Freddy Adu is closing in on another career stop, and it doesn't appear to be in Major League
Soccer.
According to Yanks Abroad, Adu is on trial with FC Ingolstadt 04, the same 2. Bundesliga club
that employs American Amaechi Igwe.
The club's Web site confirms that Adu is scheduled to be with the team, which is taking part in
its winter training camp in Turkey, through Sunday.

American midfielder Freddy Adu's long and winding path through Europe has taken him to
Turkey.
According to Richard Motzkin, his agent, Adu is set to move to Turkish second division club
Rizespor on loan. Portuguese club Benfica, which bought Adu from Real Salt Lake in 2007, still owns
Adu's contract.
Unsurprisingly, cash-gorged Manchester City have dominated the footballing transfer market in
2010, shunting a combined total of somewhere up around the €350 million mark in fees and
transfers into the global market between January 1st and the present day as owner Sheikh
Mansour continues to feed his foray into capitalism on a gargantuan scale.
We're not there yet, but we certainly are approaching full strength, with the top three leagues
in the world all in action this week. The top matches of the week include Wednesday's match between
Manchester City and Arsenal and Sunday's matches between Real Madrid/Villarreal and
Napoli/Juventus.
Benfica have completed their first move of the January transfer season, securing the acquisition of

3 goals in 39 appearances for Racing.Fernandez also earned his first cap for Argentina when he made
an appearance against Haiti.

In the Daily Mail is the continued rumours that involve Chelsea's reported interest in Benfica's
Brazilian Defender, David Luiz. We all know that Chelsea offered Benfica some money deemed
unacceptable by the Portuguese side, but it's believed that Chelsea are still in the hunt for the
player.
Now, if reports are to believed, Chelsea are prepared to offer around £21m for the player and in
addition Chelsea right back Paulo Ferreira who is valued at around £4m, taking the total fee to be
around £25m.

I'll admit, I'm something of a sucker when it comes to transfer rumors. I get swayed rather
easily with even the faintest of suggestions that we might get this young-buck-on-the-rise or that
disgruntled-superstar-with-bundles-of-talent. With the way the media juggernaut churns out these
stories, it's a bit hard to keep track of what's fact versus fiction.

"Let's waste time, chasing Kjaers..."
Several reports emanating from Germany (via the Daily Mail) this morning are suggesting that
Danish centre-half Simon Kjaer, who only joined Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg a couple of months ago,
is set for a shock £12.
With the news of Chelsea making a bid that has reportedly been accepted for Simon Kjaer it seems
that Benfica have possibly realised that they have talked themselves out of a deal with Chelsea.
SkySports.com has run an article today to state that "Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira flew to
London in the company of agent Giuliano Bertolucci to hold talks with Chelsea over a potential
move".
Benfica's star centre-back David Luiz is expected to complete a January move
to Premier League champions Chelsea within the next hours. According to Lisbon-based newspaper
A BOLA, the Benfica president has travelled to the English capital to negotiate a deal
ranging between €25-€30m(£21m-£25m) plus the inclusion of players.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the club are indeed hankering after Benfica
centre-back David Luiz, though he remains unsure as to whether the two parties will be able to come
to an agreement before the sand in the transfer window Boggle timer runs out.
Here is the Line-up for the Argentina Vs Portugal friendly on Feb 9th in Geneva. The biggest

Gabriel Milito, Marcos Rojo; Ever Banega, Javier Mascherano, Esteban Cambiasso; Ezequiel Lavezzi,

Portuguese outfit Benfica have confirmed that they have received an offer from Chelsea for
defender David Luiz. The center back would provide some much needed depth for the Blues as they aim
to rebound following a slow start to the season.

acquisition of the sporting and economic rights of athlete David Luiz Moreira Marinho," revealed a
statement from Benfica.

Thank Jesus, Allah, Buddha and all of their other imaginary friends!
One of the more tedious sagas that this current transfer window has spawned is now within
spitting distance of reaching it's conclusion, with Benfica confirming that they have accepted and
are in the process of finalising an offer (believed to be £26 million) from Chelsea for Brazilian
centre-back David Luiz.
Benfica say a deal for David Luiz is off, which is highly interesting. ChelseaTV isn't so
sure.
More interesting, however, is news that Fernando Torres is open to a move from Liverpool to
Stamford Bridge. Via the Guardian: "Fernando Torres has told Liverpool to sit down and
negotiate with Chelsea, having reached the point at which he believes that a departure from Anfield
is now the right move for his career.

Amid rumors that Fernando Torres is interested in joining Chelsea comes word that Liverpool has,
in fact, added a star rather than lost one.
Liverpool has completed the acquisition of Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez from Ajax for a
reported €26.5 million euros. After a lengthy and public negotiations, Liverpool finally offered
a total that Ajax deemed reasonable for one of the stars (and villains) of the 2010 World Cup.
Benfica have announced a statement through the Portuguese stock exchange that they have called off
talks with Chelsea over central defender David Luiz. The clubs have been in hard negotiations over
the past week but were unable to come to an agreement. Benfica also announced that they are happy
to be keeping David Luiz with the club.
My first encounter with DC United came in 2004. The arrival of Freddy Adu onto the world stage
gained his club extra publicity. A year later Ryan Nelsen joined Blackburn Rovers from the
Washington club, and at the time I questioned if someone from MLS could cut in England especially
as he joined Rovers as a 28 year old.

Rizespor and Benfica have not yet confirmed it at the time of this writing.) If the news is true,
then Adu will transfer to his fourth club since his move to Benfica in 2007.
