Hull City manager Phil Brown is preparing a surprise bid for US international and Benfica player
Freddy Adu, according to the News Of The World.
Benfica would accept a bid of £1.5m for Adu. The American striker is currently on loan at
Belenenses, a fellow Portugese side but Adu has only made a handful of appearances there.

The much-rumored Freddy Adu move to Greece is now official. An 18-month loan deal has been
agreed upon between Aris FC and Benfica, and Adu will join fellow American Eddie Johnson at the
Greek club.
According to the club's official site (and Adu's Twitter page), Adu will join up through June
2011, with the club retaining an option to buy the attacker from Benfica.
Last month it was reported that the new coaching regime at Belenenses was cutting loose young
American footballer Freddy Adu. Adu was on loan at Belenenses from Benfica, which owns Adu's
rights.
Adu made the move from MLS to Europe in 2007, but has only mad 11 appearances since signing with
Benfica, which had loaned Adu to Monaco last season, scoring only 2 goals in that time.
Published reports out of Europe and the United States today indicate that Freddy Adu is headed
to Aris Salonika FC, the leading club in Greece's second largest city, Thessaloniki. (Although
currently PAOK is performing better than Aris in the Greek Super League)
Once again, Adu has managed to find himself transferred to a well supported club with a history
of making European continental competitions.
After his loan from Benfica to Belenenses was cancelled last month, word has spread all across the
internet that Freddy Adu is contemplating a move to either Aris Thessaloniki FC of Greece or Hull
City of the EPL. Either choice would be a positive move for Adu, as long as it resulted in more
playing time.
Stuart Holden went to England with the hopes of landing a contract. It looks as though he will
have to move elsewhere in Europe to find a deal.
According to the UK-based Mirror, Bolton has passed on signing Holden, and now the U.S. national
team midfielder is heading to Portugal to sign with Sporting Braga.
Freddy Adu and Eddie Johnson are two Americans who have had trouble finding regular playing time
with their current clubs (Benfica and Fulham). Adu has been on a few loan deals since his time at
Benfica and yet to earn regular playing time in any of them. Johnson, has only played a limited
number of matches for Fulham and on his loan to Cardiff City last season.
Portuguese midfielder Tiago Mendes has been officially presented as an Atlético Madrid player at
the club's Vicente Calderon stadium. The Portuguese international and former Benfica, Chelsea FC
and Lyon man joins Vicente Calderon Atlético on a six-month loan deal from Italian Serie A side
Juventus.
Where, oh where, will Sir Alex Ferguson poach from now?
Apparently it's about to become official that Manchester United's longstanding player-poaching
relationship with Sporting Lisbon has ended and that Manchester City is at the ready to step in to
use Portugal's best developmental system as its farm team.

Freddy Adu announced on his twitter feed that he has chosen a loan move to Greek Super League club
Aris over a rumored loan to the Premier League's Hull City. Either move would have reunited him
with an American teammate, though his 18-month loan to Aris is a year longer than Eddie Johnson's
loan from Fulham.
The next turn in Freddy Adu's tumultuous European adventure is taking him to Hellenic Republic, as
the former teenage phenom has finalized a deal to join Greek side Aris Thessaloniki FC on loan
until June 2011. That is the same club that made news stateside less than a week ago when they
announced the acquisition of another underachieving US international on loan: Fulham FC's Eddie
Johnson.

Nuno Gomes seems to be a wanted man around Europe as the transfer window is now open and the 33
year old striker looks for regular playing time as World Cup 2010 approaches. Gomes is deperate for
some regular action and this seems unlikely at Benfica with the strike pair of Oscar Cardozo and
Javier Saviola clicking on all cylinders together.
Benfica have started their 2010 with a victory over Rio Ave on the road, as the Eagles keep pace
with Braga as both clubs are on top of the Portuguese League with 36 points a piece. Benfica got an
early second half goal from Javier Saviola and it was all that the club needed in their 1-0
victory.Earlier today Sporting got a late marker from defender Tonel to defeat Leixoes 1-0 and move

Welcome to the first top 25 of the new decade. Hard to believe but this is now our fourth year of
doing this. You just can't rest if you want to be the best. How would the latest ranking be
affected by events of the past month? Would Barcelona lose their top spot after dropping out of
Copa del Rey? Would resurgent Italian clubs (Milan and Roma) move up and if so, how much?

Brazilian club Santos are reportedly close to agreeing a loan deal with Manchester City which
will see Robinho move back to his former club. I think it's fair to say that the
winger has been fairly pathetic (for the most part) during his stint in the Premier League and is
now looking to move on to a club where idolisation may come a little easier.
