Clint Dempsey is a really good footballer. He contributes goals from midfield, defends well,
works hard, and is a threat from set pieces. He can also deliver the unexpected, although he
attempts the unexpected so often that eventually the unexpected is only unexpected in its success.
From his position on the left he works well with Paul Konchesky, Zoltan Gera and Bobby Zamora,
and is a real asset to the team.

WASHINGTON - Kris Kelderman waited until as long as he could to unleash his "warrior."
Turns out the assistant-turned-acting-head-coach's judgment was spot on.
Andy Najar entered as D.C. United's final substitute in the 106th minute and scored the
game-winner a minute later to lead United to a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake in a U.
There are a lot of great things about the women's game, but if there's one thing it could use more
of, it's bicycle kick goals. Of course, when is a bike NOT fun? Never. Since, to our knowledge (and
the WNT Blog is pretty knowledgeable), there has never been a full bike scored in a WNT game, we
asked resident bicycle kick expert Megan Rapinoe (she's our expert because she actually tries them)
who would most likely to score on a bike?
With the amount of simulation in the modern game, one would think that many footballers would do
quite well as actors. But as the following list shows, very few have made the transition into film
and the results, to be generous, have been mixed. From Pele to David Beckham, we profile some of
the more memorable moments when footballers have featured on the silver screen.
Dempsey reacts after scoring for the US against Ghana in 2006 World Cup/AP
Photo As I am sure all fans of football in America are now aware, Clint Dempsey,
the most recognizable and successful United States outfield player in Europe has suffered a
potentially devestating injury in today's Fulham loss to Blackburn.
Clint Dempsey hit the bar for Fulham against Blackburn Rovers Sunday with a spectacular bicycle
kick before suffering an injury that could end his World Cup dreams (AP Photo).
Bob Bradley is doing the same thing as the rest of us - waiting for word on the severity of the
injury the U.S. forward suffered Sunday for Fulham.
A furious late comeback from two goals down is wasted as the Fire surrendered a deluge of corner
kicks and practically unchallenged header opportunities. The last corner kick chance was the
deciding factor as CJ Brown failed to mark Brian Ching in the 85th minute. An insane second half
which saw six combined goals provided some entertainment but little in terms of redemption for an
awful defensive performance.
Brian Ching Bicycle Kick goal!
Brian Ching is one of the most prolific goal scorers in Major League Soccer history. He is great
in the air, he makes dangerous runs, and finds his teammates well. Last week he scored a great
goal, check it out!
If you missed Zlatan Ibrahimovic's bicycle kick for AC Milan this past weekend, or you want to
watch it again and again, see the above video.
There are few goals in soccer that are as beautiful as a bicycle kick. While this wasn't the
best bicycle kick by any means, it still showed how skillful Ibrahimovic can be when he wants
to.
It's going to be a couple of days at least until I can get those other two Top 5 Lists up and get
things back to normal business. There is much to do here at the moment, so please bear with me...We
begin with Eintracht Frankfurt's Caio showing Bayer Leverkusen the old screwball (albeit from
further than 60'6").
FC Barcelona took a firm step towards retaining their La Liga crown with a comfortable 3-0 victory
over visiting Deportivo La Coruna side. First half goal from Bojan and two second half strikes from
Pedro and Toure helped Barca increase their lead on top to six points. Real Madrid who play tonight
could cut that lead back to three.
You don't see this everyday! Two bicycle kicks at the same time... I can't even tell who
scored it?? Can you?
By the way I have no idea what is up with the Spanish cartoon afterwards. Very random.

Now I know, it's an advertisement. So let's just put that aside for a moment. Damn.
Where to start? We have Cristiano Ronaldo nutmegging Homer Simpson while Homer says,
"Ronal.
It's interesting to see the contrast between the Germany which lost 1-0 to Serbia, and the Germany
which demolished Australia 4-0 . They're actually relatively similar except with the difference of
Klose being sent off, and the other match of this group between Ghana and Australia will be played
tomorrow.

Almost decided against writing a review of this one.
Thrills and spills and bellyaches at Craven Cottage this afternoon as Brede Hangeland moved to
the top of my own private "Great People" list and David Stockdale made an unforgettable penalty
save that he'll still be talking about when he's an old man.
We were 2-1 down when referee Peter Walton (who had a strange game) awarded United a penalty
based on some kind of infraction from Damien Duff.

The San Jose Earthquakes gave their playoff hopes a major boost, while the Chicago Fire and
Toronto FC wasted their own chances to scoop up valuable points in this weekend's MLS action.
The Earthquakes overcame defensive injuries to knock off the Los Angeles Galaxy, while FC Dallas
extended the longest unbeaten streak in Major League Soccer to 11 games by beating Chivas USA.
Houston Dynamo forward Brian Ching was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North
American Soccer Reporters for Week 21 of the 2010 MLS season. Ching's hat trick led the Dynamo to a
4-3 victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday at Robertson Stadium.
Ching started his goal-scoring tear in the 31st minute, capitalizing on a loose ball in the
box.

