The beach ball season rolls on. That's seven league games without a win against Birmingham.
And both sides will feel cheated.

The Americans Abroad must have known this was the final weekend before the U.S. national team's
two European friendlies, because there was a plethora of positive performances and five different
goal scorers in one of the most successful weekends in recent memory.

Any Liverpool fan would remember the skills and talent of Danish turned honorary Scouser, Jan
Molby. Voted in at no. 16 on the list of 100 Players Who Shook The Kop, he was a player with as
immense a talent as was his waistline. Before the elegant Xabi Alonso, Liverpool fans marvel at the
sublime passing skills and long range shooting of Jan Molby.

About six weeks ago I did a piece predicting West Ham to win the Premier League based on their
league position this year and Manchester United's league position last year after 5 games.
That prediction hasn't been working out too well (hopefully you didn't think I was
serious...although I'm pretty sure I still managed to annoy some Millwall fans.

Arsenal 2 Liverpool 1 (Carling Cup 4th round)
Hello Gooners. Well that was close as well, just like the previous two games. Where was the 3-1
I predicted? As it turns out we didn't need that third goal.
You won't agree but for me Liverpool probably shaded it by virtue of the opportunities they
created.

I didn't put up a Weekend Round-up yesterday because I figured with the midweek round tomorrow,
it would be pointless to update everything twice. So we'll dive in straight to Goals of the Week.
Not as great as last week, but still some good goals, especially Daniele Mannini's one-time volley
vs.

It was a great weekend in the Premier League for Chelsea. Not only did the Blues finally hit top
gear to crush Blackburn 5-0, Liverpool took three points off Manchester United while Man City and
Arsenal both dropped points having surrendered two goal leads.
Chelsea now sit two points clear at the top of the table with the joint best goal difference and,
whilst more difficult games are on the horizon (not least Man Utd next month), things are looking
bright.

Raul
The forgotten man in Real Madrid's offensive rotation reminded La Liga fans that he is still
among the best goal scorers. With Cristiano Ronaldo out for a while it is Raul's time to shine
and prove once again in his career that he is as valuable as any player on the squad.

This is going to be a good goals of the week post. There are many nice goals, and in particular
the goals from Stankovic and Dessena are awesome to watch. Goals after the jump.
Dejan Stankovic vs. Genoa Stankovic notices that Amelia makes an error on the clearance and moves
to the right, hitting the ball on the volley from way out and it sailed over Amelia and into the
net.

Will be awarded to the player who scores the best goal off a balloon lying on the pitch.A lot of
painstaking research on the net over a period of five whole minutes has turned up two
candidates. One is Darren Bent. His sublime effort is on view in the last post. This second candidate
is a player from Sheffield United who also used a balloon to good effect.

[101 Great Goals] This goal is already being declared by many the goal of 2009. It just might be.
What is almost entirely certain is that it's the best goal ever to come from a Serie D Brazilian
side. (For those without basic alphabet skills D is the fourth tier.) One bicycle kick is good. Two

Another Arsenal left-back who swings both ways England under-21s beat Macedonia 6-3 last night

Thanks to a late goal from new loan signing Marlon Harewood, Newcastle United managed to avoid
defeat, and with it, go three points clear at the top of the Championship.
It wasn't all plain sailing though and QPR proved they were no pushovers. They went in front on
the 7th minute after a mistake from Jose Enrique allowed Ben Watson to slide the ball past Steve
Harper.

Liverpool's dynamic duo of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard are fast being accepted as the
world's best goal-scoring double act.
Liverpool have recorded six successive victories in all competitions ahead of Tuesday's clash with
Fiorentina in the Champions League.
Fiorentina moved into fourth spot in Serie A on Saturday with a 1-0 win at Livorno, while Liverpool
thrashed Hull 6-1 with a hat-trick from Torres and one from Gerrard.

I almost felt sorry for Hull City who we destroyed 6-1. A hat-trick from Torres, a wonder (did he
mean it) goal from Gerrard, plus a brace from Babel. It's a great result, which leaves us with the
best goal difference in the league.
Also we're only 3 points from the top of the table, thanks to Chelsea's shock defeat to Wigan.

Lionel Messi
It has been claimed many times by many different people, Messi is quite simply "the man" as we
say here in the states. Messi continues to fuel Barca's ridiculous offense and who knows maybe
the club can potentially win the treble two straight seasons even though it had never been done by
any La Liga squad ever before last season.

Keeper close to scoring best goal by a goalie ever! Notts County (with new boy Sol Campbell making

on Saturday. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel decided to set up camp in the Morecambe penalty area
during a sustained spell of pressure.

As the playoff race has heated up in Major League Soccer, so have the goals that have been
scored. This week we saw plenty of good goals but only a select amount were above the rest.
The best goal for me was either Sainey Nyassi's run against New York or Brad Davis' strike
against RSL.
(Note QuickKicks on the league site did not have the Columbus/Chicago goals)
Order of video: David Beckham, Edson Buddle, Brian Ching, Yura Movsisyan, Brad Davis, Dax
McCarty, Jimmy Conrad, Sainey Nyassi, and John Wolyneic.

This Wednesday England's national squad will play in a big match against Croatia.  Both clubs
are at the top of the Group Six table and England is currently four points ahead of their upcoming
opponent and have played in one less match. In fact England is not only in first place in their
group table, they have arguably been the best club in all of the European brackets.

Serie A is back which means Goals of the Week is back! You can't always expect the first day of
the season to have the greatest goals, as the teams are just starting to get all their summer rust
off and haven't hit their peak yet. But there were still some nice goals for us to watch this past
weekend.

Well these are the clubs that earned their way to the top next season. It would be a long road
for these clubs, but at the end of the day all three organizations must be pleased with their hard
work and next season will vie for a spot in the top tier of Spanish football.
Tenerife
Tenerife, the third ranked Segunda Division club, secured the last promotion spot by only three
points.

Well first up I think it's only right to indulge in a moment of smugness from this lofty perch
atop the country's pile. While I don't think any of us are daft enough to make fanciful predictions
after four days of the season, the cockerel is crowing, and the morning-after smugness in the
office has proved particularly gratifying.

Well their is the lucky clubs and the unlucky ones too. Unfortunately, sometimes the gap is so
small between these clubs that it is hard to say where exactly it all went wrong. They say
football is a game of inches, but sometimes it much more precise then that. These were the teams
that let it slip in between their fingers.

Barcelona are making, but keep in mind that many of the stars of tomorrow are possibly playing in
the secondary league today.

We hear at the PLTO believe that Carlo Ancelotti has the perfect coaching style to mesh with the

coach has taken over the Blues you can expect the Blues misfortunes to quickly turn around as
well.

I am sure that it is no surprise that Barcelona is winner's of the 2009 LLTO La Liga's Best
Squad. And why not?  Barca has already taken home every other significant trophy this season, so
a fourth probably won't be too much for the squad to handle. The only question to ask now is:Â
Is Barca the best squad ever?

The clip showing the best goal of the week, and a strong candidate for goal of the year (not to
take anything away from the signal efforts of Davy Arnaud, Dwayne DeRosario, Clint Mathis etc.)

As the ball starts to "bite" and head toward the upper 90, David Beckham, standing behind the play,

This coming Saturday is set to be best pre-season friendly (and fun day) ever, in my opinion.
