Here's a trick that even mad Jens might think about twice before trying. The Mozambique goalie in
the game against Benin in the ANC demonstrates a fairly lunatic way of collecting the
ball..
Mozambique and Benin played out a very entertaining draw in their first matches of the African
Nations Cup.

Earlier Soccer City FC posted on the possibility of Liverpool's Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina and
Glen Johnson all heading out the door during the January transfer market.
Now, Italian online media report that Liverpool may target 26-year-old Paris Sanit-Germain
midfielder Stephane Sessegnon.
The host country is Angola and the mascot looks a bit like Drogba when he is in a good mood.Since
the first African Cup of Nations tournament was held in Sudan in 1957, host countries have failed
to reach at least the semi-finals on only four occasions so Angola have that bit of history to deal
with.
So here we are in 2010, a year that will again provide us with another month of top quality
entertainment, our eyes stuck to the screen as we see great names perform to the highest levels of
peak perfection until there can be left just one standing at the final whistle.........my money is
on Vinnie Jones.
The mighty Egypt - but all is not well with the champions...
Group C
Benin - Egypt - Mozambique - Nigeria
Benin
Ever since Benin qualified for the Under-20 World Cup back in 2005, the national team has been on a
steady upward spiral. Back then The Squirrels were ranked 125th in the world and had only ever
qualified for one African Cup of Nations in which they fell at the group stage.
Group C – Benin, Egypt, Nigeria, Mozambique
Benin
Not a lot of people have heard of Benin and less have seen it, the gaff is tiny and the squad is
tinier but they definitely have the best nickname, The Squirrals! Most of the ickle Benin team make
Shaun Wright Phillips look like Crouchy on stilts.
Simple question and yet such a complicated answer:
- The bookies say it's going to be the on-paper favorite Ivory Coast.
- History says it will be Egypt, two-time defending champions.
- Your gut says it won't be either.
Then who will it be?
Everything, at least right now, points to two teams: Ghana & Ivory Coast.
It's right around the corner, you know. And by 'right around the corner', we mean that quite
literally: turn the corner of this week into next week and you're there. The first game kicks off
Sunday evening when tournament hosts Angola take on Mali.
So with time at a premium, let's get right down to ten things you need to know for the African
Cup of Nations.
Jogaram amistosamente no dia 06-01-2010, na cidade de Cotonou no Benin, como preparação para a
Copa Africana de Nações, as seleções do Benin (59º no ranking da FIFA) e a seleção da Líbia
(115º no ranking da FIFA).
Antes desse jogo, as 2 seleções jogaram:

Aos 19 minutos do primeiro tempo, Stephane Sessegnon, fez o único gol da partida, para a seleção
do Benin.
Con drama de por medio por el atentado que sufrió la Selección de Togo, que
dicho sea de paso no participará en esta competición, el día de mañana 10 de
Enero arranca la Copa Africana de Naciones en su edición
2010 con cede en Angola.
Mozambique benefit from generous goalkeeping Benin goalie Yoann Djidonou had already blown his
side's two-goal cushion over Mozambique by getting nowhere near a corner when this happened. The
keeper charged out of his area to blast the ball into touch only to find the multi-ball system had
turned his decision into a balls-up.
Entertaining game, this, featuring two of the best teams on show in Angola. Chinedu Obasi put
Nigeria in front after 12 minutes, but Egypt equalised when a goalkeeping error let Emad Moteab
poke the ball into an empty net. A deflected Ahmed Hassan shot put the holders ahead, before a
fine long-range strike from sub Gedo Nagy completed the comeback.
Everyone knows about Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba and Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o. The superstars of
African football. Most will know about Mali's Fredi Kanoute and Seydou Keita too. You don't need
WorldCupBlog to tell you about them. So we thought we'd compile a list of 10 players to watch at
the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, featuring talented youngsters and other players with slightly lower
profiles than those listed above.
Well we all know how the competition started but the tournament kicked off in earnest on Sunday
evening with the host nation Angola entertaining Mali. Hopes were high after all the political
wrangling that engulfed the weekend, football could return to the forefront. What no-one expected
was a series of breathless games and major shocks that have turned the Cup Of Nations on its
head.
Yakubu scored the only goal of the game to see Nigeria defeat Benin.

Now that's what I call a tournament mascot. I don't need modern interpretations of peace,
harmony and good will like the dreadful trio that South Korea and Japan gave us in 2002. Dreadful
mascots and a dreadful tournament. I want giant animals or characters that can play football or
playing football.

also in many parts of Africa, Asia, and North America. Some of the best French-Speaking players
were not born in France.
