When female fans of Stuttgart held this banner out (translation : "Bruno, gift me the jacket"),
they really meant it. Unfortunately, head coach Bruno Labbadia wasn't ready to face the cold just
for the superficial cameras. Better luck in summer, ladies!

Chelsea stole an important away goal along with a victory in the Champions League quarter final
after beating Benfica 1-0 with Salomon Kalou's single goal in the second half.
It wasn't an easy game as the Blues weren't actually dominating the game, but probably got the
better luck especially because the home team simply failed to make the most of their opportunities
in front of Peter Cech's goal.
It is said that revenge is a dish best served cold. If temperature is a guide to the revenge
due then Blackburn are going to get roasted.
Our game at Ewood was a seriously depressing affair and one of the low points of this (and any)
season. To concede 4 goals from 3 Blackburn shots and to lose from being 2 up after 20 mins was
desperate for fans just recovering from the MU mauling.

We'll have more on the game later this morning, but for the two of you who haven't seen it yet
here's poor old Fernando Torres (who, to be fair, had already scored a lovely goal to get Chelsea
off the mark at 3-1) and his woeful, caricature-bolstering open goal howler at Old Trafford
yesterday.
Birmingham City keeper Ben Foster could be making his way back to the Premier League if a BBC
report is correct.
West Brom is looking for a keeper after Scott Carson left and manager Roy Hodgson is thought to
favor bringing in the former Manchester United backstop.
The Blues were unable to stay in the Premier League last season with Foster as their keeper, but
they did manage a Carling Cup title.

Enjoying slightly better luck than their U21 counterparts, after hitting the woodwork nearly 150
times in the first-half, England's U17 tyros eventually got their World Cup campaign in Mexico off
to a winning start with a 2-0 win over Rwanda thanks to a ballsy little dink from Everton's Hallan
Hope and a bit of a corker from Liverpool prodigy Raheem Sterling.
Kudos to the Timbers Army members who organized the large "RAPTURED" banner down in section
104-103. I don't think there was another SG in MLS this weekend that paid homage to Saturday's
unique "event." My condolences go out to those who actually believed it was going to happen. Better
luck next prediction I suppose.
NOTE: I've been trying to post this for days, but there's been problems with logging in. That's
also why there's no picture here. Sorry.
It was a weekend of big wins and losses that continued downward spirals. It was a high scoring
one too, with 21 goals in the 9 goals from Friday to Sunday.
2010 was a rare barren season for SLeague side SAFFC. They won nothing. OK, maybe the won the toss
once or twice but that was about it.
Coach Richard Bok made some changes and went into 2011 hoping for better luck but if anything last
season's inconsistencies have not gone away.
A big investment at the back has seen the experienced Daniel Bennett joined by the consistent Bah
Mamadou and the younger Daniel Hammond.
Carlo Ancelotti and Sir Alex Ferguson both played down the significance of Manchester United's
victory against Chelsea in the 2008 Champions League final as their sides prepare to renew
acquaintances in the quarter-finals, although the former acknowledges victory would be a big step
in the "history" of his club.
It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon in Ft. Lauderdale Florida when the New York Redbulls played
against the Chicago Fire. Everyone who is anyone in the soccer world was there, but due to
mis-communication between the Red Bulls front office and Lockhart personnel, some of them had just
a little trouble getting in the door.
Some quick thoughts on Spurs' triumph at the San Siro, just as soon as I try and stop an Italian
from headbutting a 59 year old Scot...
First and foremost, that was a fantastic performance from pretty much everyone on the Spurs
team. Gomes made some crucial saves, the defence looked more solid than ever and the midfield
linked up well with Crouch, creating numerous chances.
#5 - Nothing: I've got nothing. I've been sitting here all day and I'm completely
uninspired. Better luck next week.
#4 - SuperLiga: Just die already! This cash grab nonsense has got to stop. Nobody cares
anymore and quite frankly it's become a pointless attempt to score points with Hispanic soccer fans
in the US by bringing Mexican League teams to play against MLS teams.
Not many changes in this week's WCR Top 25. Real Madrid dropped a few points; I'm not sure why
because its Copa Del Rey loss doesn't factor into the ranking process. Lazio and Tottenham dropped
a few points, but those both make more sense since both those clubs suffered disappoint domestic
league losses during the week.
What a fantastic performance. What rotten luck. One stupid moment!
I must say this game turned out to be the reverse of what I'd expected. The first ten minutes
were the most exciting and Arsenal had City on the ropes for that period. After that the visitors
found their defensive shape and made it much more difficult for Arsenal to open them up.
Tomorrow will hopefully see Scarborough Athletic back in league action when we are due to play
at Tadcaster Albion, but we have had another layer of snow fall this evening and it is snowing now
at 9.30 pm on the eve of the game so I am guessing there will be a late pitch inspection sometime
tomorrow.
