After months of delays and rumors, the speculation over Arsene Wenger's future has finally ended as
the Arsenal manager is understood to have reached an agreement with our board of directors. The
deal will tie him to Arsenal until the end of the 2010/11 season and will see Wenger making £4
million a year. Wenger had earlier hinted that he would come out about his future some time this
week, and
RAFA Benitez couldn't lose tonight's League Cup clash against Reading. After
resting, dropping or simply not picking Fernando Torres for Saturday's 0-0 draw against Birmingham
at Anfield, the Reds manager got some flak. Quite right. It was a bad mistake which could cost
Liverpool dear. Time will tell.
I have to admit I was quite surprised to see Torres start in the Carling Cup tie with Reading on
Tuesday and I would be quite surprised to see him start tomorrow at the JJB after only three days
rest. Last year we made mince meat of the Lactics with a 4-0 victory there, but that was as we were
making our strong push up the EPL ladder and the best player for us that day was Craig Bellamy.
