I have to say Roman Abramovich and the Chelsea board have surprised me this week, they really
have!.
Now I know with Euro 2012 coming up, the Top European clubs will be looking to get their summer
signings done and dusted before the competition starts or shortly after if deals are already in
place, but the fact that Chelsea have acted quickly has surprised me.
It has been rumoured that Fulham striker Moussa Dembele has been tipped to a move to Champion's
League Winners Chelsea.
The Belgian midfielder-turned-striker only has one year remaining on his contract, and with news
that Manchester United could potentially make a bid for his services, he has stated he is not ready
to talk about a contract renewal.
Rather than write a detailed match report, I wanted to do this instead. It was quite simply the
best footballing 12 hours of my life on Saturday and I am still buzzing over the fact that we are
Champions League winners!.
What I will say about the game is that Chelsea's determination and resolve shone through yet again.
1. What a match. In the words of Gary Neville: "FIFA, UEFA stop footbaaaaaall." 2. All the money
Roman Abramovich has thrown at the manager's job to fulfil his Champions League dream, and all he
needed was a West Brom reject. They could've had Gary Megson years ago. 3. Chelsea proved that
having John [.
Well, they finally did it and boy, do Chelsea deserve it! Saturday night's
Champions League final was a fitting representation of the football patterns we've come to witness
in the last decade. The notion of "Finders, keepers" coupled by the
actual, cruel possibility of denying a team their fairytale ending has
come to light once again.
Redemption. Vindication. Triumph.
In the space of 120 plus minutes, Chelsea washed away four years of anguish, validated nine
years of Roman Abramovich-led investment, and a lifetime of longing from a base of fans salivating
for the taste of silverware on the continent. True to form, it was a battling display from
Chelsea's aging core of veterans that left it late.
Chelsea's 2012 UEFA Champions League title was a storybook finish, and after looking back on the
epic instant classic, the result seems even more Disney-esque.
Looking at the teams on paper, you would figure that it would be a contrast of two very different
styles - knowing that Bayern Munich would come out and press Chelsea offensively, while Chelsea
would have to absorb pressure and play off the counter.
Below are player ratings (on a scale of 1 to 10) for Bayern Munich 1-1 (3-4 on penalties)
Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League final on May 19, 2012.
Bayern Munich
Neuer 9 Made some saves in the shoot-out and converted one as well
Tymoschuk 6
Boateng 6
Contento 6
Lahm 6.
Alright, this is really just an excuse to throw a little link your way, but a little information
never hurt anybody*. This lovely little guide should serve to inform and stimulate the happy happy
portions of the visual cortex (scientifically speaking) all at the same time. Plus you can pass it
off to your friends who claim to like the sport because they watch one game a year.
It started last night and has gathered pace today. A number of reputable journalists are
reporting that Roberto Di Matteo is planning to start Ryan Bertrand at left wing tonight in
Munich.
Crazy or insane?
Talk about unearthing something out of left field.

What a difference a week makes in football, talk about being brought back down to earth with a bump
from flying high after the
Nou Camp and
beating QPR 6-1 last
Sunday!.
I said in my
match preview that with confidence flowing through our squad, I felt
confident in Chelsea getting the three points because as far as
finishing in the top four
was concerned, Tonight was litterally all or nothing.
Tonight Chelsea take on Fulham at the Cottage with another three points in mind if we are to keep
up any kind of pressure on Tottenham and Arsenal for fourth place.
We will know how Tottenham have got on against Norwich before kick off as they play this afternoon
but whatever happens, Chelsea need a win tonight.
Chelsea have no time to dwell on
beating Benfica and progressing through to yet another semi
final against Barcelona as we have Wigan at the Bridge on Saturday. Thinking ahead to the game I am
wondering who RDM will start for this one bearing in mind we also have Fulham away on Monday night!
After a fantastic performance in the week RDM takes his Chelsea side into Sundays FA CUP quarter
final against Leicester with a Wembley semi final waiting in the next round
The question is "Who starts the game for Chelsea?".
Will he make changes with no disrespect to our opponents or Will he decide to play a full
strength side?
It was interesting to see Roberto Di Matteo's first team selection as the interim Chelsea Manager
against Birmingham the other night. He reverted to a 4-2-3-1 formation and brought into the side
the likes of Ryan Bertrand, Mikel and Salomon Kalou.
This weekend against Stoke will be the first real indication from RDM of his intentions from now
until the end of the season.
Last night Chelsea beat Birmingham 2-0 to progress through to the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup and
a home tie against "and Leicester" with goals from Juan Mata and a cracker from Raul Meireles.
Danny Sturridge missed a sitter from 6 yards and once again against Birmingham, Juan Mata missed a
penalty.
Listen there is plenty of debate at the moment about our players, team selection and substitutions
etc. Again
last night's was surprising and the fall out afterwards prompted me to have yet
another rant at our club!.
What I want people to do right now is look at our squad and the players we have, forget form and
favouritism, reported player power at the club and tell me what you personally believe to be our
strongest eleven and the side that YOU believe can turn things round for us in the League and in
the second leg against Napoli.
I think it's fair to say that as Chelsea fans we are looking for a response after
last
weekend and the
events that have taken place this week. We are looking
for a 100% improved performance on the
rubbish we had to sit there and watch last
weekend, from the Manager and our players.
Hey, at least this guy isn't going to torment us today.

