Real Madrid vs. Osasuna
Barcelona vs. Hercules
Athletic Bilbao vs. Atletico Madrid
Sevilla vs. Deportivo La Coruna
STARTERSJonathan Wilson was on Twitter today writing that Russia will change their schedule to meet the
current FIFA regulated schedule beginning in the 2011-12 season. Sounds like they will play a split
season with a long winter break. This will put a lot more pressure on MLS.
According to FC Barcelona's official site, "after an MRI taken this morning at the Hospital de
Barcelona, doctors have concluded that Leo Messi has a sprain in the internal and external
ligaments of his right ankle, but confirmed that there is no damage to the bones."
While a specific recovery date cannot yet be determined, "Leo Messi will definitely miss the
matches against Sporting and Bilbao this week after doctors confirmed their earlier diagnosis
following the nasty foul he received from Ujfalusi on Sunday.
A very interesting comparision here of ankle injuries suffered by Maradona and Messi.
Maradona was hacked down from behind by Andoni (the butcher of Bilbao)Goikoetxea in 1983.He
subsequently took to drugs during the time he was out of the game with a shattered ankle.Messi's
injury thankfully is not so severe.
Lionel Messi is set to miss the rest of September's football action and the Barcelona treble
winning forward also could potentially miss much of October as well depending on how quickly the
ligaments in his right ankle are able to heal.
Messi was injured last weekend against Atletico Madrid during a 2-1 victory.

Hercules-Sevilla
You may think that this is a bizarre LLTO Match of the Week selection, but I find it to be quite
relevant at the moment considering Hercules were the giant slayers a few weeks back at Nou Camp.
This weekend the new boys will be tested again by a top four club last year and a top four hopeful
this season in Luis Fabiano's Sevilla.
