It's getting old folks, the losing is getting old. First the Portland game on Saturday where the
Blues lost 3-1 and then it seemed we would bring back a point from Vancouver but with only 10
minutes left Miami conceded a goal followed by another a few minutes later that sealed our fate and
might keep us away from the playoffs for yet another season.
Liverpool FC has officially unveiled their new away football kit for the 2009-10 season.
Designed and manufactured by Adidas with Carlsberg as sponsors, the new shirt is currently
available for pre-order. Pictured above, the new Liverpool away shirt is black with red and gold
trim.
The new away Liverpool football kit has been launched under a new advertising campaign from
Adidas entitled "Every Team Needs The 12th Man.
With the creation of NASL things need to change for Miami FC. Fans don't want to hear any more
excuses. If approved by the USSF then USL will be in the past and it's time for Traffic to take
ownership of this baby!
I don't claim to be a Soccer expert, nor can I say I know how to run a soccer company such as
Traffic or a Soccer Club like Miami FC.
Now clearly Man City have become something of a hated entity in recent months. David Moyes and
his Everton club are understandably angry at the manner in which they conducted the Joleon Lescott
saga and Man United supporters, not needing new ammunition on this front, were irritated by the
Carlos Tevez billboards.
While looking for stories about last night's Champions League action, I came across a story
about Jens Lehmann. Apparently after last night's Champions League victory which put them into
knockout stages, former Gunner keeper "Mad" Jens Lehmann was apparently critical of Stuttgart's
board for dismissing manager Markus Babbel, and now he's in trouble with the board.
It's the time on the calendar when we take a look back at the year that was. We will have a few
of these retrospectives over the next week, but the big story in American Soccer for 2009 was the
introduction of the Seattle Sounders to MLS. The crowds kept coming (they grew), the local media
coverage remained oustanding, and the Sounders continued to perform on the field.
So says South African journalist Chris Moerdyk in a scathing editorial News24.com, a South African
news web site.
Take a look ... also, make sure to read some of the harsh comments Mr. Moerdyk receives for his
opinion, of which I agree ...
Confederations Cup important? Sure, I suppose so.
Manchester City apparently have no desire to politely play down the fact that they lured Carlos
Tevez away from their shadow-casting neighbors, as they have launched a local marketing campaign
using the striker on billboards that are clearly having a laugh at United's expense.
The billboard above, welcome Tevez to the city he was already in and using an image of him
celebrated a goal he scored for United against Wigan last season, is located in Manchester city
centre and lists the club's official website in the bottom right corner.
Last year, the number of men practising safe and getting tested increased dramatically in Sierra
Leone, a country that had seen a 75% increase in all new HIV infections since 2002. The reason? A
nationwide campaign across TV, radio and billboards. It was doctors telling men to put a condom on,
it wasn't politicians fighting the stigma of the virus, but three footballers.
While it seems like the hottest millionaires on the Premiership block at the moment reside on
the baby blue side of Manchester, it is important not to forget about the original mega-money man
Roman Abramovich.
Unlike the Sheikh, he's not all about the money, the mercenary footballers, and the taunting
billboards.
Something to read while you watch MLS fans shower David Beckham with fake money... (Dave has the
full story at Red Bulls Offside) "Does Rafa Benitez look like a b!#^$?" (Liverpool Offside) Russel
Brand & Noel Gallagher on the radio (talkSPORT) Man City exec chairman wants to ignore history
(SoccerLens) But at least Man City billboards have a sense of [.
When we last left the "Lescott likes City" saga, Joleon was begging Everton manager David
Moyes to let him speak with Manchester City. Well, after a couple of rejected bids, Lescott
demanded a transfer to City in a meeting with Moyes at Everton's training ground. The following is
a transcript of that conversation.
When I got home from work tonight I had a package from the Colorado Rapids. Inside was my 2009
season ticket holder's gift, a notebook cover with the Rapids logo on it. included was a note and a
insert that explained that the notebook cover was made from the Rapids old banners and billboards
as part of their Go Green and Play Clean initiatives.
I will be the first young lady to say that I "stan" for David Beckham. It was shocking to learn
over the weekend that he is in need of new briefs. His contract with Armani as the go to footballer
eye candy has been transferred to none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. Although it's a sad ending to
a great revenue stream for Becks, I feel like it is a great passing of the torch.
Okay, okay, they got away lightly on Sunday with Arsenal once again showing less bottle
than an English penalty taker, but something at Upton Park concerned me.
Now I may be wrong (And correct me if I am) but I'm pretty sure, as Arsenal were 2-0 up, that
odds on the match were scrolling along the billboards on the pitch.
Around this time last year Canberra girl Grace Gill was an ACTAS players who still hoped of getting
to the Matildas again (she had been thereabouts before, made the Young Matildas squad for a World
Cup but didn't play and only had one Matildas cap), but no real way of getting there.
Fast-forward to this week and in the last 12-months, Gill would have claimed her second Matildas if
not for ill-timed ankle injuries and she has been in every senior Matildas camp since the W-League
finished.
(That headline may crash Google. Apologies.) The #7 Red Devil to Madrid train has treated the
Spanish quite well so far. Whilst Cristiano Ronaldo appears irreplaceable and integral on the
pitch, GoldenMcNuggets was irreplaceable off of it. In the club shops, on clothing store racks,
plastered on billboards Beckhamania did more for Spanish finances since [.
Look, even David Albelda can't help himself from smiling for the cameras! And
you can't really blame him, after Los Che battled back from a goal down to win this away
match against Athletic Bilbao last night. Goals by Villa and
Mathieu cancelled out 16-year-old Iker Munain's strike (the young
striker is a cross between the Pique and Torres breed, in case you were curious and even if you
were, shame on you for checking out jailbaits).
