In a surprising development, the Washington Nationals have inked Jayson Werth to a seven-year, $126 million deal. It's surprising that the Nationals opened up their wallet and it's also surprising that Werth decided to sign with a team that isn't a contender. The Philadelphia Phillies were interested in re-signing him and a number of other teams, including the Boston Red Sox, wanted to sign.
