THE word on the street is that Rafa is getting into gangster rap. The new goatee
is the first part of his image transformation. By the kick-off to the new season he will be donning
a yellow shellsuit (there's plenty of them in Liverpool) and sporting yellow tinted shades and a
woolly swimming cap. His debut album - 'Is it 'cos I is Spanish?
By 1970's Gooner The bookies, as to be expected, have installed Man Utd as favourites to win the
title again followed closely by Chelsea. Liverpool are priced at half of Arsenal's odds and the
rest, especially Spurs, are really nowhere. These are prices quoted at the time of writing this
post. Man Utd 11/8 Stan James Chelsea 7/4 Sporting Odds Liverpool 6/1 Betfred Arsenal 12/1 Blue

FORGET England, let's get on with the Premier League. Who's Rafa going to pick this weekend
against Newcastle? Well, after a relatively poor 7 out of 11 against Fulham the other
week, I'm feeling more confident with my predicted line-up against Newcastle.
If Liverpool are to once again make it to the Champions League final, they'll have to do it the
hard way after being drawn against Inter Milan in the last 16. The Reds have reached two of the
last three European Cup finals, although the Serie A league leaders represent a formidable obstacle
to their [.
For the love of Robbie Fowler it looks as if Rafa has seen the light. In this article, it is
revealed that Rafa is looking to dump the useless striker in the January window due to Crouch's
attitude towards the gaffer's rotation policy and his recent dreadful performance versus Marseilles
where he was clearly a detriment to our side.
Can today get any better?
I guess I'll just get the regrettable bit out of the way. Over the last couple of days we've had a
very strange press conference from Rafa, a heavy-handed ultimatum from Gillett and Hicks, and a
mountain of media speculation. I never want to read too much into these things, but every outlet
has carried the same narrative, and the original article was by Tony Barrett, who's easily the best
Liverpool writer around.
After months of delays and rumors, the speculation over Arsene Wenger's future has finally ended as
the Arsenal manager is understood to have reached an agreement with our board of directors. The
deal will tie him to Arsenal until the end of the 2010/11 season and will see Wenger making £4
million a year. Wenger had earlier hinted that he would come out about his future some time this
week, and
RAFA Benitez couldn't lose tonight's League Cup clash against Reading. After
resting, dropping or simply not picking Fernando Torres for Saturday's 0-0 draw against Birmingham
at Anfield, the Reds manager got some flak. Quite right. It was a bad mistake which could cost
Liverpool dear. Time will tell.
I have to admit I was quite surprised to see Torres start in the Carling Cup tie with Reading on
Tuesday and I would be quite surprised to see him start tomorrow at the JJB after only three days
rest. Last year we made mince meat of the Lactics with a 4-0 victory there, but that was as we were
making our strong push up the EPL ladder and the best player for us that day was Craig Bellamy.
The biggest talking point following Saturday's match, outside of Mark Clattenburg, was the 71st
minute substitution of Steven Gerrard for Lucas, who had yet to play a single minute of Premier
League action.
In retrospect, it was the right move. The game was tied 1-1 when Gerrard exited. The game finished
2-1. Lucas was heavily involved, setting up an excellent chance for Voronin in the 77th minute, and
taking the cool, composed shot in injury time that Phil Neville had to handle to prevent a goal.
RAFA Benitez is about as predictable as Sven Goran Eriksson's next celebrity
conquest. I logged on to fantasyrafa.com to see if I could outfox the Spanish enigma and
correctly predict his team for the Fulham match at Anfield. Hmmm... what changes would The
Stubborn One make from the midweek thrashing of Besiktas?
Well, I got a proper second watching of this one, so I feel as if I have a reasonable grip upon
what occurred. First off, I think the play that best represented Everton's effort was Phil
Neville's intentional handball/red card/penalty in the 90th minute. The Toffees were feisty,
physical, and clearly looking to do whatever they could to gain advantage.
TOUCHLINE Dad turned pundit at the start of the season with previews for both Liverpool and
Everton. Of course, making predictions is a surefire way of making a fool of yourself. So,
how are the predictions doing? Alternatively, how big a fool am I?
I can't believe we've gotten this far, where I actually feel the need to write this, but anyone who
believes that Rafa Benitez should be sacked needs to have their head sorted out immediately,
whatever their nationality.
I don't know where this "crisis" came from. I don't know why this is hitting the papers now.
The Sun's intrepid journalistic duo, Shaun Custis and Phil Thomas, have used their combined
brain-power and somehow got the idea that Liverpool's Rafa Benitez will be on his way out at the
end of the season - to be replaced by Jurgen Klinsmann. The 'evidence' for such mind-blowing
investigative journalism?
