Manchester United have a fantastic run of fixtures until the end of January, as we have mentioned
before. So it would be no surprise to learn that 9% of teams have persisted with John O'Shea in
their teams defence, despite him not playing in the last 3 weeks. However word from Old Trafford
today is that both O'Shea and Jonny Evans will be out until the New Year.
Who is to blame for the average squad at Anfield.

In light of a few of the articles posted on COS recently, I felt that I should cast a spotlight
upon the inevitable discussion of Liverpool's strength in depth.
COS contributor Donovan Ried ponders life as a Anfield supporter during the up and down
stewardship of Rafa Benitez.

keano's influence tonight will be in the spotlight.
With Pavlyuchenko out of the picture and probably the first player moving this winter transfer
window, eyes now move away from his input in our cup campaign; (which notably last season, included
a spectacular finish against Manchester United).
At the young age of 18, a rival football team trying to get him to sign for them kidnapped Dimitar
Berbatov. At the time Berbatov was playing for CSKA Sofia, after training he was snatched by
three...

FIFA's recent discussions regarding Ireland led me to think about the possibilities of an extra
side at the tournament, and what would perhaps be more exciting than including a side who claimed
they've been cheated out of the tournament would be to enter an entirely new team.
This team would be made up of international players whose respective countries did not manage to
qualify for the finals.
Villa are perhaps not the ideal visitors after a Champions League fixture. However, United
utilised their squad players against Wolfsburg during the week and should not be affected by
fatigue when Villa visit Old Trafford.
Before kicking off with this match preview it is probably a good time to praise United's
make-shift defence.
Manchester United 3-0 Wolverhampton
Wanderers: Match Observations
Wolves had conceded the game before it had even started. This comfortable 3-0 defeat was nothing
short of expected for Mick McCarthy it seems as he had decided to make ten changes to his side,
leaving only the goalkeeper to retain his place.
Rooney was involved in all the goals of the game.He scored the first.A lousy back pass to the
goalkeeper led to Hull getting their equaliser. The remaining two goals of the game from Dawson and
Berbatov also came off passes from Rooney.
Manchester United and Arsenal kept the pressure on Chelsea at the top of England's Premier
League after both recorded easy wins tonight.
Manchester United cut the gap to Chelsea to two points after thrashing Wigan 5-0 for the second
time this season.
United ran riot all night at Old Trafford and the only question was who many would they score.
Feeling nervy about the World Cup draw today? We're on our second manicure and third tequila
shot. The only thing calming our nerves and giving us pleasure is this photo of Dimitar Berbatov
winning Bulgaria's Man Of The Year.
Speaking of the WC draw, conspiracy theories abound.
Christmas list: The Frank Lampard signature gold-plated i-pod.

