Mere hours after some kind of sick swan ran amok at Old Trafford, a rather glum-looking Wayne
Rooney celebrated his 26th birthday at Wings restaurant in Manchester with guests including
friends, relatives, colleagues and several of the chaps that had just tarred and feathered his arse
in the Manchester derby namely Joe Hart and Gareth Barry.

With the lack of transfer activity at Spurs so far, and so much speculation regarding Luka
Modric and our pursuit of strikers, it's been difficult to focus on the approaching season and
assess how we can improve.
Following our first taste of Champions League football last season, Spurs fans know that this
side can compete at a higher level, and obviously everyone's desperate to bring those special
nights back to the Lane.
'What? Nothing to see here folks. Please keep it moving.'
Joining our ever-growing roster of 'Drunk Off Their Ass' listees is Miss Kimberley Mills,
girlfriend of Tottenham's David Bentley. Welcome hon!
Mills (plus her beau and Gareth Barry) were just three of the numerous patrons who had to flee
London's Whiskey Mist night club Sunday night after a bloody brawl broke out.

According to John Curtis at The Independent, Birmingham have agreed to sign
Tottenham winger David Bentley on loan for the rest of the
season. Bentley, who was linked with Newcastle, will undergo a medical this weekend.
It is also reported that Birmingham have agreed on a transfer fee for Rangers
striker Kenny Miller.

Sunday saw its usual share of transfer tabloid rumours and for Spurs, outside of the Beckham
story, there were many names linked with both the entrance and exit door.

Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias arrived at Newcastle's training ground by helicopter yesterday to
discuss the club's transfer priorities with manager Alan Pardew. Pardew's main targets were
allegedly Seb Larsson and David Bentley but both of these players seem destined to play their

Man Utd hardman Patrice Evra slams into David Bentley with the force of a charging rhino
(maybe). Bentley is a broken man.
Evra is a modern marvel. Hardly ever gets injured, hardly ever gives less than a 7/10 display.
We take his excellence for granted.
Could the exit door have the name of Jermaine Jenas written on it by the end of the transfer
window?
While many have expected a mini exodus of Spurs' midfielders this month, JJ wasn't reckoned to
be one of them, but with Aston Villa suddenly finding the money they denied Martin O'Neill, they
have supposedly asked Tottenham to ‘name their price'.
It's maybe not surprising that some areas of the media are questioning the official explanation
for Heurelho Gomes' absence from the Spurs squad last night. Tottenham have said that the Brazilian
was suffering from a back injury and while we wouldn't want to question that statement, others have
hinted at a smokescreen.
Chairman Daniel Levy may well be looking to streamline the Tottenham squad this summer but it
looks increasingly like he will have a problem trying to offload David Bentley.
Birmingham's relegation to the championship looks set to see Bentley return to Tottenham but
the club's drop to the second tier may just have made Alex McLeish's decision that much easier.

Morning to you,
another week begins with much on the horizon but little concrete info to kick us off. There's
the much vaunted signing of Gervinho, a possible defensive arrival, or two, the manager's transfer
budget apparently boosted by some property dealing, and the inevitable departures/stayings of one
or two.
So the unthinkable now seems inevitable, and Chelsea will probably get their man.
It pains me to say this, as I really do believe that Luka Modric is irreplaceable. Having
watched the little maestro dictate the play of games at the Lane on many occasions, it's
understandable why Spurs don't want to sell the Croatian international and it he will certainly be
a great asset to an ageing Chelsea squad.
There are lots of rumours this morning that Spurs will be making an official bid for Blackburn
Rovers defender Christopher Samba. In fact, some even claim that a bid is already in.
There is, as you would expect, some dispute over the amount involved and whether Tottenham are
offering Steve Kean's side any players in return.

Taking a leaf straight out of the Stephen Ireland playbook (which is always dangerous at the
best of times) Stefan Savic has had his Bentley Continental sprayed Man City blue, though sadly
chose to pass on the pink hubcaps...
Tasteful.
It's been an unhappy stay at Aston Villa for Jermaine Jenas and after waiting to make his debut
for the Midlands side, news has been confirmed that he is likely to out for the rest of the
season.
The announcement on Tottenham's official club website reads,
‘Jermaine Jenas has undergone surgery to his left Achilles tendon and is likely to miss the
rest of the season, but should return for the start of pre-season.
Blinking heck, that was dashed hard work – to which end our vanquished opponents deserve
credit, while we can also direct sneers of ill-disguised derision at those fools who suggested
beforehand that while there is no such thing as an easy game in the Premiership, if there were then
Fulham at home would probably be it.

