Bearing in mind that you could probably rupture Robin van Persie's spleen if you stared at him
hard enough, it's little wonder that Diego Lugano's reckless, two-footed stomp after only 30
minutes of last night's 'friendly' between Holland and Uruguay didn't land the Arsenal crock in an
Intensive Care ward.

Ah, here's a photo you don't see everyday. A giggling Ibrahim Afellay (make

Interestingly, van Marwijk has given an interview admitting that the Oranje did find it
hard to get over their World Cup finale loss against Spain last year, but are officially back in
business!

The hosts had the better of the exchanges but could not avenge last year's FIFA World Cup
quarter-final defeat by Bert van Marwijk's men.
Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk will possibly have to make do without the services of
attacker Robin van Persie when the Dutch take on England in an international friendly on
Wednesday after the Arsenal ace picked up an ankle injury.
Van Persie sustained the knock in his side's 2-1 friendly loss against Benfica on Saturday and
stayed behind in the dressing room at half-time due to the ankle problem after opening the scoring
in the 34th minute.
Bert van Marwijk is ready for the new competition. The team manager follows the Eredivisie, but
from a distance. "It's good for Oranje that Wijnaldum and Strootman decided to move to the Dutch
top. It's good for their development to have to carry a team with high expectations."

He wants the team to win every game. Winning needs to be second
nature. Every match is important. Losing against a better opponent is ok. Losing against a weaker
opponent when you dominated the game and had more possession is a big NONO.

LONDON, England Cesc Fabregas has been ruled out of Spain's international friendly against Colombia

When Hungary scored the 3-3 in Amsterdam, Bert van Marwijk could be seen kicking and screaming

En un año ganó cuatro títulos con el Inter. En Sudáfrica fue el verdugo de Brasil y uno de

World-champion Spain's stint atop the FIFA rankings is officially over, with the Netherlands
being the usurpers.
Bert van Marwijk's side ascended to the No. 1 spot after the Spaniards crashed to a friendly 2-1
defeat to Italy earlier in August.
Robin Van Persie managed to finish a game for the Netherlands for a change without succumbing to an
injuries and scored four goals in the 11-0 win against San Marino. However the goals did not come
from his usual position as a striker. The Metro reports that Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk asked Van

Serbia is set to face the Faroe Islands in Group C action, while Kazakhstan heads to Azerbaijan
in an exciting match-up of countries that can't qualify for next summer's European Championships.
Plus there might be a couple of games that you'll be vaguely interested in because hey, it's
football, which is better than nothing.
Oranje is qualified. The missed penalty of Turkey was enough to make it a clear case. Bert van
Marwijk poured himself a glass of wine. "I would have taken that anyway," he smiled. He was content
with the qualification, but not with the performance of his team. "A lame performance. [read

Spoilers: Everybody came out of this set of internationals fit and unscathed and ready to take
on Stoke on Saturday. Except perhaps for Martin Skrtel, though any damage he picked up is going to
be of the mental variety. In any case, September's international break is over and done with, which
means no more worries about Liverpool players getting injured in borderline meaningless games.
"Sneijder really is only this high!"
Bert van Marwijk was once a gifted left-winger. Headstrong. Creative. Vulnerable. As coach, he

Jonathan Spector picked up an ankle injury over the weekend, but that won't stop him from
attending the U.S. men's national team camp this week.
Spector is set to join head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and the rest of the U.S. team in South
Florida on Monday as it gets ready to prepare for its Saturday friendly against Honduras, a source
told SBI.
Bert van Marwijk sees too many "sorry, can't come" messages on his phone. These last weeks, he
got little texts from Afellay, Stekelenburg, Heitinga and Sneijder. The former Feyenoord coach
doesn't see any change until the international bodies start to finetune the international match
calender.

FIFA's infamous international breaks are dreaded by most club soccer fans, who think that they
kill the momentum of the league season and add extra weight on the legs of key players.
Liverpool's two biggest matches of the early season are divided by yet another international
break, with all of the active national sides on the continent wrapping up their Euro 2012
qualifying campaigns, and World Cup 2014 qualifiers starting nearly everywhere else. Fitness
struggles mean there's a bit less action than usual for Kenny Dalglish's side, but there's a decent
amount taking part in qualifiers or friendlies around across the globe.

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that Robin Van Persie is suffering from fatigue, and
he has been desperately trying to find games in which the Dutchman can be rested, without much
success it should be added! But with the international break upon us, Wenger pleaded with the Dutch
manager Bert van Marwijk (who [.
Still very quiet, as you might imagine.
The main story this morning is the news that football has come under attack from something
called 'common sense'. Robin van Persie has been allowed back to Arsenal to rest up as his
international manager has taken a hugely sensible approach to things.
There is no news yet with regards to the severity of Rafael van der Vaart's latest hamstring
injury but the story was met with a depressing feeling of resignation among Spurs fans.
VDV has been at the heart of Tottenham's great unbeaten run with six goals in five games but you
always feel that the Dutchman's next hamstring problem is just around the corner.
Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with a move for in-demand midfielder Kevin Strootman who
has been attracting interest from a number of European clubs are starring for PSV Eindhoven.
The 21-year-old only joined the Dutch club in the summer after coming through the youth system at
Sparta Rotterdam and has so far impressed both for his club and for his country with some assured
displays for Holland.
Fulham's game against FC Twente on Thursday night is attracting plenty of attention from fellow
Premier League sides Liverpool and Newcastle who are keen to watch Luuk de Jong in action.
The Twente striker is a long term target for Newcastle and in recent weeks has also been linked
with Liverpool after starting the season in superb form in Holland.
