A cloudy morning in Phoenix is a godsend, don't ever let anyone tell you differently. Some
things I have noticed or thought about in the last few hours include:
- TNT's Chip Caray is just getting crushed for his performance in last night's
one game playoff between the Tigers and Twins.
Once again, I live in state where no switching of the clocks is required, so - voila! -
we woke up this morning in Mountain Time. This means that the Big Ten Network match from Friday
night - which I called with Kyndra de St. Aubin - airs today at 10am Mountain,
Noon Eastern.
The University of Minnesota women's soccer team have headed to Illinois after their 1-0 Big Ten
conference opener win on Thursday evening. They will play the University of Illinois in the
Illini's conference opener today, Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1:00 p.m.. The game will be covered
LIVE on the Big Ten Network which is channel 57 on Comcast in the Twin Cities.
I just thought the sun coming through the beams at Sky Harbor this morning looked cool. Don't
think this photo does it justice, but, whatever.
So, I just flew in from Indianapolis, and boy are my arms tired. Got to see some old friends and
called Michigan State's 1-0, double-overtime victory over Indiana on the Big Ten Network Sunday
afternoon.
What a great trip I had to Chicago this weekend. I got to see lots of old friends (like
Steve Pastorino, Nico and Coz), see some team
handball, work a terrific soccer game with people I like and eat food I can't get here in the
desert. Oh, and I met Willie the Northwestern Wildcat (above).
Well, that was fun. Ohio State won the Big Ten men's soccer tournament title with a last-minute,
1-0 win over Penn State in Sunday's final. The Buckeyes get an automatic berth in the NCAA
Tournament, while Penn State, Indiana, Northwestern and potentially Michigan State can also stake
claims to spots in the field of 48 (which will be announced at 5:30pm today on ESPNEWS).
My man Richard Broad and I are reunited Sunday afternoon for the start of
another season broadcasting college soccer on the Big Ten Network. We'll be calling the men's game
between the last two conference champs, Ohio State (4-3-0) and Michigan State (4-1-1), which starts
at 2:30pm ET but won't air until 4pm ET (so you can bag all those plans you had to watch the
NFL).
