An impressive list I'm sure you'll agree, but by no means definitive.
Star Gazing: 6 Best Young Players at Under-19 European Championships 2010 is a post from: Just
Football
After a highly entertaining youth tournament in Basse-Normandie, we take a look back at the
U-19s European Championships and casts his eye over the future stars on show.
One of the more curious quirks about international tournaments (or any tournaments really for
that matter) is that, no matter how much you immerse yourself in it, dedicating valuable time and
energy along the way, once it is over, it is over.
With the end of 2009 lots of people are putting together lists on the "best of the decade" stuff.
Soccer America has put out their MLS All-Decade team. The Wizards are represented pretty well on
the list, with 2 current and 2 former Wizards on the team.
The only representative on the Best XI team is the Wizards current captain, Jimmy Conrad.
After Manchester United once again thrashed sorry Arsenal at the Emirates we'd thought it's time
to revisit our first ever Ultimate 11. One of our members has selected his all time United 11 (from
1970 onwards). Do you agree with Dan's selection?
Do you really know your clubs proud history or are you just a teenage glory hunter?
As the dust settles on the 2010 African Cup of Nations, Essam El-Hadary climbs down from his
crossbar celebrating and Egypt put their trophy back in the cabinet, it is time for me to name my
Best XI of the tournament. This year is slightly different to the last Cup of Nations. In Ghana I
had to pick a team of the tournament and a second team, such was the plethora of top quality
performers in 2008.
Defense stole the spotlight this past week in Major League Soccer as many of the matches looked
like wars of attrition rather than displays of the "beautiful game". Several goalkeepers showed
their worth - Kansas City's Jimmy Nielsen, Toronto FC's Stefan Frei, the Galaxy's Donovan Ricketts,
and the Crew's Will Hesmer in particular.
COS contributor Pablo Siguenza builds his XI of managerial talent that used to be pretty damned
useful on the field of play.

Training and tactical knowledge are skills managers use to prepare their players for a long and
arduous season, but the intangibles are what separates the mediocre from the great.
Just Football's World Cup 2010 Team of the Tournament is a post from: Just Football
Yes it's that time of the tournament again (i.e. the end) where we look back and assess what
was. With the 2010 World Cup now over it is time for me to name my team of the
tournament. I'll admit I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to World Cup teams of the tournament, I've
jotted down a best XI on the back of some grotty old receipt or used envelope for every World Cup
since about 1998 if I remember rightly, meticulously drawing up a shortlist of players and then
combing them down to a final eleven.
It's official, Sky are not alone when it comes to licking Manchester United's backside. Premier
League sponsors Barclays have run a poll inviting their readers to vote for the best ever Premier
League XI. The response was pretty emphatic but if you're not a fan of The Red Devils it's probably
best to look away now.
MLS has already announced its award finalists for the 2010 season and throughout the month will
be slowly unveiling the winners of each award (congratulations Andy Najar and Donovan Ricketts).
On November 15, MLS will announce the Best XI for the year, and few things get soccer fans as
excited as picking out the best players for an event or season.

Donovan was on the ballot as a forward. According to MLS Commissioner Don Garber, the
league felt Donovan belonged on the Best XI, so after the votes were counted, the league placed him
on the final list as a midfielder. It's unclear who was bumped off (the player who received the
fifth-most votes among midfielders).
Plutonium? Check.DeLorean? Check.Orange vest? Check.Yep, let's put the peddle to the metal and dial
it back to July 1989 when an irate 9-year-old version of myself was nothing short of apoplectic, no
not because Andreas Papandreou stepped down as prime minister of Greece, but because Terry
Steinbach(*) was voted to start the 1989 MLB All-Star game over slugging Orioles backstop Mickey
Tettleton,
It's that time of the year again. With the days fast approaching December 31, awards for the "Best
XI" of 2010 are being handed left and right. The biggest one (at least as far as us Europeans are
concerned) probably being UEFA's Team of the Year. FCINTERNEWS: A little consolation for Wesley
Sneijder, after he had been excluded from the raise for the golden baal.
They Think It's All Over... weighs up the best XI in the Premier League so far this season.
Toronto FC is the type of club that MLS would love to be successful. They have a loyal and
dedicated fan base, Toronto is a growing soccer market that hosted the 2008 All Star Game, and the
team has a good core of players almost made a playoff run last year. Despite all this, the club's
offseason has been an absolute debacle to date.
