The New York Red Bulls this year spent "probably more than any team in Major League Soccer on
advertising," the team's new managing director Eric Stover told local media in a recent
roundtable discussion. "We invested a significant amount of money in advertising, it just
wasn't TV based," said Stover in response to a question about why the team has not purchased
television ads.
If you drive around Tucson it's possible to find billboards advertising Arizona Rush soccer
matches. I knew that they were a women's team in the semi-pro WPSL, but not much more than that.
Two weeks ago I finally got around to seeing a match and I traveled to the University of Arizona's
Murphey Field to watch the Rush play the Utah Spiders.
Hey guys, we're about to post four billboards around the Kansas City metro promoting our upcoming
games at CommunityAmerica Ballpark by the Legends. The billboards go up soon and run through the
first four games. One will be on I-35 facing south, two on I-70 facing west and one on I-70 facing
