Tomorrow Chelsea make the trip to Eastlands to take on Manchester City in the biggest game both
sides have had to face so far this season. We have had the build up and people have had their
say, now it's time to focus on the game itself. With City's defensive problems and Chelsea
welcoming back the big guns in our strongest eleven (minus Frank Lampard) the sign's before
the game look good for Chelsea.
Vélez Sársfield released their Centenary jersey like only
they can. Every year the Buenos Aires based club does a jersey release with women
in thongs, it is sort of their tradition. So, considering this is their Centenary release they
literally brought out the big guns.
When infielder Masahiko Morino popped up a sacrifice fly to edge Chunichi Dragons past
Yokohama Baystars and into first place in Nippon Professional Baseball's Central League overnight,
he ensured Nagoya's two major sporting teams currently top their respective leagues.
The Dragons last won the Japan Series in 2007, in a year in which their footballing counterparts
struggled to make an impact - ultimately limping into a miserable eleventh-placed finish in the
J.
Finally, a reason to look forward to Tuesday's and Wednesday's again. With The Champions League
kicking off again tonight, it is hard for any football fan to get excited by what this year's
European spectacle awaits us. The usual suspects are back in the form of Chelsea, Manchester
United, Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan all challenging to be lifting the
most coveted trophy in Europe.
Ahead of Sunday's Philadelphia screening of the documentary, Pelada, we talked with Gwendolyn
Oxenham who, along with co-star Luke Boughen, toured the world with one simple goal: get into
pickup soccer games and see what happens. The result, filmed by Rebekah Fergusson and Ryan White,
renders distance irresolute, while laying bear our common humanity.

Just a couple of quick bits and bobs I haven't mentioned on here recently regarding your humble
editor, moi. About a month ago the lovely people over at FourFourTwo, one of the most
popular and prestigious football magazines in the world, invited me to join up with them to write a
regular blog on African football for the online portion of their wonderful magazine.
Every year in England the 72 Football League clubs and 20 Premier League clubs are entered in to
the League Cup. It is a competition which in recent years has seen EPL sides give a run out to
their promising youngsters with this year beign no exception to that rule.
Arsene Wenger was one of the pioneers of this trend as he blooded a young Arsenal side that made
it all the way to the semi-finals of the competiton a few seasons ago.
I sat down in front of the TV late on Friday night hoping for the best, but - pessimist that I am -
expecting the worst. The Red Bulls hadn't beaten a top three team this season, home or away. While
a result in LA probably wouldn't have made a difference one way or the other to the Red Bulls
playoff prospects, the idea of starting off the weekend by dropping the most overhyped game of the
MLS season, and once again failing against one of the league's big guns, had me filled with dread.
