No big fancy international transfer for the youngster. Just a mid-league switch from Benfica to
Belenenses on a one-year loan.
As long as things work out and he's getting playing time.
It appears Saviola has finally found a happy home with Portugal's Benfica after many years of
disenchantment with various European clubs. This season he joined the other two Argentine players
Pablo Aimar & the youthful Angel DiMaria to form a very effective trident. He has already score 4
times in 7 appearances for Benefica thus becoming a house favorite.
Maybe you had too much too fast. Maybe you had too much too fast.
Or just over played your part.
Nothin shakin on shakedown street. Used to be the heart of town.
Dont tell me this town aint got no heart. You just gotta poke around.
Freddy Adu was once pure potentiality.
Benfica defeated Celtic in their international friendly game at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.
Benfica scored early in the game when Keirrison gathered a rebound two minutes in to give the pro
Benfica grab the lead but Celtic tied the game just before the half when Paul McGowan scored on one
of Celtic's few chances in this game.
Good morning football fans regardless of what time of day it is when I finally get this posted
and you actually read it. As I write this post, I am on a train from Munich, Germany to Vienna,
Austria and I don't have internet service, so if I miss a fact, I apologize. I think I've
downloaded all of the information I need, so let's get started.
New arrival Freddy Adu hopes to see some time coming off the bench against his former team as
Belenenses host Benfica on Sunday afternoon at Estadio do Restelo in Lisbon.
Pablo Aimar is in superb form with Benfica this season and is receiving alot of acclaim
in the Portuguese media. This week he was the best player of the game in Benfica's 5-0 win over
Leixoes.
Hopefully, the great football moment that Aimar is in will carry over to the national team and
help Argentina qualify for the World Cup.

After spending most of the offseason looking for a new club, U.S. midfielder Freddy Adu has secured
a move away from Benfica.
I've been to their ground. Crappy stadium. Great location. Tiny club. Good luck, Freddy...
Benfica have arrived in Toronto, Canada for their friendly tomorrow against Scottish side Celtic at
BMO Field. Benfica will have a practise tonight before tomorrow's matchup which kicks off at 7.30pm
eastern time
Remember JAVIER SAVIOLA, ex Barça & ex Real Madrid? SFS is soglad to see the Argentine forward
regain form, play & happiness as thisvideo shows of his incredible goal for BENFICA against
Belenenses thisweekend:Nice one Saviola, keep it up!
Benfica have handed Argentina star Angel di Maria a gold-plated contract in a bid to see off
interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
The winger is about to sign a one-year extension on his contract that will see his buy-out clause
raised from £27million to a prohibitive £45m.
Some major upsets in Italy and England had the potential to shake up the Top 10 this week. Did
they? A little. Take a look:
1. Real Madrid
Last ranking: 1
Record (wins-losses-ties, in all competition; two-leg match-ups count as one): 6-0-0
Results of note: None yet.
Commentary/recent results: Real beat both opponents last week, Villareal and Tenerife, without
giving up a goal.
American goalkeeper Dominic Cervi is set to make his club debut for Celtic FC tonight as the
Hoops take on Benfica in the CNE Cup, a friendly at BMO Field in Toronto.
Celtic will be without most of its top stars, which are away on international duty, including
starting goalkeeper and Polish international Artur Boruc.
A great run and goal by Javier Saviola in Benfica's 4-0 win over Belenenses.
Benfica continue its torrid scoring pace in the Superliga with a crushing 4-0 defeat of Belenenses.
Javier Saviola with his first as a Benfica player, Cardozo, Ramires and Javi Garcia all chipped in
markers for Benfica who prepare to take on Everton in UEFA Europa League play
Well, there has been quite a bit of discussion in the post AEKBaltimore put up. Since the match
alot has happened, most regarding the horrendous officiating at the match. But first, a review.
For everyone who has been following AEK you know how incredibly unlucky we tend to be,
especially when it matters most.
So, another derby lost. That makes it the first time we've lost two derbies in a row in about
ten years. Not a good sign.
Not many positives to take from this game, both sides played some pretty poor football. I'm not
going to bother writing much as there is little to say. Firstly, our forwards still can't
score.
We recommend minute by minute (kind of) updates from the Guardian here. Alternatively you can
watch that twat on Sky Sports News who sits there with 10 mobile phones pretending people are
calling him and he knows what's going on.
We'll review the major moves come tomorrow - here are those confirmed so far.
If you are Paul Hart - by far the bookies' favorite to become the first sacked manager in the
Premier League this season - you would need a miracle to save Portsmouth from relegation at this
point. Four games into the new season, Pompey are yet to scrap up a single point, which is a clear
indicator of how the team roster was in desperate need of major bolstering on the final day of
transfers.

