Benoit Assou Ekotto isn't your typical footballer. He's a straight talking, grounded and decent
bloke who just happens to be a footballer. You won't see Benny kissing the Spurs badge or
declaring his love for the club any time soon, he openly admits football is just a job to him, and
Tottenham Hotspur, nothing more than his employer.
The Tottenham left back slot. Brave men have tried but few have succeeded in the mountainous task
of making it their own and earning praise. Erik Edman had a valiant crack at it in 2004/05 but his
efforts weren't deemed acceptable, even despite that 40 yard cracker at Anfield. No matter who the
incumbent is, there always seems to be universal debate over his suitability to the role.

Benny has been discussed in recent months on this blog, after he was criticised by Alan Hansen and
after the Daily Mail interview a few weeks back, so there's little need to further analyse this
latest offering.

Despite their footballing talents, Kaboul quickly realised he wasn't exactly in the company of
great beautyWhere this blog is from, three wins on the spin, including two away from home and one
against a team being billed as top four elect, is pretty good going. Especially when you consider
the depths from where this winning streak has been born from.
Following my original article singing Benny's praises as a footballer and all round good egg, he
continues to impress me no end. Assou Ekotto is a complete breath of fresh air in today's game.
This week he's been "rewarding inspirational teenagers" where more than 70 young people received
their Educational Achievement Awards from the man himself at a special ceremony at White Hart Lane
as part of a joint initiative between Haringey Council and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.

having some sort of surgery, Assou-Ekotto has also revealed to the world he'll not be travelling to
Russia either.
While it may not be a massive shock that Benny isn't playing against Rubin with most of the first
team squad likely to be rested, he is surely going to kop some flak from management for revealing
team news via twitter?

Assou-Ekotto. Coolest Mo-Fo In Football Right Spurs fans. This has gone on long enough. Benny has
been with us for over 5 years now. Sure, he had a bit of a mixed start, but now he's one of, it not
the best left back in the league. The partnership he's formed with Bale on the left wing,
arguably also gives us one of, if not
the best left wing in the league.