Ching has a nice bicycle kick, but I think Rafa Marquez has my vote. What do you think?
Well, it seems like Man United's investment is finally paying off. Berbatov scored a hat-trick
this past Sunday to help United beat Liverpool 3-2. Watch Berbatov's bicycle kick goal below:

Israeli international Eran Zahavi's reputation received a huge boost this week. During the Europa
League qualification match against Lyon, Zahavi performed an acrobatic bicycle kick that flew past
Lyon keeper Hugo Lloris, putting Hapoel Tel Aviv up 2-1. Zehavi has been building a reputation for
himself as a player for the big occasion, who has [.
As I tweeted earlier today, it would appear that the Wizards are after former Chicago Fire and
Columbus Crew forward, Andy Herron. Reports out of Costa Rica are linking the Wizards with a move
for the forward last played with CS Herediano in Costa Rica. According to one of the reports Herron
is hoping to have a deal finalized by Friday.
So Sao Paulo's resident funnyman Hernanes, is looking at three proposals from
top clubs in Europe and is finally, finally, ready to leave Brazil for European shores.
After that Barca hoo-ha last year, he says : "I'm 24 to 25 years, and I think that now is

Well there we go.
The club neatly summarises ins and outs, but the major business equates to:
Nicky Shorey and Stefano Okaka in; Chris Smalling and Joe Kamara out.
We also welcome Germany youngster Christopher Buchtmann from Liverpool, and have sent Tony
Kallio off on loan again.
The Decade in Review continues with 2004/2005. Juventus, with Fabio Capello at the helm,
reclaimed the Scudetto (which would be revoked the following summer). It was an interesting and
competitive campaign, a campaign in which 40 points, usually the magic number of avoiding
relegation, was not enough to ensure survival.
Good evening folks. We are here in Orlando for tonight's Disney Soccer Classic Final between the
New York Red BUlls and Toronto FC.
I will be providing commentary throughout the night so please feel free to follow along here. As
always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
What a weekend in Serie A. There were 39 goals scored this weekend, a season high, with the
lowest scoring game being Milan's 1-0 victory over Chievo. There were high scorelines all around
(Genoa-Cagliari 5-3, Juventus-Siena 3-3, Livorno-Roma 3-3, Udinese-Palermo 3-2 just to name some),
and it was really fun to watch.
Kevin Knight's superb second-half winner against Finland yesterday got Ireland's UEFA
European Under-17 Championship qualifying hopes back on course.
Two days after Ireland opened their elite group campaign by losing 3-0 by mini-groups hosts Greece,
their win - coupled with draws in two other matches - has resurrected their prospects of reaching
the finals in May to be hosted by Liechtenstein.
Since there was the midweek round, I figured I'd mix both the 29 and 30 giornata posts into one.
So, after these last 2 matchdays, in which a combined total of 38 goals were scored (still not
beating the single day season record of 39), Antonio Di Natale still is atop the scoring chart with
21 goals, a personal best for the Neapolitan fantasista.
La Liga leading FC Barcelona extended their standing lead to six points after defeating
Deportivo La Coruna 3-0 today after Bojan, Pedro, and Yaya Toure all took turns netting goals.
Deportivo began the match showing signs of life that were soon put to rest by a dominant Barca
squad. It looks at though Barca is set to lock down another La Liga title as well as a repeat
Champions League title this year.
Yeah, you read that right. Both Mehdi Ballouchy and Pablo Mastroeni scored for the Rapids on
Saturday. No, you haven't entered the alternate Star Trek universe with evil Spock (too
geeky?).
Saturday night in Foxboro the Rapids played their best game of the season, and probably one of
their top 5 games in the last couple of seasons.
There were a total of 31 goals scored this weekend in Serie A, with the highest scoring game
being Udinese-Siena (4-1). There was only one 0-0 (Napoli-Cagliari) which was also the only draw of
the round. Antonio Di Natale scored his 25th goal of the season, and now is only 2 away from tying
Oliver Bierhoff, who is Udinese's highest single season goalscorer with 27 goals (scored back in
1997-1998).
The key to a soccer tryout is to get noticed, preferably for something good. One sure what to get
noticed and turn heads is to perform a successful bicycle kick.
It was another great night at House Park. It was a beautiful evening; the bad weather that I
hinted at in before the game was nowhere to be seen. The attendance was a solid, regular-season
high of 3,569.
After Baltimore stiffed the Timbers in Portland on Thursday, fan expectations of the Red & White
routing the visitors had been dialed back some.

WASHINGTON - Chris Pontius scored a goal and assisted on another in a 45-minute appearance as
D.C. United held on to upend AC Milan, 3-2, in a friendly at RFK Stadium.
The majority of the 30,367 in attendance figured to see the Italian giants have their way with
Major League's Soccer's worst side, and while Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato teamed to generate some

Paraguay 1-1 Italy: La Albirroja Snatch a Point is a post from: Just Football
Gerardo Martino caused a shock to some when he left out Roque Santa Cruz (a move I predicted in
my match preview). However they still went into this game fairly confident against an ageing Italy
side. The intent from Paraguay was clear early on as Christian Riveros went in for a strong
challenge on Montolivo and was lucky not to be cautioned.

Pitbull. That is Chilean defender Gary Medel's nickname, and it fits him perfectly.
Coming from the capital of Santiago, Medel is a product of Universidad Católica's youth
division.
At least if you look at the final result it doesn't look as bad as last year's game down in Dallas.
KC lost another game, their 7th of the season, and 4th in their last 6 games. We can talk about how
the penalty kick called on Roger Espinoza was a little soft as Marvin Chavez was already going down
as he was attempting to try a bicycle kick on the play, but overall KC didn't deserve much of
anything from that game.