How much!
Benfica have increased their buy-out clause to 50million euros for coveted Argentinian
forward Angel Di Maria.
The 21-year-old moved to Portugal in 2007 from Rosario Central and has attracted considerable
attention since, not least as he scored the winner in the 2008 Olympic final against Nigeria.
Portuguese clubs took to action in their first games of the group stage of the revamped UEFA Europa
League. Benfica, Sporting and Nacional all played today with two of the three teams getting wins in
the first matchups. Benfica took on Bate Borisov at the Estadio da Luz and defeated the Belarusian
side 2-0 on first half goals by Nuno Gomes and Oscar Cardozo while Sporting visited the
Braga continue their unbeaten run in the Superliga (Liga Sagres) this season with a 1-0 victory
over defending Champions Porto. Alan scored in the 70th minute for Braga in what was a tight
defensive affair. Braga now have defeated two of the big three this season and if they can defeat
the third in Benfica this could be a very interesting season for the men from the Minho region.
The two surprises of the call for the last two games of the world cup qualifying are the return
of defender Naldo and midfielder Alex, ex-Inter. I'm very pleased about the latter. It is also cool
to see that Diego Souza from Palmeiras stayed. The list:

Two weeks ago Diego Maradona was talking about shake up and revolution within the Argentine
national team ranks. He talked about going to Europe and going "face to face" with players to tell
them that they were no longer on the national team. He talked about having a domestic side that was
going to be fielded as they were "hungrier" than the foreign-based players.
Now would be the ideal time for Dopey to experiment seeing how the seleção
have already qualified for the World Cup. What we don't get, however, is tio's love for
Andre Santos!!!
Anyway, the squad for the remaining qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia has been finalised
and it's nice to see Naldo and Diego Souza back again.
Falcao scored an early marker on a header in the 3rd minute and Porto hung on for the rest of the
match as they defeat Sporting 1-0. Sporting now have lost two of their first six matchups while
Porto moves into a tie with Benfica for second with the Eagles yet to play this week and are five
points behind leaders Braga
According to Reuters, this is a picture of Benfica's David Luiz celebrating his goal during a
5-0 win over Leixoes on Saturday. And since Luiz didn't score on his own team, I'm going to have to
assume that Benfica are into some pretty sadomasochistic goal celebrations.
You should see what they do to a teammate who scores a hat-trick.
Saint Etienne started this season just like they ended the last one, with poor
performances and they quickly found themselves in the relegation zone. Seeing that the team have
taken the wrong path, the club management decided to act and brought a couple of very good players
in the dying moments of the transfer window, but it was Argentine striker Gonzalo
Bergessio who stole the spotlight in the last few weeks and he certainly looks like the
man that can turn things around for Les Verts (The Greens).
It was a very busy week in topflight soccer, with Top 25 clubs playing twice, oftentimes against
each other. Remarkably, there were no major upsets to report, leaving the top 10 very much
unchanged. The second tier, however, was all shook up. Let's get to it:
1. Real Madrid
Last ranking: 1
Record (wins-losses-ties, in all competition; two-leg match-ups count as one): 4-0-0
Results of note: None yet.

Luisao's younger brother could be on his way to the Luz to sign with Benfica. Andre Silva who will
turn 18 in October is also a central defender like his older brother and would join Benfica's
junior club as he gets accustomed to European football.
Arqueros: Sergio Romero (AZ Alkmaar), Mariano Andújar (Catania).
Defensores: Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle), Nico Pareja (Espanyol), Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester

Clasificar directamente, ir a
repechaje o quedarse afuera son las opciones.
Sorprenden las convocatorias de Pablo Aimar y de Emiliano Insúa, el juvenil ex
Boca que actualmente se desempeña en el Liverpool.
