Today's top transfer rumours: The biggest transfer gossip in the English press is the alleged
interest of Arsenal in AC Milan youngster Yoann Gourcuff. The Daily Telegraph has reported that
Arsene Wenger is keen on having a second bite at the French cherry after missing out on the French
starlet in 2006 when he moved to [.
Soccerlens reader shahryarnoon has compiled a comprehensive list of transfer rumours for the month
of October 2007. Have a look, and add your rumours to the comments section if you think he's missed
something. Manchester United The most surprising name linked to Manchester United is that of
Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho, whose situation at Barcelona is being [.
Today's transfer rumours, as well as the top transfer rumours since the end of the transfer season:
Manchester United Manchester United and Newcastle are being linked with Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper
Jussi Jaaskelainen. The Finn is off contract in the summer and the News of the World says both
United and Newcastle are monitoring his situation. If he is to [.
My heart goes out to supporters of Liverpool FC. The club have been rocked by Champions League
failure, the validity of their Merseyside derby victory has been questioned, and they have to
travel to Liverpool at least once a fortnight. Steven Gerrard probably received the brunt of the
criticism after the controversial derby day win. [...]
Chris over at EPLTalk has paid someone to put together a list of the pitch sizes in the Premier
League - not to be confused with other metrics of measuring a club's superiority, such as title
count, time spent playing in the top level, the relationship of your manager with your players,
your transfer [...]
The Premier League weekend is likely to be overshadowed by Jose Mourinho's exit (dismissal) from
Chelsea, something that has also overshadowed the minor injury crisis at Liverpool as Daniel Agger
and Xabi Alonso are out for 6 weeks following metatarsal injuries. No chance to breath though, as
we've got some exciting close fixtures, 2 one-sided [...
As the temperatures cool down and the new year rapidly approaches, the transfer gossip is heating
up with rumours flying thick and fast. Manchester City are looking to improve their squad to aid
their push for a place in Europe, and their prime target is Mexican striker Nery Castillo,
currently out of favor at Ukrainian side [.
Uefa maintain that they'll leave the Grant situation for the Premier League to solve - a polite way
of telling the English to firm up and police themselves. While the Premier League scrambles to find
its pair of strap-ons (balls!), there are some juicy matchups taking place this weekend. As always,
you can make your [...]
I've never been particularly lucky in love. As a result of a severe lack of confidence, I can only
approach women after a skinful of lager when the beer goggles are on. Even Kermit would have turned
his nose up at some of the pigs I've tried my luck with. I raised the bar [...]
Well, at least for now, England is out of Euro 2008. And they deserve it. Bad footbal, poor team,
tactically naive.
McClaren should be next in the firing line now. I believe he should be joining Birmingham soon.
With Sven winner of August's manager of the month award and Micah Richards receiving the player of
the month gong, I thought it might be interesting to try to build a complete ‘team of the first
month and a half'. Many questions arise when considering such a team: should it just be a
collection of [...]
I remain a slave to tradition. Every year, I make a complete fool of myself at the office Christmas
party, and this year was no exception. After consuming a few too many ales, I made a misguided play
for the cleaner under the mistletoe. He was absolutely livid. My luck is unlikely to [...]
I've gotta say that it's so nice to have the Barclay English Premier League back again. Not only am
I back to watching hours of great soccer (literally) but it also gets me up out of bed before noon
on the weekends. My mom would be proud. The week 1 games certainly didn't disappoint. [...]
Remember the time when you just couldn't wait for football to come back? Depending on your
allegiances, that feeling has either faded fast or reached an all-time high - less than a week
after the 07/08 season has started, the future is a bit clearer and as usual, a season of
over-achievement and heartbreak awaits. All [...]
This past weekend was dubbed as the biggest of the season so far and my god it didn't disappoint.
These are the major talking points of the third week into the 2007/2008 Premiership season:
Everybody seems to be hounding Rob Styles (the referee that took charge of Liverpool – Chelsea
yesterday) but I for one, as [...]
The top 12 are separated by 3 points, the top 4 are on 10 points and theoretically speaking,
Manchester United are only, at most, 5 games off the pace while Chelsea are 3 points off. However,
Liverpool are top on goal difference (courtesy of Derby) followed by Arsenal and then Everton, and
for these teams, [...]
More than 20 police force military officers were injured in force followers a Premiership
football game derby.
Police said some of their military officers received minor hurts in hassles after the Pittsburgh Of
The South City and Aston Pancho Villa lucifer at St Andrew's on Sunday.
Trouble flared outside the land after the game and force spreading to close the Bullring shopping
promenade in the metropolis centre.
For the last six or seven seasons, Arsenal have been the most entertaining side in the English
Premier League but on more than one occasion their effectiveness has failed their flair. But things
have imbibed a different hue this season and as the English Premier League 2007-2008 crawls into
Week 16, it is Arsene Wenger's [.
I'm all for good-natured banter at a football match, but supporters are beginning to overstep the
line. Harry Redknapp commands respect from all the major players in the game, such as Frank Lampard
and Jamie Redknapp, yet the colourful manager endured a torrent of vitriolic abuse when Portsmouth
travelled to Aston Villa.
The wife and I are similar in many ways, but we disagree on the most prudent way to discipline
children. Betty is from the old-school, and believes a small slap is perfectly acceptable. I take
the opposite view, and prefer the use of a knuckle-duster. Such actions would not be necessary if
it wasn't [.
It's back to familiar terms for Manchester United this weekend as they claimed their first win of
the new season, albeit a nervy (and controversial) one against Tottenham. The rest of the fixtures
provided their usual entertainment and by now most viewers would have realised that no matter what
happens, most of these teams [...]
Grand Slam Sunday headlined Week 17 of the English Premier League season, with Manchester United
edging Liverpool at Anfield, and Arsenal poking past Chelsea to remain on top of the league table.
But, that wasn't the only action worth watching this past weekend, as there were eight fixtures on
Saturday that preceded Sunday's top-of-the-table [.
I promised myself that I wouldn't touch footy news today but this one is just too much. The thought
that Tottenham had found a club willing to take Mido on loan was hilarious enough, but now, news
that Tottenham have a 6m deal in place to sell Mido is just too much to ignore. Ok, ok, [...]

