A mid-major power, the two biggest chokers without three lions on their shirts, and the Germans,
who will, like they always do, win with ruthless efficiency.
Uruguay are like the poor kids in an American sports movie. Forlan is the main character, the
talented kid surrounded by dweebs, and Suarez is the bad boy who joins up later just before the
dweebs discover that they are actually all fundamentally perfect, if unspectacular players
perfectly suited to showcase the talent of the other two.
The 2010 World Cup Finals are less than two weeks away and in this post we have a look at some
of the best World Cup goals ever scored from 1966 to 2006.

1.
When Chelsea scored their second against Arsenal on Sunday, I squealed with excitement and
jumped so high that I almost stuck my hand in the ceiling fan. Unadulterated delight. After such a
feverish encounter, my eyes were blood shot and teary. Delight, but equally, conjunctivitis.
There is only so much that one can take from another human being before one snaps.
I have immense respect for the man from a footballing perspective; he has put so much into the
British game as we know it, reforming the entire drinking and dietary culture around the game and
contributing a new attacking flair with a dogged defensive solidity.
I'm sure most of you saw an article on Sport.co.uk claiming Arsenal "could remove their
trademark white sleeves from their home kit as they celebrate the 125th anniversary of the club in
2011 by replicating shirts worn by the club's founding fathers." With not much going on news-wise
ahead of the Bolton match, except, of course, Cesc's return from injury, I figured I would take
this pre-match Friday to gauge my readers' opinions on the kits.
Cristiano Ronaldo was "the man" from a fantasy perspective a few years back, but his career in The
Premier League just wasn't long enough for him to be called one of the true "Premier League
Greats." Henry, Shearer, Bergkamp, Yorke, ... Continue reading →
Before I proceed apologies to those whose comments were stuck in moderation. I'm travelling and
wasn't able to access the internet yesterday. Haven't quite gotten into using the mobile for

Now onto some facts I wanted to mention,
In 01-02 the fantastic double winning team with the likes of Henry, Bergkamp, Adams, and other
legends didn't do particularly well in the Champions League.
As Arsenal fans, I think that we are blessed. Maybe not so much during the Graham reign but
definitely during the Wenger era. From Bergkamp to Vieira to Henry, we've had truly world-class
players that would walk right into any team in the world. Players that on their day, defines the
outcome of any match.
Let's get straight to it. I do not have much time over the next 2days to post anything as I've got
a friend's wedding to attend and actively involved in. Although I should be back with a match
preview on Sunday. With the big game coming up on Sunday, I thought it would nice to [...]
Chapter 2: Ouch
Ducky's note was right. My metatarsal is sore. His anatomical reference was wrong though. My
left metatarsal is all right. My right metatarsal is the one that's gone wrong. On the whole you
would be right in saying it is a clear case of injury added to insult.
16 Kasım 1977. Almanya-İsviçre maçı. Klaus Fischer sağ kanattan Schalke'den takım arkadaşı
Abramczik'in arka direğe doğru kestiği topu kimsenin beklemediği bir reaksiyon gösterip
On a morning with not much gossip in the world of football, I thought I would reflect back on
another article from Arsene Wenger written in 2003, a year that saw us beat sides like Manchester
City 5-1 at Maine Road but then lose to Blackburn Rovers at their home ground 2-0.
The team that beat City was Taylor, Lauren, van Bronkhorst, Keown, Campbell, Gilberto, Vieira,
Pires, Wiltord, Bergkamp and Henry.
Saturday's game at the Emirates marks the first competitive visit to our new home by Arsenal
great, Patrick Vieria.
I say competitive, as he obviously played in the first ever game at the new ground in Bergkamp's
testimonial.
He remains the last captain of this club to lift a trophy, the 2005 FA Cup, and his famous last
ever kick of a ball for the club was the winning penalty that saw us beat the Mancs to the cup.
Netherlands
World Cup
Appearances 8 (First in 1934)
Best result Runners-up, 1974 and 1978
European Championship
Appearances 8 (First in 1976)

The Dutch are quite possibly the best team, to never win a World Cup.

The pass by Milito to Stankovic is superb (even if he didn't fully mean it), the assist by
Stankovic is gorgeous (like something Bergkamp or Scholes might pull off), the finish by Maicon is
BRUTAL. Perhaps not the prettiest goal you'll ever see, but so damned effective much like Inter's
boss Jose Mourinho, then.
Which one, Tomato, Horseradish, Daddies, HP, Soy, Tartare...... Which bloomin sauce!!
Seriously, just how many times are we going to read such a comment over the next month or
two?
Yesterday I read Joe Cole had signed for us, then I read he has struck a deal to re-unite with
good old 'Arry and that's after hearing he was staying at the Chavs having already signed for Old
Red Nose.
On This Day In Spurs History: 14th June
1994 On this day in 1994, an F.A. commission found the club guilty of making illegal loans to
players between 1985 and 1989. We received a £600,000 fine, a 12-point league deduction and were
banned from playing in the FA Cup.
There was a time when money never really mattered to a player. All that counted was heart and
passion. Those days, i am sorry to write are long gone. With the commercialisation of the sport,
players can afford to perform poorly for their national sides and still be comforted to know that a
five and for some six figure salary will be deposited in their accounts every Friday.
"It was a long time ago, Total Football if you play like that now it's very hard to win the
Cup". For anyone expecting a riotous feast of football in this afternoons quarter final offering,
the words of Netherland's coach Bert van Marwijk should serve a stark warning that we may be about
to witness yet another 90 minutes of tedium at this summers World Cup.

The most elegant and cultured midfielder England has ever produced? Glenn Hoddle, of course.
It's absurd that Hoddle won 53 caps for his country, especially when considering that a vastly
inferior player such as David Beckham has more than twice that amount.
If there was ever a niche in the football realm which needed filling, it was most certainly that
of the overweight, unathletic troupe of average Joe's recreating the greatest goals in World Cup
history. And David Beckham's.
Job done. Magic Moments FC has ridden to the rescue with their version of some of the greats,
like Maradona in '86 with a slimmed down actor and Bergkamp in '98 (full vids at the site).

A freak goal deserves a freak finish. The match was drifting towards an Arsenal win despite Alex
Song being sent off and Tomas Rosicky blasting his spot kick into the stratosphere when Phil Dowd
decided to grant 15 seconds more to the 4 minutes of stoppage time.
It turned out to be fateful as the hitherto stout defending broke down in a sequence of errors
following Arsenal failing to see off Andy Reid's corner adequately.
There's going to an England game today and if it goes according to plan, Kenny Sansom's record
for the most cap as a full-back will be overtaken by He Who Shall Not Be Named. As I was
saying a couple of days ago, he is probably the best left back we ever had. I won't say the world
as I'm sure Paolo Maldini would be very happy with that statement.
Eduardo is not a legend in the mould of Henry, Bergkamp or Pires. And neither is his legend
Eboue-esque. And yet, you'd have to have an Emotional Quotient equivalent to that of the Terminator
in order for you to have not experienced the onset of severe goosebumps-itis last night.
Saturday will be an extra special day for Sir Alex Ferguson as he celebrates 24 years as Manchester
United boss. Ferguson was appointed on November 6, 1986 and has since established himself as

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands PSV moved three points clear at the top of the eredivisie after playing out
a goalless draw at Ajax. The visitors had the better chances, while Ajax had Rasmus Lindgren sent
off in injury-time after a professional foul on PSV's Wilfred Bouma. A win would have taken
Eindhoven five points ahead of [.
