The University of Colorado soccer team shut out the University of Wyoming 2-0 in the regular
season home opener Sunday afternoon at Prentup Field.
Colorado (1-0) took control of the game early. Senior Kym Lowry scored the first goal for the
Buffaloes with an assist from Caroline Danneberg who outran the defense down the left sideline.
The University of Colorado women's soccer team beat the Air Force Academy 2-1 in a home
exhibition match Sunday at Prentup Field, kicking off the 2010-11 athletics season for the
Buffaloes.
Head coach Bill Hempen not only experimented during Sunday's matchup by starting four freshmen,
but he was constantly rotating everyone throughout the game.
Sophomore forward Kalie Vaughn scored two goals and added an assist to help lead the University
of Denver women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Drake at CIBER Field on Monday afternoon, as
well as the 2010 Denver Invitational title.
"We beat our rivals in CU on Saturday, so we weren't sure how the team would react today,
considering how young we are," head coach Jeff Hooker said.
While their gridiron brethren got splattered by a future Pac-10 Conference mate, the CU women's
soccer team upset No. 10-ranked UCLA 1-0 on Sunday.

cool, wet Sunday in Boulder.
The Buffaloes (6-7-1) ended a 425-minute scoring drought, picking up a 3-1 win to make their
record 2-3-1 in the Big 12 Conference. Iowa State (6-7-2) suffered its second league loss of the
weekend after losing to Nebraska on Friday, dropping to 1-4 in conference play.
The Buffs rallied on Thursday but came up short in yet another grueling Big 12 showdown, this
time falling to OSU 3-2.
The Buffaloes (6-8-1) fall to 2-4-1 in conference play as the Cowgirls (13-1-1) stayed
undefeated in the Big 12 with a 6-0 mark.
"(We) played pretty good, but again you can't play pretty good for a little bit of time," head
coach Bill Hampen said.
The Pioneer women's soccer team remains on a roll in the Sun Belt Conference after a tight
match.
Meanwhile, CU fell in overtime and Northern Colorado fell apart late. In men's soccer, DU and
Air Force each lost close matches.
DU Needs OT: Sophomore defender Katy Van Lieshout scored a game-winner in
overtime to help DU keep its Sun Belt Conference record unblemished, as the Pioneers defeated the
Florida International Golden Panthers 1-0 at CIBER Field on Sunday afternoon.
Colorado closed its final regular season in the Big 12 Conference with a 2-1 win over Nebraska.
Now the Buffs get to gear up for a Texas A&M team they stunned earlier in the year.
Colorado faces the Aggies at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in San Antonio, Texas. The winner faces the
Oklahoma-Texas winner on Friday with a chance to advance to the conference tournament finals.
The CU women's soccer season ended in dramatic fashion as Texas A&M University advanced to the
semifinals of the 2010 Big 12 Conference tournament by edging the Buffaloes 5-4 in a shootout after
110 minutes of scoreless action.
Eighth-seeded Colorado ends its season at 8-9-3 overall while the top-seeded Aggies (15-3-2)
advance to Friday's semifinals to face fourth seed Oklahoma.