As you probably noticed, I have not been able to post this past week. For that I apologize, but
much like United, my life became increasingly complicated with garbage which kept me from the
computer. I can't apologize enough, but the good news is that that's the end of that.
I am healthy, and I am back with a vengeance.
Sol Cambell's keen, not too sure if Manchester United are though...
Right now, Manchester United are in the middle of a defensive crisis. But if the rumours are to
be believed that Sol Campbell is to join United then surely Sir Alex should consider
signing Lady Gaga instead.
Dimitar Berbatov has today confessed that he does feel the pressure of £30m price tag which
enabled him to join Manchester United from Spurs.
He reckons the fans have seen some of his best in the year and a half he has been at the club,
although there is more to come.
"The fans have probably seen glimpses of my best goals, passes and games," said
Berbatov.
Dimitar Berbatov was dubbed as "lazy" when he first came to Manchester United. That claim has
slowly started to die down, although there are still plenty of fans who think he slows our attacks
down.
Berbatov has today claimed that he will ignore criticism of his style because he believes it is
important to play with beauty and grace.
Dimitar Berbatov has been at Manchester United for more than a year now but we have not seen his
true class yet! He admits he has only shown "glimpses" of his best form at Old Trafford because he
has struggled with his record £30.75million price tag. Berbatov says he has laboured under the
weight of expectation at being the most expensive player in Manchester United's history.
Manchester United hosted Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League on Tuesday,
December 15, 2009. It was one of several midweek fixtures in the Premiership and a chance for Man U
to respond to their 0-1 defeat to Aston Villa on the weekend. Wolves on the other hand were in good
form after getting a 1-0 win at Tottenham on the weekend.
Following our disappointing performance and result against Aston Villa at the weekend, we were
looking for a reaction on Tuesday night against Wolves.
To learn that Mick McCarthy had made an incredible ten changes to the side that beat Spurs at
the weekend meant this was not just a time for reaction, but to bolster goal difference.
Sometimes in life a single word summarizes what your life is all about and most often that word
is SHIT! Like the recent results of the teams that i support. Not that I am new to it. I've seen
Man Utd concede to players like that Joseph Desire Job but...well! if Rooney is considered to be
our best player, then we'd better go to the Himalayas after giving up earthly pleasures.
News emerged recently suggesting that Ferguson will not spend money in January on another
striker; choosing instead to place his faith in the goalscoring of Berbatov to complement
Rooney's.
The article was quick to pounce on Ferguson's rationale; highlighting ignorant yet pivotal
stats about Dimitar's goalscoring: ‘18 goals in 58 games and just five in his past 28 matches for
the club.
Fulham 3-0 Manchester United: Match Observations
After this showing, question marks will be raised over Manchester United and their hopes of
defending their crown this season. Is it really because United are struggling without Ronaldo or
something else? I have, and still, believed that the Red Devils can win the Premier League title
again this year, despite already suffering our fifth defeat of the campaign, or Chelsea having
another chance to extend their lead at the top of the table.
That sound you hear is United's stuttering attack.
I sat utterly bemused Saturday as I watched Manchester United altogether inept in front of goal
away to their current bogey ground, Craven Cottage. Manchester United lost their second out of the
last three matches and fifth league match of the year to Fulham 3-0, a scoreline that flatters the
current champions as it could have easily been more.
Manchester United have MUTV, Chelsea have Chelsea TV and Liverpool have the History Channel.
This season has been disaster followed by disaster for Liverpool, much to the delight of fans of
other clubs. The opening day defeat to Tottenham proved to be a precursor for the shambles that has
so far unfolded this season.
Like his manager, Wayne Rooney is a publicly revered sportsman, generally beyond reproach from the
English media.
Despite not being the best player in the England side next to a Gerrard or Lampard, he is the most
marketable, and as such, World Cup aspirations are almost solely entrusted upon his swarthy
shoulders.
Manchester United's striker Dimitar Berbatov will undergo knee surgery for a ligament problem which
will rule him out for three months. The Bulgarian footballer has been playing with the ligament
problem for some time now and the surgery seems inevitable now. Though he might decide to avoid the
knife right away but soon the surgery [.
All I want for Christmas is... a fit defence? Well, I'd be disappointed! Despite Rio Ferdinand
insisting that he will be back for the World Cup (glad to see he has got his priorities straight),
it appears as though there isn't actually a return date for our centre back.
Just last week Rio claimed: "The treatment on my injury is going well.
Manchester United edged into the lead against a resilient Hull City side at the KC Stadium.
After a hard fought first half where either side could have and should have scored, with Manchester
United keeper Thomas Kuszczak pulling off the best save of the match, Wayne Rooney cleverly ghosted
in to ram home a Darren Fletcher cross.
lotta in Premier League.
Manchester United managed to close the gap on Chelsea by just two points as they defeated Hull city
1-3 in a Premier League match on Sunday evening. With this win, the table seemed to heat up a bit
and the pressure on leaders Chelsea will mount. Add to this, the Arsenal victory over Aston Villa

"VIDEO: Rooney and Berbatov's Goals Against Hull" was originally published at
The Republik of Mancunia.
Wayne Rooney opened the scoring for Manchester United yesterday, before giving a dreadful
passback to the goalkeeper which resulted in a Hull penalty. Rooney then went on to amend for his
mistake by assisting a further two goals, which Dimitar Berbatov has revealed left the players
claiming Rooney had assisted all of the goals yesterday.
Wayne Rooney: husband, father, footballer, striker, play-maker, defender, captain,
international, the list could really go on, was involved in all four goals (Manchester United only
had 3) Sunday as the reigning champions not-so-impressively beat relegation applicants Hull City at
the KC Stadium.
A flattering and at times thoroughly undeserved 3-1 victory at the KC stadium saw us finally
capitalise on Chelsea's poor recent form as we closed the gap at the top to 2 points. However,
before we get too carried away with the score-line and effect of the result, let's bring a bit
Scrooge's miserly wisdom into the proceeding as we focus briefly, yet solely, on the ‘flattering'
and ‘undeserved' parts.
Hero: Manchester United After an embarrassing loss against Fulham last time out, Manchester United
rallied the wagons and dismantled the struggling Hull City. Wayne Rooney ran rampant, scoring one
and setting up a classy tap-in for Dimitar Berbatov. With a game in hand and Chelsea losing
points against Birmingham, M.
It's not even 1pm and I'm just about to head off to Old Trafford for tonight's game against
Wigan...ahh the joys of being a London red.
But before I set of for the marvellous 5 hour journey through the snowy midlands, I thought I'd
try and highlight a few pointers of how we can, and inevitably should, improve from the Hull game a
couple of days ago.
One of the two matches in the English Premier League on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 was
Manchester United hosting Wigan Athletic. Man United have kept pace with Chelsea and could move
within two points with a win. Wigan on the other hand have been struggling of late and could be in
a fight against relegation if they continue to drop points.