Around ten days ago I mused that I would have settled for eight points from our four
Christmas-New Year games. Three games in and we already have nine, which means that the riotously
good fun continues into 2011 – still not yet out of the title race, most definitely still in the
Top Four race and looking down upon the rotters from Stamford Bridge, languishing beneath us.
Ah, Everton. A team I should have some fondness for because they've got noisy neighbours like us
and while I was growing up for some reason most of my friends wore their blue and pretended they
were Neville Southall or Tony Cottee, but I don't. It annoys me how they go from one season to the
next flitting between challenging for Europe or escaping relegation.
According to Sky Sports News, Newcastle are interested in signing
Tottenham midfielder David Bentley. This month Tottenham have
been looking to sell the 26-year-old as oppose to loaning him out.
Bentley has already attracted the interest of Fulham, West
Ham, and Aston Villa so far.

Forgotten Tottenham midfielder David Bentley has joined Birmingham until the
end of the season on loan.
Bentley a £15m buy in 2008 has failed to hold down a regular first team place
at White Hart Lane since his move from Blackburn almost two and a half years ago hopes the move can
get him into the reckoning for an England re-call amongst other things.
According to Birmingham's official website, Birmingham have completed the
signing of Tottenham winger David Bentley on loan for the rest of
the season.
The unarguably talented David Bentley has joined Birmingham City on loan until the end of the
season. Capped by his country, the former Arsenal youngster has shown promise in the past but has
not lived up to the expectations placed on his shoulders. I am confident in saying in fact that
Bentley will be frustrated that he hasn't lived up to his own expectations.

Pies presents: David Bentley's entire, two-and-a-half-year Tottenham career
summed up in 17 seconds...
After contributing the sum total of (almost) diddly-squat to the Spurs cause during his 29
months at White Hart Lane, £15 million-man Bentley has finally left North London for pastures new
joining Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season after passing a medical at St Andrews
on Tuesday.
Amidst all the transfer speculation, some concrete news has finally broken out with confirmation
of David Bentley's loan to Birmingham until the end of the season.
Bentley arrived at White Hart Lane with a huge price tag in July 2008. Despite some misgivings
amongst the Spurs fans, he enjoyed a great pre-season and turned in some decent performances in the
league, culminating in his outrageous goal in the 4-4 at The Emirates.
David Bentley wasted his time with Arsenal, Norwich, Blackburn, Tottenham and England –
Birmingham City may now find that joke isn't funny anymore.
Loan star David Bentley made his mark on his new manager Alex McLeish in the 1-1 with local
rivals Aston Villa on Sunday.
Speaking on the club's official website McLeish said: "He was excellent. I thought he had a
really good game."
The Blues' manager was concerned over Bentley's lack of recent action and had implied that he
would be watching him in the second half to see if he faded, but claimed that the on-loan winger
replied: "Don't take me off I've got a chance of playing 90 minutes.
In a departure from what some may have expected, this FA Cup tie between Birmingham City and
Coventry City turned into a goal fest. The home side clawed back from a two-goal deficit to end up
the victors, 3-2.
Starting Formations
BIRMINGHAM FORM: For a side who has been busy in both the League as well as making the Carling
Cup final, it wasn't surprising to see them rest some starters.
On 1 February 2006, Blackburn winger David Bentley scored the first Premier League hat-trick
against Manchester United as Rovers won 4-3. The match was Bentley's first as an official Blackburn
player he signed with them the day before after spending the first half of the season with them on
loan from Arsenal.
One down, seven to go - the dream of a run of eight consecutive League wins remains, at least
within this particularly deluded little mind. This afternoon's task will not be easy - Bolton
outdid us on their patch earlier in the season, and in Kevin Davies have precisely the sort of
striker whose presence makes me shudder from my Park Lane vantage point.
Joey Barton has been one of Newcastle's best payers this seaosn, and has also been fit so far this
season. Joey Barton challenges David Bentley last night Joey of course had a difficult first three
seasons on Tyneside, when he played only 47 times with 3 goals, but this seaosn the lad has played
26 [.
