The Club that loves to buy attacking players so much, is short on strikers. Hilarious..I slept with my Real Madrid Jersey on New Year's Eve as part of my wish for titles this 2011. Today, typing this over my lunch break in my first days back to work from my Holidays in Manila.

What do you get when you cross an eccentric, former footballer turned aspiring actor, with a footy team whose glory years have long since been relegated to the history books? The return of the New York Cosmos?

A new Frenchman has landed in the Big Apple and if past experience is anything to go by, he intends to take the New York Cosmos to the top of the football ladder.

Real Madrid's signing of Emmanuel Adebayor has been as shocking as it is brilliant by Mourinho and co. at The Bernabeu. Since his arrival at the Spanish capital in the summer of 2010, the Portuguese tactician has gone about strengthening areas that needed development bringing in the likes of Angel Di Maria, Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil to name but three players that have arrived in the Spanish capital over the past six months.

EUPHORIA: Kaka's goal, Real's 4th, giving us a 2-goal cushion - meant that all hope was lost for the sunken Yellow Submarine and that the 3 points were all ours..
Real Madrid 4 – Villarreal 2. What a match! There are very few matches that get people to talk up the possibility of having an attractive and utterly competitive game and actually live up to it: Last Night's encounter was one of those few times.

Hunting with a CatHow fitting was it that before I last Sunday's 2am (Singapore Time) match between Real Madrid and Villarreal, I had been watching a documentary at Nat Geo about the pack hunting methods of mountain lions. The documentary showed their different methods (Ambush, Blitz and Seige) to take down various prey that included a Zebra, some form of Antelope and even a full grown Giraffe!

It's always difficult to assess a game like this since Birmingham really didn't show up today. It would be too easy to look at the scoreline and assume it was a first class display.

We struggled to put in a decent performance against them at St Andrews a few weeks ago. Yet, today at OT, we looked brilliant largely because they were poor and invited the pressure on themselves from the get go.

This was probably Benzema's most decisive Real Madrid goal to date.
.So it seems we are heading for a period of stretched resources for Real Madrid. Given our knack for early exits in the Copa Del Rey in the last few seasons (coupled with the ridiculous justification of ‘it helps with our La Liga campaign), we now find ourselves playing a game every 3 days for the month of January.

It was just a matter of time. Mourinho was unhappy at Real Madrid, and the Portuguese had been whining consistently for a center-forward after Gonzalo Higuain's back injury. Emmanuel Adebayor didn't fit into Roberto Mancini's plans at Manchester City, especially considering that Manchester City went out and bought Edin Dzeko in this mid-season transfer window.
