some of the blotches on the old crystal ball and the last two
weeks she has on fire with a 14-3 record.

There have only been 46 games so far this season but already there are some notable - or perhaps
anomolous - statistics. Courtesy of Football365, here are the most salient in a club-by-club
format...
Arsenal
*Tomas Rosicky's first outing in 20 months also included a goal.
I settled down yesterday afternoon ready for one of those great footballing days that come along
every now and again. I had the prospect of 4 matches in a row to keep me entertained (including
Charlton v Brentford!) and to see if Scotland could get a win against Macedonia. It was an
opportunity to run the rule over a few players who have returned to regular football in the
Premiership and see just what Scotland could do.
Via YahooUK!/Eurosport:Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is poised to hand a first Premier League start
to striker Christian Benitez in Sunday's derby with Aston Villa at St Andrew's.Benitez, signed from
Santos Laguna, has impressed as a substitute and is now at full fitness after undergoing shoulder
surgery at the beginning of the summer.
What's next with Manchester against Birmingham city? Is this going to be another big fight for the
two great soccer teams? Airdate will be on August 15. How would Alex Ferguson handle this event?

A late Gabriel Agbonlahor goal was the only thing separating these two sides in the Birmingham

As the EPL and the rest of Europe completes the first month of the domestic season, it is
interesting to look at the travels of perhaps the EPL's greatest finisher: one Robbie Fowler.
Having been discarded by Blackburn amidst the outing of old friend Paul Ince, many wondered what
Fowler's next move would be.
Just four and a half matches into James McFadden's return to the Premier League, fate has struck
in a not so friendly manner. Halfway through Birmingham City's clash with Aston Villa in the Second
City Derby, McFadden, the Blues' fearless leader, was carted off the field. All reports have
indicated that he has a torn thigh muscle.
The first defeat of the season is always the most tricky one to deal with. Perhaps that explains
why some feel that the earlier it comes, the better. At the beginning of the 2007-08
season, a determined young Arsenal squad made a typically flying start to
the campaign.
Arsene interested in Hammers pair.
Arsenal have been linked with a stunning double swoop on cash strapped West Ham
United.
Highly rated youngster Jack Collison has caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
The 20-year-old midfielder has already turned out for Wales and has caught the eye with a number
of impressive performances.
All the European leagues are in full swing with teams starting to establish themselves as
contenders. Manchester City is keeping pace with the top 4 in England but Chelsea and Man U remain
in the top two positions. Real Madrid and FC Barcelona remain tied on points in the La Liga while
the Serie A is still wide open with many of the top clubs losing earlier.
Deal Almost complete.
Sky Sources understand Niko Kranjcar has passed his medical at Tottenham Hotspur ahead
of his proposed switch from Portsmouth.
A fee in the region of £2.5 million is said to have been agreed between the two Premier League
clubs, with Tuesday's transfer deadline looming.
Lots of transfer activity appears to be going on on the final day of the transfer window, with
some very interesting deals rumoured to be going ahead...
Probably the most interesting (or surprising) transfer rumour is that Manchester City are trying
to sign Tottenham's out of favour midfielder David Bentley.
Emmanuel Adebayor
Adebayor has been arguably the best transfer of any player for any club so far this season.
The forward scored within minutes of his debut for Manchester City and has scored three goals in
three league matches for his new club. For the second straight week, Adebayor scored the lone
goal in the match in a road win over Portsmouth.
After an international induced Premier League hiatus, England's top tier returns with some
standout games for spread punters to look forward to, featuring mouth-watering ties between North
London and Manchester's finest.
As Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester United and Arsenal make the opposite journey to face
Manchester City at Eastlands, one side from each game goes into the weekend with a 100% winning
start – but probably not the two teams that most spread bettors would have anticipated.
Ahead of this match at the DW Stadium, Gianfranco Zola has no injury worries except calf trouble
from Jack Collision sustained during a Wales U-21 match. More good news is that Valon Behrami and
Alessandro Diamanti had a fantastic reserves match against Birmingham City. Behrami and Diamanti
are fast becoming great friends and that is sure to be helping Diamanti settle in at West Ham.
The English Premier League wrapped up its weekend of matches with two on Sunday. The matches on
Sunday were Aston Villa traveling to play Birmingham City and Fulham hosting Everton. Here's a
recap of both matches along with video highlights on Sunday, September 13, 2009.
English Premier League Recap Saturday, September 13, 2009
Fulham defeated Everton on two second half goals while Aston Villa got a late goal to beat
Birmingham City.
After a week layoff it's back to the Premier League and Week 5 would offer fans of the most
beautiful game a chance to see some of the best squads face-off.
Burnley has been the strongest new club this year with surprising wins over top level talent,
but it appears that playing Liverpool on their own pitch was too much of a challenge.
Our second visit to Manchester has resulted in yet another undeserved defeat. The chances were
there, the woodwork hit once again by van Persie, certain goal cleared off the line and once again
another blatant penalty missed by the referee. The performances are there from the team, the
chances are being created, what we are missing is that little bit of luck that is required.
Miss Cleo has seen the light and the light told her to keep picking games so accurately. After
a mediocre 5-5 start to the year, your favorite fake Jamaican has been simply on fire the last
three weeks. At 23-4 over the three week span, Miss Cleo knows the answers. Who will win this
week?
Garry O'Connor scored the only goal of the game as Birmingham City edged out Hull City at the KC
Stadium.

After such an eventful weekend, it would be easy to lose sight of some of the Premier League's
lesser lights but away from the glitz and glamour of the Manchester and London derbies a strange
thing happened – all three promoted teams won. Stranger still, it wasn't the first time such an
event has happened this season.
