*If, like me, you were unable to watch the Desert Diamond Cup opener Wednesday between the Galaxy
and Revolution on your iPad/smartphone because the MLS stream apparently doesn't support mobile
devices, check out the highlights below. Benny Feilhaber's smooth bicycle kick just 90 seconds in
got things started, while Edson
Our friends over at New England Soccer Today are once again flexing their muscles and showing
off their superior sources, and today's piece does not disappoint. Few people were probably
expecting Monsef Zerka to return this season, but most were operating under the assumption that the
front office was at least making some attempt to bring him back at a reduced salary.
Jϋrgen Klinsmann has chosen 21 players to represent the United States against Italy on February
29th in Genoa. After putting together a squad that consisted mostly of U.S.-based players in
January, Klinsi is clearly taking a different approach for this match, with just four MLS players
in the team this time around.
The New England Revolution continued their preseason schedule on Friday afternoon with 3-0
scrimmage victory over Boston College at Gillette Stadium. Rookie Kelyn Rowe led the Revs with two
goals in the win.
The Revs started the match with most of their veterans on the pitch. Matt Reis started in goal
with Chris Tierney, A.
Alec Purdie and Shalrie Joseph scored as the New England Revolution defeated Boston College,
2-1, on Wednesday afternoon.
Purdie opened the scoring in the 28th minute, but the Eagles equalized just five minutes later
thanks to some sloppy defensive play by the Revs. Joseph would score the winner seven minutes into
the second half.

Those familiar with seeing Shalrie Joseph pushing forward and becoming heavily involved in the
attack may see less of it in 2012, depending on the New England Revolution captain's midfield
partner.
First-year head coach Jay Heaps brings his energy and competitiveness to a New England
Revolution team looking forward to an improved 2012. Midfielders Shalrie Joseph, Benny Feilhaber &
Kelyn Rowe, and defender AJ Soares talk about how Heaps is already making an impact.
Benny Feilhaber scored an acrobatic, bicycle kick goal to open the scoring while Jeremiah White
secured the game-winner as the Revolution triumphed over the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2 during the
first game of the Desert Diamond Cup on Wednesday night.
Feilhaber's stunning shot in the second minute gave the Revolution the early advantage while
John Lozano nodded New England's next goal in the 36th minute.

The last time the New England Revolution scored three goals in a winning effort came 10 months
ago in a 3-2 victory over Sporting Kansas City.
Last night, the New England Revolution kicked off the preseason Desert Diamond Cup tournament in
style with a thrilling 3-2 win over reigning the reigning MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy.
Benny Feilhaber scored a stunning bicycle kick to open the floodgates, and goals from John Lozano
and Jeremiah White canceled out efforts from Edson Buddle and Mike Magee to mark the first time the
Revs have scored three goals in a winning effort against MLS competition since that fated match
against Sporting KC early last season.
Jurgen Klinsmann announced Thursday the 21-man roster forSome notable exclusions from the list are
Kyle Beckermen, Sacha Kljestan, Benny Feilhaber, DaMarcus Beasley, Tim Ream, Herculez Gomez, Edgar
Castillo, and Ricardo Clark. Oguchi Onyewu hurt his knee last weekend playing for his club team and
missed the squad.

flexibility in his lineup decisions. (Photo: Chris Aduama/aduama.com)
One frequently mentioned change by both the players and coaching staff under new head coach Jay
Heaps is the planned use of video to help break down opponents.

The700Level wonders whether any of the Union's announcements at their recent town hall meeting
will win back fans who were put off by the Sebastien Le Toux saga.
The team for Ghana's friendly against Chile at PPL Park will arrive on Monday, February 27.
It's no secret that rookie Kelyn Rowe has been in impressive form so far this pre-season, but
after last night we may be able to label him as certifiably on fire. The former UCLA product
scored two goals late against the Red Bulls to elevate the Revolution to the top of the Diamond Cup
standings.
