Spanish online publication Sport Youreported Monday night about the possibility of the Spanish
Footballers Association (AFE) going on strike in the coming days due to players not being paid
their salaries.
According to Madrid daily Marca, there are rumblings going on in various dressing rooms across
Spanish football about the possibility of a work stoppage in order to have people gain awareness of
the issue.

Andoni Giokotxea - maybe the most violent player ever
In the old days, when the tackle from behind was legal, and defenders were given respect not for
their play but out of fear, the golden boys of soccer were afraid to turn their backs on goal.
Lurking behind them like blood thirsty sharks were tough nuts like Spain's Andoni Goikoetxea, the
Butcher of Bilbao, his nom de guerre, or the inappropriately named Claudio Gentile, an
Italian on a mission to stop anything that moved.

16.01.2010 - Liga BBVA
Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Real Madrid

Roots of discontent are growing in Madrid...
As Barca rolled over Sevilla 4-0 (something I wasn't expecting I mean, I thought Barca could
beat Sevilla, but not 4-0) Real Madrid lost 1-0 to Bilbao for no apparent reason. For the first
time we're seeing the word "frustrated" associated with Real Madrid and now we're all left to
wonder if Real Madrid is pushing the panic button too early.
Welcome to the first top 25 of the new decade. Hard to believe but this is now our fourth year of
doing this. You just can't rest if you want to be the best. How would the latest ranking be
affected by events of the past month? Would Barcelona lose their top spot after dropping out of
Copa del Rey? Would resurgent Italian clubs (Milan and Roma) move up and if so, how much?
Barcelona are now five points clear as they were able to win by a convincing 4-0 result against
Sevilla and tok advantage of Real Madrid's loss in Bilbao. Lio Messi became the 16th player in
Barca history to score over 100 goals with the Blaugrana and became the lone Pichichi for at 24
hours.
