After 16 years at Arsenal, and what is now 7 years without a trophy, is Arsène Wenger still
getting more right than he gets wrong?
Stubborn arguments rage amongst the Arsenal faithful, neither side willing to compromise their
staunch 'belief', so they end up insulting each other. To make a thorough examination, we can only
measure the good against the bad, which I shall attempt to do here, and allow people to reach their
own conclusions.
The Indonesian based Bakrie group have taken ownership, 100%, of Brisbane Roar.
With Clive Palmer, Tony Sage, Nathan Tinkler and all the Billionaires in and around Sydney FC
ownership it can't be too hard for the hard-nosed progressive Aussie businessmen to see how they
might get an opportunity to meet and greet and get introduced to some very rich men.

Chelsea Manchester City Premier League 12th December 2011
Billed by a number of footballing 'wits' as El Cashico and the Oil Firm Derby, this clash of the
billionaires' playthings was always going to be a dramatic affair.
Well, we don't have the Teacher's Pension Plan to kickaround anymore. The big bad mediagiants, Bell
and Rogers have married and bought MLSE. Now what does this meanfor our little TFC? I am hoping for
either benign neglect or selling off the team, but not holding my breath for either. Bizarre
billionaires are rare in Canada.
As Newcastle United's season continued to unfurl, and the winning streak continued to lengthen,
accusations leveled at NUFC was that they hadn't played 'anyone' yet with 'anyone' presumed to be
the top four (this despite Newcastle playing both Arsenal and Spurs and coming away
undefeated).

Commemorative Newcastle bitter tastes sweet to rivals
Sunderland fans are loving this name of a new beer, intended to commemorate Mike Ashley's
ridiculous rebranding of Newcastle's ground. They say 'St James' Park Bitter' sums up their local
rivals perfectly – and also point out that a Kevin Keegan brew would soon lose its head, an Alan
Shearer pint would slip down easily and a pint of Ashley ale would sell out within minutes.
So another Arsenal AGM passes with more waffle than you would find in Belgium.
One thing we did learn was the need to oust Peter Hill-Wood from his role as chairman because,
from what I saw, he was a joke.
I mean the old boy could barely read out the resolutions of the meeting from his notes and he
missed out the agenda of re-electing Stan Kroenke, the majority shareholder, on to the board.
Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is top of Blackburn's shortlist should they sack the
under-fire Steve Kean.
Solskjaer – now 38 - is the current manager of Norwegian side Molde and is on the brink of
winning the league title in Norway, which has drawn the attention of the Blackburn owners,
according to an article in The Mirror.
A bit of the old bulldog spirit saw Fulham earn a rousing home point against Man City's powder
blue oil billionaires. For a long time it was one of those bottom of the league afternoons, the
players trying almost too hard to do things the right way, the fans nervous and wary.
That City scored first with a soft goal, perhaps a smidge offside, only confirmed what we all
knew.

When Tottenham stepped off the pitch at Tynecastle, having subjected a Hearts team who finished
in 3rd place in the SPL last season and briefly looked to challenge the Old Firm duopoly the
laments for the state of Scottish football were loud and numerous.
- Kick-off time
We've finally arrived at the start of the new 2011/12 season. As usual, Arsenal will be involve
in 4 competitions with the Premier League starting today. It has been a rather unsettling post
season leading up to the pre season. The way last season ended, it left a lot of bitter taste in
the mouth of all Arsenal supporters.

Greetings from the billowing rubble that is now my home city. The new season is but an
inswinging corner kick away. The bowels are clenching, the skin on my knuckles tightening and the
teeth grinding as the anticipation of that first Newcastle set piece begins to dawn. For the last
three months, I have been something approaching a pleasant, available and accessible individual for
my friends and family.
For Part Deux in this occasional series based on viewing our season through the headlines of the
daily posts here on Arsenal Arsenal, we have moved on to October
and November.
You'll see that the cautiously optimistic tone of the August and September headlines is carried
on into October.
Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock has officially declared Liverpool's Joe Cole unaffordable
for the club after reports linked the England international with a move to Loftus Road.
The former West Ham man has endured a fairly miserable season at Anfield after moving to Liverpool
last summer on a free transfer from Chelsea.

If you've been blissfully ignorant of Bundesliga comings and goings over the Winter break, you
may have missed the news that Ralf Rangnick resigned as coach. This came as a bit of a shock as
Rangnick is generally viewed as a fine coach who was doing a good job in developing Hoffenheim from
a village team to a quality Bundesliga outfit.
