The superb run of form that has lifted humble Real Mallorca to fourth in La Liga faces a stiff test
when Gregorio Manzano's side travel to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid on Sunday. Undefeated
leaders Barcelona, who were held 1-1 at home by Villarreal last weekend and have a two-point
advantage over Real, will be without striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic when they play at promoted Tenerife
on Sunday.

SIR Alex Ferguson is ready to pounce for Karim Benzema six months after being snubbed by
the French international.
Yesterday in Part 1 of my 10 bold predictions for 2010 I touched on the UEFA Champions League, the
NASL/USL dispute, MLS champion and the EPL top 4. Today I will hit many of the same competitions
including the 2010 World Cup. Here is part 2:
6) The MLS will announce the next round of expansion for the league, brining in the Montreal Impact
as the 19th team to join the league in 2010.
This looks like an ad for D&G don't you think?! Seriously, what is
Palle d'oro even doing on the pitch? All of us already have nightmares of
Luca Toni with his new number 30 shirt and now GoldenBalls has returned to wreak
havoc on the city of Milan.

Rumour No.1: Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to put a
number of his star players up for sale in an attempt to rejuvenate his squad in the wake of a
number of stale performances this season, not least the toothless outing against Leeds last
week.
Liverpool bosses have been accused of committing an act of
"self-destruction" after confirming that the club are looking to leave their Anfield legacy behind
and sell the naming rights for the new stadium at Stanley Park.
The club's commercial director, Ian Ayre, recently told Goal.
After a crazy first half of the season for Liverpool, it looks like not just the team is in a
bad shape. The administration of the club has considered selling the naming rights to their new
Stanley Park stadium to the highest bidder. So yes, it seems like the end of the legacy of Anfield
is near.
I'll start this with a simple statement I'm not a Liverpool fan, but I do want them to do well
because it's good for soccer around the world. I heard that Rafa wants to sign a player during the
window, but first he must check to see if its ok. I know what some of you are thinking, ok he has
to check with the board, but over the last couple of weeks that is not the case he would have to
check with the variety of different supporters club that represent fans of the teams.
Every defence has its deputy. While it takes four to construct and coordinate a back line, there
is inevitably a linchpin, a player who directs his team's defensive formation and ensures that the
door to goal is kept well and truly shut.
For Barcelona, that skipper is Carles Puyol, the aging but foot-perfect rock called upon to
extinguish danger when all other remedies have failed.
The meetings held between
Racing Santander and Real Madrid last week, regarding the future
of La Ligas newest star,
Sergio Canales, seemed to have destined the player for the
Bernabeu, but their chances of landing the player now hang in the balance. The players father, and
agent, Ángel Canales had spent most of last week in England talking to several clubs, Chelsea,
Arsenal and
Man City among them, with representatives of the Manchester club seen arriving
today at Santander Airport, in an attempt to sweeten a deal.
Real Valladolid 0 - 3 Barcelona
(0-1) 20' Xavi, (0-2) 22' Dani Alves, (0-3) 54' Messi
Barcelona reached the halfway point of the season unbeaten with yet another sublime performance
which saw them reach 23 goals away from home. A breathtaking break saw Xavi put
them infront before a cross-come-shot from Alves put them further ahead two minutes later.

Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has joined Hamburg on an 18-month deal, the
German club have announced.
Real Madrid midfielder Kaka has told the Spanish press that regardless of any arguments that may
come from the Old Trafford faithful, Manchester United are a weaker outfit than they have been
in recent years. The reason for that, of course, is the overly hyped transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo
from the Red Devils to Los Blancos.
Napoleon's famous quote about preferring lucky generals to clever ones has been directed at Rafael
Benitez before.
Some critics have used the ‘lucky boss' argument to suggest that fortune has somehow favoured his
haul of two La Liga titles, a UEFA Cup, an FA Cup and a Champions League.
They even claim that because his two Liverpool trophies came via the lottery of a penalty
shoot-out, they are somehow devalued.
