Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez may be on the football scrapheap at the moment but is
certainly not forgotten by Manchester United icon Sir Alex Ferguson who had no hesitation in

Jamie Carragher has come out this morning and said he is happy with the return of former striker
Craig Bellamy. He believes Bellamy can be more influential this spell.
Bellamy signed a two year deal with Liverpool on deadline day and returns to the club he left
four years ago. He was sold after only one season by Rafa Benitez to bring in additional funds
after scoring 9 goals.
In the second article of this ongoing analysis, I compare Liverpool's wage-spend with Arsenal's
over the last 10 years.
Liverpool vs. Man United - Wage Spend Comparison - 2000-2010
NOTES
* Below is an example of how the figures are presented in the accounts:
* The wages and salary figure includes all staff connected with the club.
When Rafa Benitez signed Glen Johnson in 2009, I argued at the time that it was a mistake to spend
such a large amount of money on a player that Liverpool (arguably) didn't need. Given the
catastrophic failure of the two seasons he has been at Anfield, I'm struggling to see what
specific, measurable impact Johnson has had on the team, and how he fits into the 'new' Liverpool
under Kenny Dalglish.
It's 28 games in charge now for Kenny Dalglish in his second managerial spell at Anfield. Things
have massively improved since he took over but how does Dalglish's impact compare with that of Rafa
Benitez in his first 28 games in charge?
In a recent article, I compared Dalglish's and Roy Hodgson's first 27 games.
Colorado Springs sides faced some extra work on Sunday, as the Mountain Lion men faced a
naitonal power from Texas, while the women went into overtime against a side from Kansas.
For the men, a pair of penalty kicks was too much to overcome as Colorado Colorado Springs was
beaten 2-0 by the No.
Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has criticised the effectiveness of the club's training methods,
arguing that game-preparation in the Bundesliga is superior, which he believes had led to him being
fitter than he ever was at Anfield.
In an interview with De Telegraaf, Babel observed:
"I think I've had really benefited from the move to the Bundesliga.
Why Liverpool's defeat at Stoke convinced me the Reds are on the road back to
greatness
The Britannia Stadium has been something of a graveyard for Liverpool managers in recent
seasons. Rafa Benitez's one chance of a title shot was buried there, and Roy Hodgson's Reds career
ended six feet under Stoke's Flandrian fields.
Glen Johnson suffered a hamstring injury on his return to first team action against Stoke at the
weekend, and will reportedly spend the next month on the sidelines. Ordinarily, you would think
that the continued loss of an £18m defender would cause serious problems, but in Johnson's case,
it's arguably a blessing in disguise.

Valencia is sailing in uncharted waters are they're sitting at the top of La
Liga, a position they've struggled to conquer since the glorious Ranieri and Benitez days.
Yesterday marked Dalglish's 30th game in charge since taking over last January. The side's record
over that span is 15W-6D-9L. How does that compare with previous bosses?
Read the hexagonal diagrams from left to right, in rows of six. Just to make things confusing.
Linearity isn't really the point anyway.
One of the management principles in which I strongly believe is the merit system: if someone is
playing well, you continue to play them. It's simple, and seems to make sense, but in recent years,
that policy has been regularly ignored. Hopefully, Kenny Dalglish will employ the merit system with
his team selection today.

It seems nothing can stop FC Dallas' current free fall.
Having been beaten in its last three games, Dallas was once again on the losing end on Wednesday
night, falling 5-3 on the road to Panamanian club Tauro FC in a wild CONCACAF Champions League
match that saw three red cards and two penalty kicks.
