a team record with their 13th shutout suffered.
D.C. United won their first Charleston Challenge Cup tonight as they defeated the host Charleston
Battery 2-0. Jaime Moreno scored both goals and totaled 5 goals in the three game tournament.

After all the discussion (great comments, folks--thanks!) yesterday over whether we could make
Nowak deal for Szetela + whatever, the FO turns around and makes a deal that I'm still trying to
figure out who comes out ahead on: Fred + our first round...
Colorado Rapids delivered on a historic chance Saturday night by beating D.C. United 1-0 at RFK
Stadium.
Mehdi Ballouchy launched a sizzling left-footed shot into the near post in the 67th minute.
Ballouchy saw goalkeeper Will Hamid cheating to the middle and froze him with the shot. It was a
scintillating moment, and it was all Colorado needed to erase 11 years of losses in the nation's
capital.
Huge. Three. Points. Off the mark, but—and there's always a but—there are still big, big
problems to deal with here. And make no mistake, this isn't exactly a confident KC team that's on
top of their game at the moment. And they still almost...

19-year-old keeper nominated for two selections
After becoming the youngest goalkeeper in League history to record an MLS victory, it only seems
natural that United's Bill Hamid would cap this experience with a Save of the Week nomination. In
fact, the 19-year-old has been nominated for two Saves of the Week selections for week seven of the
2010 MLS campaign after excelling in United's 2-1 win over Kansas City on May 5, and the 1-0 loss
at FC Dallas on May 8.
I loved the combination of Kevin Hartman / George John / The Left Post as they all contributed
to deny DC United a goal.
Who would you give your vote to?

DC United continues to see their season spiral out of control, but at least new GK Bill Hamid is
showing signs of life.

D.C. United has lost five straight and hasn't won a game in more than two months. Philadelphia
Union is winless in their last five. The Union have the league's worst road record. D.C. are the
league's worst team, period.
D.C. are a long, long way down. What will it take to start climbing back out?
If there was any real hope of D.C. United salvaging some pride from the debacle that was the
2009 season it was lost last season. The word "lost" may be a tad of euphemism here. Two straight
heartbreaking defeats after strong performances just adds more grief to the season than we probably
thought was possible.
A few season's ago the most frequent criticism of D.C. United's squad was that the club was
struggling to replace aging players. Not so much anymore.
D.C. was built on a foundation of skilled veterans, but the years were starting to takes its
toll. In the past two seasons United fans have seen a complete revamp in their squad in terms of
the importance of youth in the squad.

Keeping with the Expansion theme of the day it's time to begin looking at each current MLS
roster for the upcoming MLS Expansion Draft next month. Both Portland and Vancouver will be
selecting 10 players each from the current rosters.
Black-and-Red set to begin Academy seasons against PDA and New York Red Bulls
2010 has been a strong year for Academy development in MLS, and on Sunday two of the League's
top programs square off against each other to begin their respective seasons.
Goalkeeper reflects on dream debut
Bill Hamid started his MLS career with a bang last night, becoming the youngest player in the
history of the League to win a regular season match. At 19 years and 161 days of age, Hamid tops
former New York goalkeeper Tim Howard (now with Everton) by four days in this category.

Keeper is savvy in net for United, but also in front of the camera
Bill Hamid may have only just begun his MLS career, but the 19-year-old United Academy product
seems like a veteran with the media. Below is Hamid's recent appearance on Comcast SportsNet's
Washington Post Live with Ivan Carter, along with an interview with CSN's Russ Thaler and Sebastian
Salazar.

Another milestone for the young keeper and notes from Wednesday's training session
For his efforts in last weekend's narrow 1-0 loss to Colorado, United netminder Bill Hamid has
earned another MLS Save of the Week Nomination. Please be sure to vote for Bill as he competes for
this prize for the second consecutive week.

Ben Olsen smoldered on the bench as the final seconds counted down. A pretty harmless looking
free-kick put the Revolution up 1-0 in the second half. Boskovic lost his man, and Pat Phelan,
helmet and all, rose up to put the ball in the back of the net. I was certain that any second Olsen
would rip off the tracksuit, run out onto the field, and take a pop at goal.
Najar, Hamid, Graye, and James headline 64-person FIFA 2010 tourney
For the many die hard fans of the beautiful game, EA Sports' FIFA series is a staple of daily
life. The 2010 version of the famous video game is perhaps the best installment of the franchise,
and all of us take pride in our ability to play the game.

D.C. United is shut out for the 15th time this season, tying the record set by the expansion
Toronto FC in 2007. United lose 1-0 to Columbus on a horrific gaffe from goalkeeper Bill Hamid.

This may be the cherry on top of DC United's forgettable season.
The Portland Timbers made a move to upgrade in goal yesterday by swapping keepers with D.C.
United, sending Steve Cronin to the nation's capital in exchange for Troy Perkins. It was the
two club's second trade of the offseason; during the expansion draft D.C. sent Portland Rodney
Wallace for first overall pick Dax McCarty from Dallas.