1. It's a strange one to take, I think if you had asked me before hand I would have said that it
was important Chelsea didn't lose the game. Saying that, to play well for the first ten minutes of
the second half and find ourselves 3-0 up was a bonus!. To throw it all away is tough to take.

The two teams have been confirmed for today.Bosingwa starts at left-back, Cahill makes his debut
and Essien returns for first start of the season.
Chelsea:

Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, Bertrand, Hutchinson, Romeu, Piazon, Lukaku.
The following table shows the average age of player that each of the competing nations fielded
during the group stages of the Africa Cup of Nations 2012 in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea. As expected
Cote D'Ivoire's fading golden generation who are attempting to win their nation their first major
trophy since 1992 is one of the oldest squads at the tournament.
The massive clash at Stamford Bridge this weekend could see Chelsea put out a back-four with two
new starters Ryan Bertrand at LB and Gary Cahill at CB. They could be joined by two of Luiz,
Ivanovic, and/or Bosingwa ... Continue reading →
It's a massive game on Sunday and two sides in contrasting situations. Chelsea are not playing as
well as we would like to see them playing and are still
struggling to create chances and
feed Fernando Torres. We find ourselves 12 points behind United.
United, with plenty of injuries are still picking up vital wins and are now back on level par with
City.
JOSH. Fortunately, he won't be playing against us. Nevertheless, this is going to be hella
difficult.

The African Nations Cup kicks off this weekend, which provides a handy
opportunity for under performing league players to show what they're about! Unfortunately,
perennial favourites Egypt failed to qualify for this alongside Algeria,
Cameroon and Nigeria.
With the news that
Gary Cahill has finally signed for Chelsea and after already asking you
guys
what the signing of Cahill means for the likes of David Luiz, I am wondering what you
the Chelsea fans believe is now our best starting back four.
It's important to remember that AVB intended to play a high line in the Premier League with
defenders who are also technically gifted.
This afternoon Portsmouth travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the FA Cup third round.
Can you believe that just over a year and a half ago, both sides fought out a tight encounter in
the FA Cup final at Wembley!?.
Since then, both sides have had their dramas. We as Chelsea fans think we've had it bad but for
Portsmouth fans, they had to face the reality of their football club being wound up, court cases,
liquidators and contemplating life without their club anymore!
It's a simple question but there could be so many answers. Chelsea could do with another win but
with the busy festive period only just finished, I wonder if AVB will rotate the side and bring in
some of the fringe players and some youngsters?
This is a competition the club always wants to win.

It seems that even if AVB tells the board that he wants us to meet the minimum fee release clause
in Alvaro Pereira's contract, Porto are determined to hold onto him.
The Porto president, Pinto Da Costa has told Chelsea to simply forget about making any moves for
the player as he won't be sold.

Roberto Mancini ahead of the game tonight has spoken of Danny Sturridge and has made it perfectly
clear that he can't believe that Sturridge was able to leave City because he would be a first team
regular if he was still there now.
He said:
"I know Sturridge very well, I have watched him many times because he grew up in
Manchester and someone let him go for almost nothing.