A look at the latest transfer rumours involving the Premiership. Newcastle offering 6m for
Manchester United's Alan Smith You've got to be kidding me. Newcastle United have Ameobi, Owen,
Viduka, Martins plus that kid who got assaulted by Buffon (Carroll). They wouldn't be spending 6m
on a 5th or 4th choice striker. Unless Big Sam wants [...]
This is Part 3 of this 4 series Premieship predictions. Here you have Part 1 & Part 2. 16th
Position – Sunderland Roy Keane did a wonderful job for Sunderland last season and I think his
grit and determination will be passed on to his players this season enabling them to beat the drop.
I think Roy [...]

Must be a tough day for managers today. Almost every club is looking to sign or sell players and to
add to the drama, they have to prepare their teams for the weekend games as well. This is why
managers have assistants to deal with most of the team's training and preparation and in [...]
Back from international week and the Premier League is raring to go with Liverpool, Everton,
Chelsea and Arsenal all on 10 points and all teams looking to increase their lead at the top of the
table. As usual, we've got the weekend predictions and previews - you can also make your own
predictions by copying [...]
Some of these are bargains, but for the most part these are just guys who I think will have good
matches this weekend. Per usual, this only applies to the Yahoo!UK Fantasy League and the time
stamp at the bottom of this post is when I last received information for these players, so if they
aren't playing, it's your fault. Cheers.

Alhassan "Al" Bangura - the Watford midfielder and Sierra Leone native - was granted the
opportunity to qualify for a work permit, which effectively has kept him from being sent back to
Sierra Leone for the time being. If it was a 'regular' work permit hearing, Bangura would still be
packing his bags, but apparently the [.
Newly-promoted Birmingham have added Holland Under-21 winger Daniel de Ridder to their squad for
the new Barclays Premier League season.
The 23-year-old, who was part of his country's successful European Under-21 Championship
campaign, was out of contract with Spanish side Celta Vigo.
Don't know much about de Ridder.
Asian investors are beginning to make a major impact on English Premier League clubs with former
Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's successful £81.6 million bid for Manchester City and
with Hong Kong entrepreneur Carson Yeung's HK-listed Grandtop International Holdings Ltd scheduled
to emerge with the largest single shareholding, 29.9%, in Birmingham City when it pays £14.
UK legal firm Hammonds has acted on its second English Premier League football deal iwithin two
weeks, advising Hong Kong businesman Carson Yeung Ka-Shing on his purchase of a third of Birmingham
City plc, the owner of Birmingham City FC, through Hong Kong-listed GrandTop International
Holdings. GrandTop agreed to pay £14.94 million for the stake, making it the largest single
shareholder in the
Birmingham have been a part of two high-scoring games (9 goals from 2 Birmingham City games) and if
that is any indication, this game should have goals as well. Forssell has made a bright start for
Birmingham City and against a suspect West Ham defence he'd be odds on to score again, and so [...]
Hong Kong businesman Carson Yeung insists his friends Steve McManaman and Christian Karembeu are
unlikely to have any direct influence on football policy at English Premier League club Birmingham
City once his publicly-listed company Grandtop completes its buyout. According to Colin Tattum in
the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce is "intrigued by the pair's involvement"
but
Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung has assured David Sullivan, his fellow major shareholder of
English Premier League club Birmingham City that he is confident of soon buying full control of the
club. Sullivan had publicly expressed concern that the club's stability would suffer if a deal
wasn't concluded by the end of September. "I don't know enough about the Chinese psychology.
The Carling Cup 3rd Round draw was announced today, and it threw up some interesting matchups:

Hull v Chelsea Blackpool v Southend West Ham v Plymouth Arsenal v Newcastle Luton v Charlton
Manchester City v Norwich Sheffield United v Morecambe Sheffield Wednesday v Everton Fulham v
Bolton Burnley v Portsmouth Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest or [.
Well, this news would matter more to me if these teams were any good.
Derby will be going down regardless; they are simply the worst Premiership team I've seen in years
and Paul Jewell won't be able to save them this season.
I picked Birmingham to join Derby in the Championship next year as well, and that was with Steve
Bruce at the helm, who I believe is a good manager and possibly could've kept the team up.
Hong Kong multimillionaire, Carson Yeung Ka-Shing, should become Birmingham City Blues' single
largest shareholder today when he acquires 29.9 percent of the English Premier League club for £15
million - but he believes it has been his "destiny" to own the club since his first trip to St
Andrews eight months ago."I came here last year to see Birmingham play Luton, and it was destiny,"
Yeung told
