After every World Cup, clubs from around the world are always trying to capture the latest
talent who have shined on the world's stage. And a player that a lot of clubs, including Manchester
City, are keeping a close eye on is Landon Donovan who showed a lot of skill and composure under
pressure to lead his US team to a successful World Cup campaign.
The January transfer window is traditionally a slow-moving affair, carried along on a sea of
exciting rumours that never come to anything, unless you have the money to pay the slightly higher
fees you expect half way through a season when contracts seem more secure. For that reason, one of
the more surprising rumours surrounding Man City has actually come to fruitition.
Keith Harris, the Man Utd mogul has his sights set on a liverpool take-over following Kenny Huang's
withdrawal from the bidding process.
The Man Utd supporter is still in contension with his bid for liverpool, despite being a Utd

The French starlet has been at the centre of a bidding war between the Reds and West Ham - with the
Londoners currently believed to be in pole position for his signature - but the Daily Mirror

last ditch attempt to sign the striker.

in the Accra Mail in Ghana, but also said that both clubs [.

I was reading this article tonight written by Matt Barlow in the Daily Mail and it has got me
thinking to say the least. As soon as we all heard the news about Rooney, everyone has been
speculating for two days now about his future. I have posted a couple of times on here already
asking you the Chelsea fans opinions and you have stated them.
The British media was reporting on Sunday (here, and here for example) that fans will be paying
less to watch their games at home next season.
The news comes after Ofcom, the regulatory body of the British government, announced measures
forcing the TV giant Sky to lower prices perceived as threatening competition.
Liverpool are reportedly leading the way in a race to sign Nigerian defender Taye Taiwo.
The Marseille left back has been on the Premier League radar for some time after admitting his
desire to play in the Premier League at the end of last season, and now Liverpool appear ready to
make their move as other European clubs target the player.

Speculation is rife that Sir Alex Ferguson may well be considering a last gasp move for
seemingly Manchester City bound Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure.
It is being reported today that both Arsenal and Tottenham have joined in a bidding war for the

Rumour No. 1: Manchester City have seen their £17 million bid for Lazio
left-back Aleksandar Kolarov accepted, and will now begin to discuss personal
terms with the 24-year-old Serbian international.
Some early morning rumors from Europe.
Blackpool have an offer of £1m for DJ Campbell rejected by Leicester City, leaving manager Ian
Holloway to turn his attention to Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson.
Real Madrid target Mesut Ozil is set to remain at Werder Bremen until his current contract runs
out at the end of next season, when he can leave the club for free.
Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich are looking at the prospect of buying Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe
Reina as their answer to the retired Oliver Kahn. The Spanish keeper has impressed during numerous
weeks at Anfield despite Liverpool sitting uncomfortably in 16th place in the Premiership.
The player is highly rated and reports from Germany and Holland suggest the South German team may
look to Reina as the ideal summer signing with Munich already leaking goals at the back this
season.
Real Madrid's manager, José Mourinho, confirmed his interest in signing the Manchester United
striker Wayne Rooney.
The United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, admitted on Tuesday that Rooney wants to leave the club,
and although Mourinho remains sceptical about that, he does feel there could be a place for him at
Madrid.
Wouldn't you want the chance to be jumped at if he became available? Well, if rumours are true
that Liverpool are burdened with £174 million pounds worth of debt and the owners are at each
others throats, over the spiralling costs of the play thing they bought but are now getting bored
with, then the idea of them selling their most prized asset may not be completely out of the
question.
Here are some explanations of a few of the terms currently used in transfer rumours in the press.

Despite the interest surrounding Adam Johnson's future on Teesside at least, if we he does
leave, we should be able to bargain for a very good price for the 22-year-old winger.
He scored two stunning goals last night which will only increase the temptation from Chelsea and
Manchester City to sign him as they looked on at Doncaster Rovers last night.
Manchester City are desperate to add a left-sided winger to their ever increasing squad after
they were tormented by Ryan Giggs last night in their League Cup Semi-Final defeat to Manchester
United.
Roberto Mancini will try and lure Johnson to the City of Manchester Stadium to ease the
disappointment of last night's cup exit, but the big question is: Will AJ move to Manchester City
to sit on the bench?
According to reports Sir Alex Ferguson will try and lure Adam Johnson to Old Trafford today
which would serve up another blow for their rivals Manchester City who are also reportedly
interested in our 22-year-old winger.
This latest development could be beneficial to the final fee for Johnson as it is reported that
three top teams in the Premier League could now start a bidding war.
Stephen Warnock is being touted as the answer to the England left back problem. The Villa defender
almost certainly doesn't shag his team mates' partners or share exotic photos on his mobile.
However, since he breaks the same leg every three months, the chances of him lasting a full season
are slim. Not so, says Stilian Petrov, who doesn't think any of this matters.
Jonjo Shelvey could be on his way to Liverpool in the summer after interest in the Charlton
youngster from Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs sparked a bidding war.
The Anfield side looks to be leading the chase for Shelvey - who, at 18, is one of England's
top-rated young players.
Believed to be valued at around £3 million already, Shelvey has made more than 40 appearances for
the Addicks since his debut just two months after his 16th birthday.

Harry Redknapp has revealed that Tottenham were bullied, effectively, by Manchester City when
the two clubs were involved in a bidding war for Wales striker Craig Bellamy.

Ancelotti looking to the future with Chelsea's youth academy
Chelsea may have won the title in a record breaking fashion but one thing that doesn't go away from
the media spotlight is the squad's age. With a lot of key players over 30, it is widely
acknowledged that Chelsea will definitely dip into the transfer market and make some marquee
signings along with some younger players.
According to reports in this morning's press, Manchester City are to make their first foray into
this summer's transfer market by lodging an opening bid of £24 million for Aston Villa midfielder
and recently crowned PFA Young Player of the Year James Milner.
City are mindful that an impressive World Cup could inflate Milner's price further and will move
quickly possibly within the next 48 hours according to The Daily Mail to, at the very
least, declare their interest in procuring the 24-year-old.
According to both Superdeporte and las Provincias today Llorente has begun negociations with
Barcelona for the transfer of Villa.
This is the first time Valencia has officially declared that the Villa transfer is in the works
and that they want it done quickly so as to not interfere with the player during the World Cup this
summer.
Aston Villa have confirmed that they have received and rejected a bid from Manchester
City for their versatile midfielder James Milner.
There was strong speculation earlier in the week that City would be first out of the traps in
the race to sign Milner, triggering a bidding war between themselves and bitter rivals Manchester
United in the process.
James Milner is the latest player to be linked with Chelsea. It has been reported in The Sun that
Chelsea are going to battle with Manchester City to sign the versatile midfielder. Manchester City
recently had their £20 million bid rejected by Aston Villa. It seems that City will be raising
their bid to £30 million.

So old Jose Mourinho was finally confirmed as the new manager at Real Madrid yesterday. The
