Everton boss David Moyes has claimed on the Times Game podcast that S'Alex Ferg was right to
criticise Rafa's American paymasters for their treatment of the Spaniard. Moyes said: "I thought it
was tremendous that Sir Alex Ferguson came out and said the things supporting Rafa and in a way had
a [.
Hicks: We spoke with Klinsmann
Unacceptable.
I've been hesitant to pile onto the owners, partly because I hadn't been convinced that all the
fears were valid and partly because I want to see the Americans do well by Liverpool. Now there's
no way not to. This is utterly embarrassing to the club, and Benitez deserves far, far better.
As per usual, I try to say as little as possible about transfers before they're completed, but with
article after article speculating over the future of Javier Mascherano, I feel the need to chime
in.
The Mascherano signing is the canary in the mineshaft for this club. It will be more of a
bellwether about new owners' priorities and capabilities than anything we've seen so far.
Liverpool's legendary striker Ian Rush has told the Sun that he thinks that Rafa's American
paymasters George Gillett and Tom Hicks have turned the club into a laughing stock. Yesterday
George Gillett let the cat out of the bag and admitted that they had sounded out Jurgen Klinsmann
as a contingency in case Rafa [.
The Observer today brings us an "exclusive" - which, as exclusives go, gets us a little bit more
hot under the collar than your average tabloid "exclusive". According to Observer journos Duncan
Castles and Richard Wachman, Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks could be forced to sell
Liverpool because they are having "difficulties [.
THERE was a time when Liverpool FC washed its laundry in private. Now, the club's bosses do
it in the most public way imaginable. It's difficult to choose the worst culprit out of
Hicks, Gillett and Benitez. The Yanks probably edge it. Revelations that Hicks tapped up Jurgen
Klinsmann as a possible replacement for Rafa in November will further distance him and co-owner
Gillett from the fans who generally still have faith in the tempermental, stubborn Spaniard.
The Daily Telegraph reckons that Rafa Benitez was so gobsmacked by Tom Hicks' admission that he had
sounded out Jurgen Klinsmann, that he is now considering suing their socks off. Telegraph journo
David Bond writes: "Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is understood to be considering whether to sue
the club's co-owner Tom Hicks after [.
The Daily Mail reports that the Lord of the Ferg's cold heart has thawed at the thought of
Liverpool's sadistic slavedrivers American paymaster's having their way with poor Rafa Benitez. The
Fergster said of the Klinsmann malarkey: "That was a bad piece of business on Liverpool's part.
That sort of thing can be [.
So Skrtel passed his medical and it seems he'll be rubber-stamped sometime today. [Liverpool Echo]
[BBC]
It's not Mascherano putting pen to paper, and everything I wrote on Friday still holds, but at
£6.5m, this will be Liverpool's most expensive signing in defense.
It is also a position where Liverpool needed strengthening before the injuries to Agger and then
Hyypia, and probably had to do it during this transfer period.
The Daily Mail reckons that Liverpool bosses Gillett and Hicks are set to bering in Teutonic coach
Jurgen Klinsmann to Anfield. Now that couldn't have anything to do with the fact that Klinsmann
lives in California, speaks English with an American accent, and is far more personable that
perneially grumpy Rafa now could [.
Naturally, a little more than 12 hours after I post something about my confusion over refinancing
et al, they announce it's completed. Unsurprisingly, Hicks has also released the new stadium
designs at the same time. Yes, we're all just blinded by shiny objects and forget what was
bothering us before we saw them.
The Daily Mail is gleefully hollering about the "inside" information that it has on Jurgen
Klinsmann and the rumours that he was being tracked by Liverpool. Klinsmann is now comfortably
ensconsed in the Bayern Munich fold - set to take control at the end of the season, but the Mail
reckons that Liverpool [.
Various newsgroups are reporting that DIC (Dubai International Capital) are rustling up a
£500million bid to take Liverpool Football club away from dastardly duo George Gillett and Tom
Hicks. Whereas all the talk a few weeks ago was of how untenable Rafa's position was becoming, it
now looks like Gillett and Hicks will [.
It looks like Gillett and Hicks' American Dream of riding into Liverpool and turning them into
title winners has now turned into an American nightmare punctuated by increasingly poor management
of the media. The Guardian reports that one of the main isssues was: "Gillett having been enraged
by his co-chairman's admission that they [.
RAFA feels he's a victim of unfriendly fire from the Yanks. The Yanks clearly don't rate
Rafa. Not surprising, the way he's behaved. Now, the players are blaming off-the-pitch distractions
for poor performances and poor results. Of course, there's elements of truth concealed
within all this insecurity.
TOMORROW morning, before his eyes are fully open, Jack will ask how the Reds got on against
the Hammers tonight. I'll stand on the botton rung of his bunk bed ladder and explain to
him that despite the euphoric victory over mighty Havant and Waterlooville at the weekend,
Liverpool couldn't continue their winning form against West Ham tonight.
