Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that there were many positives to come out of his
side's crushing 4-1 defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday. The manager insists that it was an excellent
chance to give new signing Sandro his debut, and it also allowed fringe players such as David
Bentley a chance to get some playing time.
If you had asked any Spurs fan what type of player we needed to sign this summer, the majority
would have said that we could do with a striker.
Instead we bought a reserve goalkeeper, an ex-Gooner defender, a defensive midfielder and most
impressively of all, Rafael van der 'bloody' Vaart.
Don't say this to Harry's face, but the "Wheeler and Dealer" springs yet another surprise, much
to the delight of the Spurs faithful. On deadline day, despite Redknapp's claims to the contrary,
he ended up completing a magnificent piece of business. Or did he? Given the system often used by
Redknapp and the plethora of midfielders (especially Central Midfielders) already at his disposal,
was the signing of Rafael Van der Vaart really necessary?

After that thrilling 2-2 draw in Bremen, we might need to switch things around on Saturday, both
to refresh the team and to cope with injuries.
Harry has reported that Rafael van der Vaart is a doubt after being substituted on Tuesday,
while Luka Modric is also struggling. Definitely out are Heurelho Gomes and of course, Michael
Dawson and Jermain Defoe.
Anyone who took a cursory look at the score of this game would have thought it to be a pretty
comprehensive win, but anyone who actually watched the match would know otherwise.
A defensive Wolves frustrated us for most of the match, just as Manchester City and Wigan have
done at White Hart Lane.
Who needs the Carling Cup? We do and judging by the team Wenger put out last night he feels it
wouldn't be a bad thing to not completely dismiss it this season. It was meant to be our youngsters
with a few reserves thrown in against their's but what we got was Wenger playing half his 1st 11
and the rest youngsters.
