Man Utd's lone star lacks a strong supporting cast
Forget Liverpool's two-man team it appears than Manchester United have become a one-man
team. (And unless that one man is a 1986 vintage Diego Maradona, it's a dangerous situation.
Are these United stars heading towards the Old Trafford exit?

DIMITAR Berbatov heads a list of United stars who have between now and the end of the
season to save their Old Trafford careers.
The Guardian posted a poll asking its readers whether Manchester United should have
kept Carlos Tevez. A surprising majority said 'yes.' Can this be chalked up to the fickle feelings
of fandom? Or is it sincere affection for the man who scored 37 goals in all competitions while
wearing red?
- Attempting to shift the blame from his players poor performances, Fergie has yet again
critized a match official.
- Ferguson's team selection not as weak as you may think.
Sir Alex has come out yet again and criticized a refereeing decision when his players
performances were ultimately to blame in Manchester United's 0-1 shock loss to Leeds United in the
FA Cup third round.
Even Alex Ferguson acknowledged Leeds were well worthy of their victory (despite bleating on
about stoppage time AGAIN. He sounds like a cantankerous grumbling old grand-dad). This was no
Championship Manager-esque 'team who has twenty shots loses to team who had one'. Beckford made Wes
Brown look far from an England international class defender, which must be worrying for Capello as
he looked a good option to cover at both right back and centre back at the World Cup.
United boss Sir Alex will drop several player's from side that lost in humiliating fashion
at the hands of Leeds when Manchester United meet Manchester City in tomorrow's Carling Cup
semifinal.
One name that is sure of be off is Bulgarian has-been Dimitar Berbatov who has looked
unfocused and disinterested in his last several United matches.
A week after Manchester United's shock FA Cup exit, Sir Alex Ferguson fielded a side with
immense respect for Birmingham City's Alex McCleish at St. Andrews. A match that was 1 of only 2 to
survive the inclement weather on Saturday saw a 4-5-1 with Wayne Rooney in a lone striker role
supported by Ji-sung Park and Antonio Valencia on the wings.
COS Contributor Mark McAllister wonders why the Bulgarian striker appears to have more
detractors by the day.

Dimitar Berbatov and Andrei Arshavin are unquestionably two of the most technically gifted
players in the Premier League.
Jesse Chula is not alone in thinking that the Glazers are a blight on Manchester United's proud
history. It is almost conventional wisdom that the Glazers represent an uncomfortable trend –
wealthy foreign interlopers with more money than passion buying English clubs and, through a
combination of debt and unfamiliarity with the culture of English football, running those teams
into the ground.

Reports today suggest that two of the Premier League big guns will move for 23-year-old Porto
striker Hulk. The Brazilian forward has a rumoured release clause of nearly €100 million but a
more realistic sum of £15-20 million would surely tempt Porto to sell.

Birmingham 1-1 Manchester Utd: Observations
This was another frustrating game in which Manchester United had again salvaged something when
they were in trouble. They hadn't played that well in this encounter, something that has happened
on many occasions this season.
Dimitar sulked after the kitman refused to sew pockets into his shorts
Rumour No.1: Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to put a
number of his star players up for sale in an attempt to rejuvenate his squad in the wake of a
number of stale performances this season, not least the toothless outing against Leeds last
week.
Manchester United's record with Dimitar Berbatov in the starting eleven is 34
points from 13 games. Their record without him is 13 points from nine games. That's 2.6 points per
game with compared to 1.44 points per game without. So much for us slagging off Berba.

I had a feeling the match wouldn't turn out well from the offset; lets just say my choice of
location to watch the encounter at the St Andrew's could have been planned out slightly
better.
If Sir Alex Ferguson was watching the game tonight, there is one thing which will have occupied
his thoughts Carlos Tevez' role as attacking fulcrum at Manchester City.
Tevez' hat-trick tonight made it 14 goals at City this season, which, when compared with Dimitar
Berbatov's 6 really shines the light on Ferguson's decision to buy Berbatov in the first place.

Hey, you know who could use a little Tevez Magic right now? Man Utd. Oh...
The first goal wasn't much to look at, but Tevez's second and third strikes were very cool
finishes.
Regrets, Fergie's had a few. Indeed, if I was a Man Utd fan, I'd find it hard not to resent my
gaffer for the ham-fisted, pig-headed way he forced Carlito out of Old Trafford; Rooney and Tevez
certainly trumps Rooney and Berbatov, Rooney and Owen.
Dimitar Berbatov has never been in the news for being a goal scoring hero since he arrived at
Manchester United. He is only mentioned if he continues to under-perform or meets with an injury.
Currently Berba is going through both these phases and could be out of action for a few weeks.
Berbatov has been attracting the wrath of football pundits for his poor form at Old Trafford.

After Sir Alex Ferguson's comments that he has no regrets over Carlos Tevez leaving, many fans
have compared the Argie's strike rate this season at City with Dimitar Berbatov at United.
It wasn't a case of buying Berbatov or buying Tevez, as the transfer money for Dimitar
had already been paid whilst Tevez was on loan, but the comparisons are made.
We will find out today whether Dimitar Berbatov will miss the rest of the season, with Sir Alex
Ferguson set to confirm whether our striker needs a knee operation. With Bulgaria not travelling to
South Africa this summer for the World Cup, it would have been ideal if we could have kept Berbatov
playing for the rest of the season and scheduled his operation for the end of May.
- Glazer's SOS to Man Utd stars | The Sun |Sport|Football A weird one from the Sun. Which is why
I intend to be wary. It's a bit odd the owners would go, cap in hand so to speak, to the players.
When things start going badly you'll see a deluge of these stories. So best not to get carried
away, and wait and watch.
Carlos Tevez earned Manchester City an ill-deserved victory over Manchester United in the first
leg of the League Cup semifinal but United are still well fancied to progress in the return leg
given their dominance in the majority of the first leg. Both sides have problems and without Tevez
and Rooney both sides would look quite average.
Sol Campbell vs Wayne Rooney will be the definitive battle of the biggest game of the season so
far, and Rooney will be irresistible. The leg injury suffered by Thomas Vermalaen on Wednesday
night at Villa Park will rule him out against the Premier League champions and Campbell will almost
certainly have to start the game and play the full 90 minutes.
Odds of 2.93 (15/8) on a United win away to Arsenal this Sunday? Snap them up now.
That's a great price on a Reds victory, regardless of the opposition or venue.
Look at it this way: we've scored seven goals in our last two fixtures and have already defeated
the Gunners this season. And while we're tearing it up against Hull and City, Arsenal lost 3-1 to
Stoke and drew 0-0 to Aston Villa.
